MELtdown May Guest Star In Mad Men

| Filed under: TV NewsMel Gibson

What do you get when you combine the epitome of cool with the epitome of crazy? We may get to find out!

Mel Gibson is currently in talks with Mad Men show creator Matthew Weiner about the possibility of being involved in a season five story arc, which starts shooting in July. Given the fact that he's unhirable his current schedule, he should be available at that time.

Here's what columnist Liz Smith had to say about Weiner's surprising consideration of Gibson as a guest star:

"Weiner — who is Jewish and can overlook Mel's infamous drunk rant of several years ago — told a pal recently that he sees a lot of dramatic potential pitting Mel against Don Draper."

Crazy vs. Cool sounds like it could be quite inneresting, but are we really willing to support him, even if the role is tailored to be somewhat sarcastic and self-referential for Gibson?

What do U think? Would U watch MELtdown on Mad Men?

I would watch Mad Men if I caught on fire and putting it out meant I would miss a second of it! But! I don't like racist Mel…..I'll watch it but I won't be happy about it!

I love to watch Mad Men, but I really do not like that crazy Mel. He needs help.

  3. 3

I would watch mad men ONLY because mel Gibson was on it

From what I've seen of Mad Men I think Mel would be a perfect addition. Let the male chauvinistic agenda reign free.

No - it would bring MEL stigma with it & spoil the purity & goodness that is Mad Men. For the 1st time EVER I would not watch. The reason it is soooo great is because of it's lack of bending to mainstream pretentiousness. It has strong acting, historical ambiance, strong writing/story-telling and that's ALL it needs. (It's bad enough pointless Carla Buono was brought on). To bring Mel Gibson it would ruin it & bring an element of Perez Hilton to it. While both are good they are best kept seperate!

I haven't seen the show but might if Mel was on it. You have to admit, he's a compelling actor to watch on the screen. Ratings would go up I bet.

i dont watch the show at all…but i would if Mel were on!!

why is it that other people like alec baldwin and charlie sheen are allowed to be complete assholes and degenerates, even wife beaters, and still no one seems to care as much as with Mel?? Mel hasnt even been proven to have physically done anything…the only thing anyone can say about him is he is struggling with mental illness…

I would support any project he is linked to, because i think he deserves to have the same forgiveness the public and hollywood would grant to anyone else.
Besides, I think he is a sick person who needs compassion not persecution.

mad mel on mad men? why not?

  13. 13

No. No, no, no, no, no, no, and no. It's a fantastic show, and there's no reason to allow Mr. Gibson to be in any way associated with it.

  14. 14

    I would tots watch it!!

Why can you not spell the word "interesting"? I keep seeing it here as "inneresting", which is not a word. Please do not dumb down your spelling for your audience, it is insulting. If you are doing this accidentally and do not actually know how to spell interesting, hire someone to write for you, or at least turn on spell check now and then. Thank you!

I love Mad Men! It is the best show on television right now and I would LOVE to see Mel Gibson on the show. I am Jewish and I have never been bothered by what he has said. He has his issues but I do not believe he is a terrible person. He just doesn't come off as a bad person.
