Inneresting!

According to Office insiders, here's the lowdown on what the writers are planning for when Steve Carell leaves the show:

- They aren't sure whether the new star of the show will also be the new boss of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch.

- The first half of the season will be about Carell's final year as the boss and highlight current actors on the show as potential successors.

- Harvey Keitel is NOT being seriously considered to replace Carell.

- They still want Ricky Gervais to appear in a guest role.

- By the end of the season, one character will get Michael Scott's job.

As for who that person will be, a source reveals:

“You’re looking for someone who can start stories. Someone whose judgment isn’t necessarily one where when an issue comes up and a boss with a correct judgment would quickly settle it and then you have no episode. You’re also looking for somebody who considers the rest of the office his family.”

Another insider says, “There’s a cool energy around set that we haven’t seen since Season 2 like anything is possible.”

Thoughts?

    DWIGHT K. SCHRUTE!!! = )

  2. 2

Cannot wait!!! I love this show even though last season was a little blah… hopefully, if they can get it back to how it was like in Season 2, it will be as funny as ever!

Sounds like the way to go. My vote for new Regional Manager would be Dwight or Ryan, preferably Ryan.

  5. 5

That show has sucked since Pam and Jim's wedding. It should be "The Pam and Jim and Baby Show". Ugh.

  6. 6

Dwight! But they'd have to tone down his meanness!

  7. 7

I would love nothing more than to see Ricky Gervais take this role… It would be awesome

    ANDY BERNARD!!
    Think about it.

Pretty simple to deduce based on the quote from the source: it's ANDY (Ed Helms). Growing Hollywood profile (The Hangover). Can start stories (Moved to Scranton and started anger management. Crush on receptionist. Wedding plans with Angela. Singing/dancing. Cornell superiority. Odd friends from Cornell. Looks as staff as a family, witness his giving Christmas and Valentines Day cards to all. Became friends with Oscar on the road…finds Michael funny…dance-offs with Ryan's GF (forgot her name)…says nice things to Jim and Pam…loves the secretary… knows nobody else in Scranton.

But…he's a MAJOR screwup. Marriage was cancelled…always singing…makes poor judgments with women…foot in mouth syndrome with new secretary…can be annoying. Also, seems like would be overwhelmed with decisions. Ever seen him really "work?" Can see him freeze under pressure and Jim bail him out. Remember Kathy Bates (the new Chairman) liked him as her dog likes him best (always sniffing his crotch). She may favor him.

I can also see him making the HUGE mistake in season 8 (Financial? Vendor-related? Sales?) and getting canned. Ans his disappointment being hilarious. Seems lke the perfect candidate. The "family" eliminates Dwight and Pam. Jim wouldn't be funny, and the other actors are too secondary. I'm feeling Andy and would bet Vegas money.

Congratulations Dwight, don't screw the pooch A-wipe!

I think Gareth Keenan from the UK Office would be perfect. Dwight is his doppelganger and they would be an interesting pair. I imagine he married a blonde, busty American roller derby champion and his immigration has just come through….

    I miss Gareth!

    Re: bmfii

I agree! Andy Bernard makes the most sense fitting that description.

The person to get Michael Scott's job can not be someone obvious.. like Dwight, Pam, Jim, etc.. It needs to be someone completely random that we've seen before, and that is fucking hilarious.

Either way, the show will never be the same with Michael Scott. He is the office. It's just like taking away Peter Griffin out of Family Guy.. Not okay.

  15. 15

    Cancel it.

  16. 16

    I bet it's Mindy.

  17. 17

    Toby Flenderson?Well then again….he's so blah,no excitement.Wow that is a toughie!!Obivously it's probably not Jim.

  18. 18

The other logical choice besides Ricky Gervais could be Ellen Degeneres–she can think on her feet and have little idiosyncracies that could be hilarious. Anyone remember her ad set in an office with a bunch of little animals around her?

  19. 19

I'm kind of hoping Dwight or Andy will get the job, because Dwight is crazy and Andy is adorable but could easily turn into another type of Michael.
