Danny Boyle's New Film Debuts To Standing Ovation!

| Filed under: Film FlickersJames Franco

We're not surprised! If anyone could pull out another serious Oscar contender this early in the season, it would be Danny Boyle!

The director publicly debuted his latest film, 127 Hours - which chronicles the real life story of a man named Aron Ralston, who was forced to amputate his own arm after becoming stuck under a boulder - at the Toronto film festival, and it was reportedly met with a standing ovation from the audience!

Afterwards, Boyle, Rolston, and James Franco - who plays Rolston - took to the stage, and the real-life survivor thanked the filmmaker for convincing him to adapt his story to film.

He said:

“I have to say thank you to everyone who’s standing next to me on the stage. As a documentary it wouldn’t have been anywhere near as powerful as what that was. Thank you for convincing me otherwise.”

It sounds like this one's definitely going to to generate a lot more buzz than it's already starting to!

Definitely not an easy film to watch, but an important one to see!

What do U think?? Do U want to see 127 Hours??

i was at the screening. the standing ovation lasted throughout the whole credits and was only stopped when danny boyle began to speak. it started to die out but once the cast gathered back on stage and james franco walked up the crowd went nuts again. he deserves it. really powerful performance. going from something like pineapple express to carrying a whole movie on his shoulders (successfully). give him an oscar.

Mario, can you please check the spelling of Ralston (not Rolston) before you blog your posts. My biggest pet peeve is spelling mistakes.

why not? not only do i love franco, a good piece of nonfiction is always enjoyable and humbling.

I went to the premiere as well. It was an intense experience. The cast / team definately deserved a standing ovation especially hottie James Franco. Everyone even clapped after he cut his arm off. (Must of been a weird experience for Aron) Overall great movie, deserves an oscar.

what a stupid topic to make a movie about…
    that's my opinion…

I want to see it so bad, but I'm scared to. Terrifying stuff.

I can't wait! The real life Aron is SO FREAKING HOT! He makes Franco look like a d*bag. I'm super happy that Aron got a book deal and then a movie deal. Remember, never leave home without telling someone where you'll be or be back. At least leave a note. Aron was stuck for days and no one even knew he was missing.

Oh, yeah I will be seeing this one.

if James Franco is in it…and pretty much all i see then HELL YEAH

Why is it 'an important film to see?'

  16. 16

Definitely! I remember watching a clip about Aron in high school, and his courage inspired me a lot. If I were him, I'd probably choose death over cutting my own hand. The guy is a true inspiration.

I love all his work. Def will check this out. Haven't heard about it and for once you actually posted something good.

why is it important to see? are we going to be quizzed later?
anyway….hasn't the whole, it's so shocking because it was real movie, already been made? it sounds like the movie "Alive".
