I just read "when you are engulfed in flames" can't say i was hugely impressed, kind of felt like Augusten borroughs light. I know he preceeds augusten, but i don't find him as clever.

Augusten Burroughs is a pale imitation of David Sedaris - and there would be no Augusten Burroughs (or whatever his actual name is) without David Sedaris.

Eh, not a huge fan of David Sedaris. I read some of the essays in "When You Are Engulfed…" and it just seemed like he was trying too hard. He comes off as being pretentious, and so in love with his own cleverness. That'd be okay if it was the case with only one or two of the essays, but that's the tone of ALL of them. Annoying.

Are you kidding? I will push my grandma out of the way to see him do a reading.
And if he does his Billy Holiday impression, I'll push you out of the way, too.

david and amy sedaris are two of the brightest, funniest and painfully human creatives in the sandbox… that they are siblings speaks to a fairly amazing up-mutation of the gene pool, and they could write and star in something… play, movie or t.v show/special that could be so right on ahead of the curve cutting edge hilarious … (so why haven't they?) can't you imagine their thanksgiving dinners down in maryland? wouldn't you love to have the two of them over for cupcakes?

I'm going to see him read in Cincinnati OH. I've never been to one of his book readings, does anyone know if he usually sells books at his events or should i buy the book and bring it with me if i want it signed?
