This looks TOO CUTE!

Check out (above) the first image from Touchstone's upcoming Gnomeo & Juliet, which is a comedic re-telling of Shakespeare's romantic tragedy with garden gnomes, and featuring the voices of James McAvoy and Emily Blunt, with musical accompaniment from Sir Elton John!

We definitely want to see it!

We just hope it doesn't end the same way as the original version!

It makes me cringe to think Disney is going to f- up Romeo and Juliet. Kids are going to think it's the story Shakespeare wrote. Garden gnomes fall in love and in the end live happily ever after. I can't stand how Disney's Hercules messed up the Greek myths and among other inaccuracies my kids think Hercules' parents were the loving couple Zeus and Hera… maybe I"m just a snob? I once told my kids the real story of Romeo and Juliet and my one daughter cried. OK, I've decided that Romeo and Juliet is a great story that could make a great movie for kids if it was edited and Disney-fied. But I don't want them to call it Gnomeo and Juliet, so kids won't make the connection to Shakespeare's play.

They most likely will give it a happy ending. Disney does it to most fairytales, so yeah.

Re: xxAlphaKittenxx – Personally I don't like Romeo and Juliet because people call it a great tall of true love, when really it is a tale about lust, and how misinterpreting it as love can ruin you.

That being said, Disney does it all the time. Making tragic, demented tales into happy endings that are beautiful.

Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, etc. I could go on, because I've read most of the originals, and they are demented and depressing.
