THANK YOU!

Our sentiments exactly!

Click (above) to watch Jon Stewart respond to the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell's failure to move forward in Senate on last night's episode The Daily Show, by asking a very legitimate question: ARE WE RUN BY ASSHOLES?!

Seriously! WTF?

EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL! It's just a matter of time.

Jon Stewart is the rare contemporary hero, saint, God, voice of reason in these increasingly insane times. LOVES HIM.

  2. 2

Once again I say thank God for the republicans who put a stop to this insane piece of legislation.

  3. 3

Anyone who follows politics knows that the Dems added DADT to the defense bill for political reasons only. Usually, the defense bill takes 4-6 weeks of debate before they vote. Democrats knew this and knew they were nowhere near ready for a vote on defense funding. What surprises me is that someone as smart as Jon Stewart didn't know this…or maybe he does, and, like the Democrats, he just wants to use this to play politics. If you want to blame anyone, blame the Democrats for adding DADT to the defense FUNDING bill.

I think that was a play on words….guys like him are excited by assholes not governed by them!!

Canada repealed similar legislation in 1992. That's 18 years ago!!

I know that a ton of other stuff got attached to the bill (that happens here in Canada, too. For example a bill passed in Alberta - Bill 44 - was originally an equal rights bill for the LGBT community was piggybacked by an appendix which allows parents to remove their children from classes when they find them "controversial" or "in opposition to their religious beliefs". It was passed because the equal rights issue was more important to the people here even though the additional legislation is not (parents can take their kids out of PE, out of sex ed, and out of classes tackling issues such as genocide, terrorism, religion, and the Holocaust).

But, seriously, Canada! 18 years ago! Get with it, hosers.

DADT would have passed on it's own.

It was bundled with a quasi-amnesty bill, which is why it failed.

Not sure why people don't grasp that….

  7. 7

The Democrats enacted DADT and the Democrats control both houses of congress and the White House. You need to place blame where it belongs. If the Democrats really wanted to repeal DADT, they could.

  8. 8

How about taking your sexual perversion back into the closet so normal people don't have to put up with it?

What I don't get is why would anyone feel the need to disclose who or what they're sleeping with in the first place? Since when is this work place conversation unless you're with very vulgar company?
The last I heard sex talk at work was harassment.
At what point in a discussion with civil people does your sex life come into play?
I guess if you're queer ya just feel a need to be vulgar? WTF

Re: sonick808 – THANK YOU!! If the democrats wouldn't have added that it probably would have passed. As a military wife I'm all for repealing DADT. That added little piece of amnesty though…which I have to admit, I can't say I support. By the way, the whole quote "Are we run by assholes", remember, somebody voted them in…

Re: melb – Are you serious? You don't think people who are around each other often talk about stuff like that? People talk about their love lives and relationships all the time. And disclosing your sexuality doesn't mean you're going to necessarily talk about your sex life. Seriously, I'm sure people in the military at least mention their relationships or people in their lives to others they talk to. Why should that not be allowed for gays? That's what the whole issue is. If they so much as find out that someone is gay, they can discharge them. Oh and if you're suggesting that "queers" are vulgar because they talk about their sex or love lives, you obviously need to get out more. Tons of people talk about that stuff with people they know or are close to all the time, and yes, that includes straight people.

in my opinion, i dont feel as though DADT should be repealed. NOT because gay/lesbians should not have the right to be themselves, NOT because i feel gay/lesbians are wrong in their feelings but because it's extremely idealistic to expect the average soldier (who tend to be filled to the brim with testosterone, have an incomprehensible alpha-male mentality and who have been instilled conventional american traditions/values) to accept that person's sexual preference without the temptation, for whatever reason, to ridicule/single-out/torment these individuals. in a perfect world, sure–absolutely, i'd be in agreance. i'm more concerned with their safety, that is all. a good friend of mine, who happens to be gay, happily and excitedly joined the military. after a few months of being in, he CANNOT WAIT to leave because he's been picked on and bullied about this very issue. soldiers protect and fight for their country, they go to war, they keep us safe–sexual recognition of any kind has nothing to do with their duties/orders/purpose. the military functions on standards, rules and order–i feel like the revocation of DADT is something that could compromise that. would you want your country's military to be this accustomed to sensitivity if it dealt with combat toward an enemy/threat? our military is trained in regards to aggression, not empathy. think about it..

    genuine intentions,
    kb.

    Re: melb

Apparently you don't realize that people have been discharged simply for being seen in public with their partner. Maybe YOU are content with never being seen in public with the person you love, but most other people aren't.

  14. 14

At this point it doesn't matter if you vote D or R. Yes they are all f'ing a*sholes and anyone who thinks they give a rat's ass about anyone but the top 2 percent needs their head examined.

  15. 15

Anyone who is not super wealthy who votes for a RepubliKKKan is a brainless SUCKER.
They destroyed our economy, shipped all our jobs overseas, want to destroy SS, the veterans hospitals, public schools, and the entire middle class. They put us in horrific debt to China and made us a 3rd world country and you morons will vote for them because the draft dodgers make you feel tough. Morons!!!!

  16. 16

bout time someone put it out there and said it how it is. For one he did show Obama did put that in his speech and second he pointed out the amendements and mentioned the percentage of democrats and republicans who would vote on it. This whole video just devaluated a lot of idiots comments. Thank you Stewart

    Re: boston61 – yes i guess u fogot clinton and nafta….

  18. 18

Re: boston61 – Obama has tripled the national debt in 2 years with these inane bailouts. While i agree the Republicans spend money like water, the democrats are far worse. They both suck!!!

  19. 19

I understand what he's saying but in reality assholes can be a very good thing. They are a source of methane, which in turn can be used for fuel.

  20. 20

Re: sonick808 – #6 You are absolutely correct. The reason why people don't grasp the concept is that the education system is so completely dumbed down that people do not even understand the basic concept of a "bill," because it is barely, if even, part of their education. In reality, there is no such thing as "A BILL" with one separate item, which is why many "bills" don't get passed, and which is also why many do with a bunch of other damaging crap in them … just to get one item out of many up and running. People wonder why our work is all offshored? We have produced a few incredibly stupid generations.

  21. 21

"EQUAL RIGHTS FOR ALL" How you dare to say this, when you clearly put gay rights above straight people rights????? you IDIOT.
PS. I ´m in favor of equal rights for all, but in the right way not in a twisted way like PH.

  22. 22

you cannot be gay and be in the military - but -
a rapist murderer has equal rights?

  23. 23

YOU KNOW, I don't think we are run by assholes. BUT i do belive in combat it's not like running around roosevelt street with gay pride flags, but serous shiza when you have to take out enemy and blast away human life, protect our country. THERE IS NO NEED to discuss gay, married, stright, single, divorced, kids, etc. it's a JOB, ti's a JOB OF NATIONAL SECURITY for you and me. if you want these men and women to do a camp fire shut in and discuss their sexual preference, then there's something WRONG WITH YOU!

  24. 24

    Love it, and love him!!
