Judge Issues Injunction On 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell!'

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayLegal MattersPolitikInspirationLGBT

U.S. District Judge Virginia A. Phillips has just ordered the Defense Department "immediately to suspend and discontinue any investigation, or discharge, separation, or other proceedings" relating to 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell!'

Lawyers for the Justice Department are sure to appeal the injunction, but this is MASSIVE step in the right direction!

Thats all well and good but if you are openly gay in the military you are going to catch a crap load of shit from your fellow soldiers. Then what is going to happen?

Why is Perez reporting this, it is a Gay Story that has nothing to do with Celebs.

This is ridiculous…there is no way the legal system can make me ask someone if they are gay

Re: Babycakes!!! – It happens when policies and morality is based on viewing a segment of people being lesser than others. If such policies ceased encouraging the bad behavior to which you bring up, people would simply outgrow it.

IF this administration is so forward looking when it comes to DADT, then WHY would its Justice Department appeal the ruling? It would allow the ruling to stand. If they do appeal, id hope you would open your eyes and see that this president could care less about you…just your vote.

Re: Babycakes!!! – I was openly gay while in the Army and I didnt receive any "shit". And i knew of many openly gay men and women. These are people you train with and have at your backs. Yeah there were the few who werent down for it… But the majority of the soldiers didnt really care as long as you did what you were supposed to do.

Ask any of the "straight" soldiers who sucks their dicks when they are at war and so far away from their wives and girlfriends??? They have no problem when the Gay soldiers suck them off, why would they have a problem otherwise???

Why does your news always have to be about gay people.. this is not breaking news-worthy..

Re: Babycakes!!! – God you're an idiot. They don't give a shit! That's the issue here! It's only a FEWWWWWWW people that really, truly care! Homophobes think that if they're in close quarters with a gay person, that gay person is immediately going to throw themselves at you. Well guess what! You probably see 100 gay people every day and DONT KNOW THEY'RE GAY. Same thing in the military. It's NO ONE'S business, and a gay person has JUST as MUCH of a right to fight for my freedom and for your freedom as ANYONE ELSE does.
It's people like you who can't think past that stupid statement you made that make the world a much tougher place to live in. Gay people are everywhere! GET OVER IT!

It is about time. Lord knows we need all the good military people we can get to achieve our objectives. It took a log time for women to get accepted in to the military too. If someone wants to serve our country and is qualified it shouldn't matter about their race, gender or orientation. go USA!

explain to me how don't ask don't tell excludes anyone from the military?? This equal rights crap is a load of shit!!!! There are many things that can diqualify you for military service.

the courts should keep there fucking nose out of military business!!!

repealing dadt will just lead to gay bashing in the military

How is it that a judge suddenly figured out that DADT was illegal after 17 years?

  19. 19

For the record, there are openly gay people in many countries' military. From what I see, from friends (everyone I know now is in the military), they are accepted as anyone else. I am sure they sometimes face discrimination as do other minorities.. But if the environment foster DADT, it communicates it is not okay to be gay and that leads to the hate

There is a reason that men and women are separated in military institutions.

    Think about it.

Give the military the time to introduce the right changes that would make it safer and more comfortable for everybody.

Virginia Phillips just immediately repealing the policy was reckless and ignorant to reality.

I can tell a lot of people simply don't understand why people have a problem with it and it demonstrates that they're being just as narrow minded as the so called "homophobes" are.
