Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part I To Be Released In 2D ONLY!

harry potter and the deathly hallows part I to be released in 2d only

We cannot express enough how impressed we are with you, Warner Bros!

Warner planned to release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I in 3D, but because they couldn't get a quality 3D conversion done by the release date, they've decided to release the film solely in 2D.

Given the fact that Warner was responsible for releasing the poorly executed 3D release of Clash of the Titans, we are ecstatic that they learned their lesson and won't make the same mistake twice! It's refreshing to hear.

Here's the statement Warner Bros released regarding the loss of Harry Potter's 3rd dimension:

Warner Bros Pictures has made the decision to release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters, as we will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window. Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long-anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010 as planned. We, in alignment with our filmmakers, believe this is the best course to take in order to ensure that our audiences enjoy the consummate “Harry Potter” experience.

Producer David Heyman said, “For 10 years, we have worked alongside Alan Horn and the studio, whose priority has always been to preserve the integrity of Jo Rowling’s books as we have adapted them to the screen, and this decision reflects that commitment.”

Director David Yates continued, “This decision, which we completely support, underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first.”

As scheduled, on July 15, 2011, we will deliver to conventional and IMAX theaters our final installment of the film franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, in both 2D and 3D formats.

We are proud of U for having integrity, Warner!

How do U feel about the next Harry Potter being released solely in 2D?

Thankkkkkk God! I hate 3D movies!

  2. 2

I'm sick of the 3D fad already. I don't want to wear glasses to see my flicks. 2D FOREVER!!!

  3. 3

Fuck 3D. Leave it for animated movies.

  4. 4

Thank God. Those glasses give me headaches and don't fit over the ones I already have to wear, so paying more money than necessasry for an uncomfortable experience is bull.
Harry Potter is enough by itself.

  5. 5

    FUCK YEA!!!!! 3D blows!!!!!

  6. 6

Bummer. They should release it in both and leave it up to the consumer to decide which they want to see. I would check it out in both.

  7. 7

Thank God. I really didn't want to see the Harry Potter movies end with a gimmick.

  8. 8

Preserve the Integrity of the books, I've never heard a bigger load of bollocks.
I'm a major fan of the books and I am appalled by the number of differences between books and films. I can understand making a few alterations to turn them into films but some of the changes make them seem more like complete rewrites rather than adaptations.

Good. 3D ruins everything about a great film. If a movie needs 3D to seem appealing than its probably crap to begin with.

  10. 10

It doesn't matter to me because I was only going to see it in 2D anyway. I'm not looking for being completely taken in by the special effects and bs. I just want to watch a great film! I think 3D would be too distracting at least for viewing it the first time. Anyway, oh well.

  11. 11

finally 3D is on its way out yet again

No 3D fan either. We watched Avatar and were like 'Nice but what's the fuss about it?'. Never watched 3D again after that. This has me applauding Warner though. Indeed, learned something but we'll have a 3D double feature of both parts next year. Want to bet on it?

  13. 13

    So damm happy!

  14. 14

    Good! I hate 3D movies.

  15. 15

I was actually going to see it on 2D.. When you watch a movie in 3D you don't really enjoy the movie.. It's like a roller coaster: when you're riding one you like it but when it's over you realize you didn't see a thing

  16. 16

integrity!?!?! Ha…I bet this is a ploy to get more money. I bet you anything they'll re-release it in 3D right before part 2 comes out.

  17. 17

    Thank goodness.

  18. 18

GOOD!! 3D makes everything in the background look blurry to me anyway.

Plus, if it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT! We saw all the other HP moves in 2D, and we survived, we don't need 3D to make these final two movies amazing.

  19. 19

No issue with me I can't watch 3D it gives me a headache because one of my eyes is weaker than the other so the other one tries to catch up and it just hurts…seriously.

  20. 20

    i prefer it regular

  21. 21

sad. i love love love love 3D.

  22. 22

    Thank you!

  23. 23

Thank f*cking Christ! I can't STAND 3D!!! I have vertigo and prefer not to spend $16 to sit in a dark theatre for a couple of hours and suppress barfing.

  24. 24

3D SUCKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT MUST BE STOPPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  25. 25

    YEEEEEEEEEEEESSS!!! HATE 3D!!!

good! i wanted to see it in IMAX, but not 3D, so now i will be able to enjoy it in IMAX! i can't stand it when they convert a movie to 3D. it never looks right. filming in 3D is one thing, but converting is horrendous. Clash of the Titans is a prime example of this (although i guess that just could have been a really shoddy convert job).

  27. 27

Who wants to bet on how quickly this movie will return to the cinemas in 3D? They'll get all the fans in to see the film in 2D, make a fortune, then 're-release' it a few months later in 3D to get the same gullible idiots to shell out a second time. It's all a money making ploy, nothing else.

  28. 28

hot dayum those posters are genius! makes you flash right back to when the characters were so young, and the difference to now. You see those posters and know that the story has evolved into some serious grown up shit….loves it

  29. 29

YESSSSS!!!!!! I'm sooooo happy!!!!!! The only person who can make a good 3D movie is James Cameron.

  30. 30

I hate 3D and was so scared that Warner was going to do 3D only!

    THANK YOU WARNER!
