Don't Give Up On America, Brokaw!

tom brokaw tells unemployed to find jobs overseas

Has it already come to this?!

While being interviewed on BlogTalkRadio, NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw had some inconvenient advice for college grads trying to find a job.

He said:

"I wouldn't be looking just within our borders for opportunities. I'd be looking to see what the chances are of getting a job in the Middle East, for example. Or in India. Or in China

I've talked to a number of very senior American executives who — so much of their work now is offshore — say one of the things they need are people who are willing to pack up and go there and become middle managers."

Yikes! A little extreme, don't U think?!

A little extreme? Guess you haven't been out of work for a really long time. I have friends who haven't worked in almost 2 years. You have to go where the money is…

  2. 2

May suck, but it is very true… if you want a step up in the corporate world, you have to go where the jobs are. With all of the economic pressures, companies are outsourcing more than ever before, and need US corporate culture to make it work. Could be a cool time for some management folks, sucks for the working class (they just lose their jobs). PS.. isn't there a sitcom out about this very thing?

man Mario you really have no clue pick up the paper ever so often our economy is shite'

i'm need a break only reason i'm even posting

People don't want to hear it but I believe that's what it has come down to. Our economy has been troublesome for a while now and the unemplyment rate has been the highest since the great depression. I have a lot of friends with college degrees who are unable to find employment here due to the economy. A number of them are applying for jobs in Dubai and Saudi and leaving their families behind just to support them. Really sad for the US.

    IT'S NOT EXTREME!
This is what this country has done to our work force. It's all going oversees.

its not just extreme…its sad…sad that our country is in a state of economic downfall that ALOT of people are looking outside this country for work…our own cooperations have sent work overseas and the work that is here is being claimed by ILLEGAL immigrants…we are living in some FU*KED up times… :(

About time Americans had to do what the rest of the world has been doing for years.

I think it's great and taking a foreign job is a great way to see the world. I would have done it when I was just out of college, and would still love to work somewhere like India or China.

  10. 10

extreme?? hardly! Us British graduates are facing the same problem as well! I may have to come to the States to work by early next year if I dont find anything here till then

The Middle East, China and India might have heath care and better benefits too in the job. It's amazing how mind numbly slow Americans are able to catch up with the rest of the world. They insist on letting big businesses do whatever they want and hire cheap labour, while they don't even give children free health care. The Land of the Free? The Land of the Stupid.

  12. 12

Bring the jobs back home and put our people to work.

  13. 13

Jobs ARE NOT coming back to the USA; pick your panhandling corner wisely; other bums will kill you if you take their spot!

  14. 14

    Sad, but true.

Re: arnaz_2000 – if there are no jobs in the uk and no jobs in the us why on earth would you come to the us to get a job?

Its real sad when Steve Wynn says the Chinese Government is more predictable than Americas.

  17. 17

Maybe if liberals weren't purposely undermining American businesses with ridiculous regulations and over taxation people could get a damn job. I wonder where they're going to find money for votes when everyone is unemployed and there isn't anymore tax revenue to buy them with. November can't come fast enough to vote these communist out!

  18. 18

Hardly an original proposition. In fact, didn't he borrow this idea from a celebrated conservative Scottish professor?

Brokaw is a rube from South Dakota, a pretty boy who got lucky because America always rewarded white Protestant males for simply being white Protestant males.

  19. 19

Brokaw is right…..after Obama's reckless spending and heavy handed taxation, the US is no longer the land of opportunity. Opportunity can not flourish under such an oppressive regime. Prepare yourselves for high unemployment and a no growth economy for years to come. Many more will have to learn to live on an unemployment check with no hope of finding a job. This is the Hope and Change we put into office. Liberals sacrificed a booming capitalistic system with endless opportunity for a welfare check and government healthcare. Thanks a lot morons.

more people in china and india than it knows what to do with……….jesus, why the hell would they want foreigners when they have millions of their own.

  21. 21

well maybe if these assholes hadn't sent our jobs overseas people could find work. they need to bring them job's back. but i don't care how bad it gets here, i will never ever leave the USA!

Re: arnaz_2000 – Hey don't bother coming to the US, there are no jobs here either.
