Billie Joe To Join Cast Of American Idiot!

If this doesn't boost ticket sales, nothing will. (To which then they should consider canning the thing!)

Due to one of the cast members taking a leave to deal with a family matter, Billie Joe Armstrong was asked to step in and understudy for a pivotal role in his band's rock opera, American Idiot.

The Green Day frontman is slated to be taking over the role of St. Jimmy for eight performances, starting this Tuesday.

What a marketing ploy! They really should of thought of doing this sooner!

Hey New Yorkers - think any of U will throw down to see Billie Joe in his own musical?

broadway does not need to be degraded any further with this crap.

I saw American Idiot in Berkeley and loved it! What a great show!! High energy, amazing music and singing, and incredible sets. I will have to see it a 3rd time if Billie Joe will be in it. His voice makes me so happy!

I didn't think Billie Joe and Green Day could sell out any further than they had by putting American Idiot on Broadway - I was WRONG!!

Well, it's better to add something to make people buy tickets instead of doing like you Perez and hand them out for free calling it a "contest".

Green Day + Broadway = jumped the shark much?

This is a wonderful show and one of the few highlights of this year's Broadway season. It shouldn't need Billie Joe to sell tickets.

If I was even close to New York I'd go see this! with or without Mr Armstrong in it. And since it got an extention I think ticket sales must be doing pretty good….

Do they usually extend poorly selling shows?

i saw it last night, without one of the usual leads and it was still fantastic. its not typical broadway and that's probably why everyone hates it. but everyone is very talented, understudies and ensemble included. i don't know that i can see him playing that role though. his voice isn't quite good enough.

it was a stupid idea anyway

I would shit my pants to see Billie Joe on Broadway. It was amazing enough seeing him in concert.
