Good man!

Jesse Eisenberg Mark Zuckerberg is making a massive contribution to one of the country worst performing public schools. The founder of Facebook has just pledged to donate $100 million to the public school system in Newark, NJ.

The official announcement for Mark's generous donation will be made on The Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday.

Amazing! What an awesome way to spread the love around! (And get some good publicity before The Social Network comes out!)

Looks like he should be donating to the school that your ghost writer attended, because they obviously need help.

I helped build/design several of the public schools in Newark, NJ. Sadly this money won't help. The kids have no inspiration to learn, the majority of the parents/people in the area are drug addicts/dealers, and the local government is extremely corrupt. The best thing they could do for the kids is move them to another location away from those people.

This putz is lucky that he can afford to do this - obviously a PR ploy to offset all of the bad publicity and that fact that he is so hated. Also, if he was so sincere, why announce it on Oprah? Why ot just donate it without all of the hoopla… unless it is only for the publicity?

He stole the Face Book idea from the twins. Liar! Thief!

As a New Jerseyan whose town's school aid was cut 95% I am not in favor of throwing more money into the toilet known as Newark, whose aid was barely cut, by the way. You can give them all the money in the world and it will not change a thing. Their government is corrupt, the families are in chaos and money is not going to solve the problem of educating their children. What Newark needs is the National Guard to clean up their streets. No joke.

Good for him, great for the kids in Newark, lets send our positive energy along with the money that it goes to good use. Hey Mark, you wanna build some schools in Haiti?

$100 million is $100 million no matter how much you have — So what if he announced it, maybe it was to make it public knowledge so nobody misused the funds - someone donates $100 million, so people expect to see a change, if there isn't any, people will be asking questions, and not just people in Newark or New Jersey but nationwide - unfortunately, like others have pointed out you have a lot to contend with, parents who don't care, or can't care (drug addicts, incarcerated, etc) and corrupt politicians/administrators - but if $100 million makes the headlines maybe people will take note and keep aware…these kids need a chance

Good for him! It's good to see people using their wealth for the greater good.
