Pretty impressive!

The list of 15 artists nominated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are Alice Cooper, Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Chic, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits and Chuck Willis.

Wowsa! They couldn't be any more different.

Inductees will be announced in December and honored at a ceremony next March.

May the hardest rocking win!

Since you're so concerned about gays killing themselves I just thought I'd remind you that last year you posed naked sex pics outing Dustin Lance Black. Remember that?

They can make a start by living up to their name and inducting rock and roll artists into the rock and roll hall of fame. Last time I checked Neil Diamond wasn't rock and roll as neither are rap or hip hop artists.

If Neil diamond or bon jovi win they can just change the name to the rock & roll hall of LAME. Yawn Weinner sux !

Why don't they call it the Music Hall of Fame? Rock and roll isn't that broad. Include everyone, just call it by the right name.

  5. 5

Bon Jovi but no Def Leppard? Are you serious?

LL Cool J? Can anyone even name a song by him?

BON JOVI! Duh. Can't believe they aren't already in the Hall of Fame!

The fact that, once again, KISS was left off the list damages the credibility of the RR HOF. Nominate and induct KISS. I realize that their music isn't the most intricate of all time, but their world wide sales alone are probably more than this year's nominations combined.

It's an injustice that Rush was left off this list. Best (edited) quote I've read on this so far -
'Rush is in the Worldwide Top 3 for rock bands with the most consecutive gold records. They have 25 gold, 11 platinum and 3 multi-platinum. They've sold 40 million albums worldwide, 25 million of those in the USA.
Rush is actual *rock* music, unlike many of the RRHF inductees. They have never sold-out or watered-down their sound in over 40 years of playing as a band.' -fabrikk/cbc comment

Where's Rush? Where's Motorhead? Iron Maiden? Judas Priest?

What about Bette Midler? She was quite good back in the day. And still is. She's not strung out like the rest of them.

Re: @v@ – Yes, curious who the R&R HOF nominate. A real scattergun approach - blues, rap, folk, disco, pop, even rock. As regards Rush, I agree with you. Some people hold their nose at prog-rock. Just today I saw an article at canoe dot ca (Rush to receive Legend honour) where they will be honoured in London as living legends. Neil Peart is the best r&r percussionist ever imhop. Be seeing you.

Re: Moderus – Right, and all you mentioned meet the minimum 25 year criterion the Hall of Fame sets out.

Re: Phibes – Yes! on Peart, but add Buddy Rich, Ginger Baker, Bonham for sheer crazy, and definitely Stewart Copeland, Charlie Watts, Mitch Mitchell (Hendrix), and early Santana percussionistsJosé Chepitó Areas, Coke Escovedo, and Mike Carabello…and there are too many more to list.

Re: @v@ – Yeah - good stuff; Cream, Led Zep, The Police. Since you're going back a tad, I'll throw out Gene Krupa, who predates r&r but was flamboyant & groundbreaking and for contemporary, John Blackwell - Prince's drummer at one time. cheers!

I think it is so lame that Rush is consistently left out of the nominee selection. It's like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is doing this on purpose. Neil Peart = the best drummer and best lyricist EVER. Geddy Lee = the best bassist EVER. Every year when these nominations come out I'm always baffled. RUSH RULES.

Re: Phibes – Besides previously mentioned Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Judas Priest, I read that the Moody Blues and Jethro Tull haven't been inducted either, yet they've nominated 'LLCoolJ.' *Shrugs*. Rock and Roll, indeed.
