Looks like they couldn't land the #1 spot! Ouch!

Maroon 5 was beaten out by Zac Brown Band, who bowed at #1 on the Billboard 200, with You Get What You Give, which marks their first chart-topping album.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Zac Brown's new album sold 153,000 copies, while Maroon 5's Hands All Over sold 142,000.

Better luck next time, we suppose!

Do U think Maroon 5's new album deserved the #1 spot?

    How did they fail?

I haven't heard the Zac Brown Band record, but I have heard Maroon 5's new disc. I wouldn't consider myself a "Maroon 5 fan" but the record is REALLY good, in my opinion. Better than their first, and DEFINITELY better than their second…

@JulianPerretta Also beat out Maroon 5 on the french charts this week, Debuting his new CD, Stitch Me Up. Holla.

    Zac Brown Band is amazing.

Do they DERSERVE the #1 spot? No. Why? Because they didn't sell the most records. It's not about who's more mainstream or more popular, being #1 on Billboard means you sold the most. Psh. Did they serve the #1 spot. I know it's hard for you to believe but there are still a whole lot of ppl who listen to country music. The USA doesn't just consist of LA, NY and Miami, check out the other states. There are a whole lot of fucking white ppl and I'm sure a lot of them listen to country music. Goodness. What the fuck is this country coming to?!?!

i am an avid maroon 5 fan so i may be a little biased, but their new album is great! songs about jane is my second favorite album, next to john mayer's room for squares, and this one may be as good. it won't be soon before long was alright, but hands all over is definitely a step in the right direction.

The 1st and only time I have ever heard of Zac Brown Band was when they won the Grammy this year for best new artiste. I cant compare both albums and say which is better because I haven't listened to a don't ever plan to listen to ZBB's album but I must say "Hands All Over" is by far Maroon 5's greatest work. A beautiful masterpiece that has been well written and arranged. Who cares about album sales. Seriously…..M5 had a sold out tour this summer and this album is the icing on the cake. Their No. 1 in my book. "Just A Feeling", "How" and "I Can't Lie" are EPIC!!!Love this album.

thats bullshit..Maroon 5 definitely deserved the number one spot..ive never even heard of the Zac Brown Band. this is Maroon 5's best album yet!

maroon 5 is still awesome. Hands All Over is awesome, and they still sold a ton of records. and i gaurentee that more people know Maroon 5 over the Zac brown Band. SO, did they really fail? because they are still around after all these years and still making quailty music

I don't know why Perez keeps being so dramatic by calling popular artists who don't debut at #1 "failures". First of all, Zac Brown Band is a group that hasn't been on the popular music scene as long as Maroon 5, so it's not surprising that they would outsell Maroon 5. (Just look at what happened to the Jonas Brothers' last album.) Second of all, country music is hugely popular in most of America, while sleek blue-eyed soul rock is a little harder for a lot of people to embrace. I do like Maroon 5's newest album quite a bit, but it doesn't seem to have the same level of musical sophistication as their first album. It seems that a lot of Maroon 5 fans agree, too. The reviews for this album were also pretty unforgiving, on average.

Either way, I'm going to keep listening to my Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera 2010 albums, no matter how much bad press they get or how many times Perez calls them failures. As far as I'm concerned, Justin Bieber can get on his tricycle and head the other direction.

Zac Brown Band is one of the best bands to come out in years. Compare the musicianship between ZBB and Maroon 5 and it's not even close. It's no surprise really.
