Anyone can take lyrics out of context and make them sound like the most trite lyrics. I can do that with the Beatles, who are considered the most amazing song-smiths of their time.
As for GaGa copping other people's styles..what crime is it to do other people's looks? She pulls it off well, sometimes even better than the people she's allegedly copying? Could Dale Bozzio gotten as far as LG? She had some catchy songs, but no..she wasn't really accessible enough. Grace Jones?…iconic, yes, but again, no. I've seen Roisin Murphy's videos. It may matter to artists not getting airplay because too much attention is placed on this one, or to you as a fan who thinks this artist is better than this one, but this kind of stuff has been going on forever. Was Diana Ross the better singer of the Supremes? Not really, but she was charismatic, her voice was more commercial, and she was much more fierce than the other two. Is X-tina better than Britney as a singer..well, duh, but Britney was more captivating on camera. Not saying it's right, not saying it's wrong.
As far as what internet fans think, do you know how easy it is to hide behind a computer and rattle all day about who's better and who's original? People fight online about their favorite artists all day just for the hell of it. I mean, we're doing it right now. You'd probably think I was cool as hell if you met me in real life, though.
