We bet you never thought you'd read those words, right??

Well, he has a hit on his hands!

The Town, directed and co-written by Ben Affleck, came in the number one spot at the box office this weekend with $23.8 million.

This is also a pretty big September win for Warner Bros., which distribution president Dan Fellman said, "Everything just came together at the right moment, and we're thrilled with the opening."

Emma Stone's Easy A came into second place with $18.2 million, which was also a hit for Sony as the film only cost $8 million to produce.

"It's a terrific opening," Sony distribution president Rory Bruer said. "You got so much movie for what it cost, and it was a great result."

What did U see this weekend?

We saw Easy A - and we LOVED it!!!

I saw The Town i thought it was gonna be too much of a "guy film" , but i loved it Blake Lively was great in it , i'm sure she'll still have a huge career after Gossip Girl.as for Easy A , im seeing it next week, i keep hearing how awesome it is.

I remember when I did theatre with Emma Stone in AZ before she was famous. She never got any leading roles and no one ever thought she wuld amount to anything. Guess we were wrong? LOL! Good for her though; she's a sweetheart.

  7. 7

of course you saw Easy A perez….because although you are in your 30s, you have the intelligence, maturity, and taste in boys of that of a 12 year old girl

Loved The Town so much that I went and bought Hogan's "Prince of Thieves" after I saw it. Excellent flick.

  15. 15

I might go see this at the theater on Friday. Is it good? Any recommendations?

  16. 16

  22. 22

I am so happy to see him back in a truly awesome film. Saw it last night and really enjoyed it. my husband loved it. Ben Afleck is so good in it and I can't believe how well directed it was. If you haven't seen it you are missing a great film.

  23. 23

SO happy for Ben and the cast! Great movie!

  24. 24

Wow you guys are making me want to see it. I LOVE Ben. I've seen all his movies. I just rented Changing Lanes.

  25. 25

I haven't seen "The Town" or "Easy A" but I'm going to see both of them. Both have gotten great reviews and seem like fresh, interesting and engaging movies (in extremely different ways) . And "Gone Baby Gone" was an excellent movie that should have sold more tickets. Ben Affleck isn't exactly the Martin Scorcese of Boston, but he's much better at directing than he ever was at acting.

  26. 26

The Town - Good movie - even Grandma liked it in all its machine gun killing cops glory. lol

  27. 27

    i want to see both!

  28. 28

I like both films. But went with Ben's Flick. He still has the writing chops. I'll see Easy A next week based on all the good reviews. Congrats Ben for your comeback not that you ever left. LOL!

Ben Affleck has never been so sexy. I also think his confidence improved with this movie, I was VERY impressed, and I just couldn't stop staring at him :) yay for a great movie!

I saw The Town with a friend for Ben Affleck nostalgic purposes since we used to worship him in high school but i was pleasantly surprised with the movie overall. The directing was great, the acting was insane and Ben Affleck didn't disappoint with the hotness!

  33. 33

Such a great film. I might have to go see it again.

  34. 34

Are you kidding me?This movie was the best fucking movie i have seen since 2008

  35. 35

As a fellow Massachusian (Sp??) I will DEF be seeing the Town. It looks WICKED AWESOME!!…lol

  36. 36

The Town was very, very good. Not a big Afflect fan ever, now I am. I guess it took a little time for him to get his direction in the business together-but he made it happen. Its the best film I've seen in a long time!

  37. 37

Re: YUCK – Don't be jealous just because Jho's movie BOMBED. You're always talking shizz about Ben and you're delusional if you think Jlo still has a career.

The Town was an awesome movie! Go Ben! Go Boston! :-)

  38. 38
