Wowsa!

More than $3 million dollars are going to be spent to bring Oprah Winfrey and her talk show to the Sydney Opera House, but Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson said the cost is completely reasonable for what they're getting in return.

He explains:

"This truly represents an amazing opportunity to showcase Australia, the warmth and hospitality of our people and the depth and breadth of everything our country has to offer visitors from around the world. Tourism Australia is finally getting it together.

"We as a nation will win as a result of this coup. I think it's money well spent."

Tourism Australia is partly financing "Project O," contributing $1.5 million from its current financial year marketing budget.

Tickets for the Australian people will be available by a lottery via online registration next month.

Will U be hoping for tickets, Aussies?

If this fat pig had an ounce of decency she would be helping Obama and Democratic party fight off the freaking RepubliKKKans. But no she spends her time on this foolishness.

  2. 2

Woww… Oprah needs to help the homeless or something with that kind of money. In fact, her money alone could probably end poverty in North America. lol.

  3. 3

And Gayle goes "down under" on Oprah each and every night!

  4. 4

Why is Oprah bringing her audience to Oz, a notoriously racist country? Aussies hate the Aboriginals, and they hate us, too.
Why not the Caribbean, or someplace else?

  5. 5

What a shock. As usual, Oprah makes some big show of "giving" all her fans some big gifts, then we find out someone else if footing the bill. Typical, she is such a fraud.

  6. 6

That's completely rediculous! If Oprah wants to go to Australia (and take all of her rich soccer-mom audience along) then she should pay for it out of her own very deep pockets. It's a crime to make tax payers pay for such shit.

  7. 7

Spending $6 million to bring Oprah and her audience to Oz- ""We as a nation will win as a result of this coup. I think it's money well spent."
Sounds just like the American Government sadly…

    Re: caroaber – I agree, They're racist.

  10. 10

Nice, she gives the whole audience a free ticket to Aussie land, but the reality is, 75 % of Americans don,t have a passports. And knowing that Americans are as dumb as a boxs of rocks when it comes to anything mildly complicated,I say the odds of half that audience even getting on that plane is nil.

  11. 11

Considering 75 % of Americans don,t have a passport,I say the odds of that bitches audience even owning a passport is laughable,so looks like nobodys going to OZ.

  12. 12

Most Australian's don't want their government spending this kind of money on Oprah. What a disgrace. Let her put her hand in her own pocket - or find sponsors to pay for her ego trip.

    Re: caroaber

So how many times have you been to Australia to know it is 'notoriously racist'? What is your personal experience with this to know so much??

    Yeah, didn't think so…………..

  14. 14

Obviously whoever said aussies are notoriously racist is a freakin idiot..Like every country there are racists, and most are not, get your facts right dickhead.
And noone in Australia wants to pay that money to get her over here, except the idiots who work in the tourism industry. She has more money than anyone and she cannot afford to pay for it herself..common, most aussies would be insulted.

  15. 15

    Re: caroaber
hahahahahhahhahhaa your just some dumb yank for saying that. i think that is the most funniest thing ive heard in years. maybe you should be learning more about australia. the fact you call aussies racist is a joke.
yes hundereds of years ago there was hatered against aborginals but you should do some research. in that time not only has our country apolgised to the stolen generation for any wrong doing and admitting we were wrong. 70% of the australian football leauge is played by aborginals.

    australians dont hate americans.
and if your going to be calling any country racist point that finger back at ur own country first MATE.
and im saying this from an aussie who lived in ur country for a number of years. get over urself. and pick up a book,

Re: caroaber – I'm Australian - but I come from a non-Australian family. We are one of the most multicultural societies in the world, accepting and living together with mixed cultures, races, religion and sexual preference.

Yes, there are people out there who lack tolerance for people who are different to them…but to point at our entire Nation is highly ignorant.

  17. 17

Re: caroaber – What an idiot.
Random uninformed generalisations like that are what usually get a person into trouble for being racist. Clearly someone as idiotic as you has no business commenting on an amazing nation like Australia. We are actually notorious for being multicultural, a trait that Americans aren't so well known for. Keep your false accusations to yourself, I guarantee if you came out here you'd fall in love with this country like everyone else.
    …Dipshit.

  18. 18

Oprah will be welcomed here!!! We can't wait and are very excited that she is coming! All of my friends are hoping to win a ticket in the lottery.
The media has gone nuts over here! This is the first time Oprah has filmed outside of America and it will help our tourism industry, so people can see what a great country this is!
The people that are being negative on here are the same old idiots that always write crap. Type something new will ya!

  19. RAINE says – reply to this

    19

    LOVE OPRAH :D :D I WANT A TICKET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. 20

I think it's amazing. Im happier about this than paying an obscene amount to get Tiger Woods out here. She will do more for the economy and tourism industry than he will. And to the person who called us racist, please don't ever come here. MOST Australians do not tolerate ignorance to race. Which is exactly what you are doing.

  21. 21

    Dear Caroaber & europeansarepedophiles,

When you sit there behind your computer screens and decide to express rude and ignorant judgements about my beloved Australia, does it make u feel superior?

I dare you to get rid of your close minded opinions and expand your clearly miniscule brains and either come to Australia and discover the complete opposite of your previous statement or attempt to read and learn about us and our multiculturalism & before you type such insulting accusations.

Every country has racism, especially yours. So maybe u should keep your opinion about our country to yourself and worry about your own country first.
    also FUCK YOU.

P.S I would love to Go see Oprah and show her audience members and her, how awesome we are.

  22. 22

Re: europeansarepedophiles – aussies are not racist moron, arent you being a bit racist with your bloody name? I think people like you should seriously get your facts straight before you start calling us aussies names.

  23. 23

Re: caroaber – Speak for yourself, not on behalf of 22 million people, okay?

  24. 24

Re: europeansarepedophiles – says someone with the user name "europeansarepedophiles". Yeah, because you're not racist at all are you, you ignorant fuck?

  25. 25

Re: caroaber – generalise much? so all 22 million of us are racist towards the aboriginal people? i for one am not. so that's one less person.

  26. 26

I'm actually quite excited she's coming here. Sucks I'll be in the USA at the time though.

  27. 27

Re: caroaber – Don't be ignorant most Australians aren't racist, its rich though coming from an american (your country is one of the most socially backward developed nations in the world)
