'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Injunction WILL Be Appealed.

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayLegal MattersPolitikLGBT

The Justice Department is set to file an appeal this afternoon to fight Federal Judge Virginia A. Phillip's injunction against the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy.

Although we expected that this might happen, we can't begin to articulate how disappointed we are with the Obama administration right now.

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near

  2. 2

Fuck Barack Hussein Osama Obama. You'd think a biracial Muslim president would know better about equality.
I guess no all men are created equal in the good ol' USA.

  3. 3

Its okay Perez you can vote for someone else in 2012.Hopefully equality comes before then though.

  4. 4

The President is not the man I thought he was. I am also disappointed. Why is this so difficult.

  5. 5

obama is appealing it so it doesn't take affect right away
because its right before an election and they dont want to loose because of it
they want it to pass after the election in november

  6. 6

And people have the nerve to wonder where all these anti gay bullies are coming from.

If you treat us like second class citizens and tell us we cant get married then your kids are going to learn that from you and beat up gay kids.

God I cant stand the Bill Oreilly's of the world

  7. 7

I did not vote for him

  8. 8

unfortunately the president has no power over supreme court decisions but apparently you are too stupid to know this and keep bashing him and his "administration" when it's the courts that are making this decision and justices are justices until death so until he can turn the court majority more liberal than what it has become b/c of the justices that are and have been placed by the Bush administration this is something the president can't do anything about…so get your facts

  9. 9

Curious… Would you cry foul IF they took out DADT and then "segregated" the gay men from straight men and gay women from straight women?
How many lawsuits would that bring? There is just NO pleasing anybody really. I say leave it in place OR let ONLY Military decide.

  10. 10

Re: Melody Gomez – Melody, this decision has nothing to do with the Supreme Court (yet). It was a decision of a district court judge. The government always appeals court decisions that go against the government's favor. It has happened with Obama, Bush, Clinton, etc.

  11. 11

So are you having buyer's remorse like most people who voted for Obama?

  12. Dov says – reply to this

My military friends say that once you join the military you literaly give up all your rights, they have almost no rights.
So now why should the gays have it? I say leave it like it is.

  13. 13

Okay Perez, I know that you are all for equal rights, but Obama's got more pressing matters to deal with.

  14. 14

Did you actually read why or are you just jumping to conclusions Perez? Obama wants Congress to change the law not the courts. ["This is not a question of whether this policy will end. This policy will end, and on my watch," Obama said Thursday when asked about the issue at a town-hall-style meeting.]

  15. 15

I would have defended Obama to the grave while he was running. Now, i see that he is no better than Bush. I want a president who is in touch with the people. I Will not vote for Obama in 2012. I will write in a vote if I have to. DADT is so against what America is about.

  16. 16

Re: Melody Gomez – Obama and his administration have pleantyof say. He stays silent, he never stands up for anything that could piss someone off. You are in fact the ignorant one, for not knowing that the Obama administration has power.

  17. 17

I think this is so ridiculous. It just breeds more idiots spouting more religious crap out their ass with all their sanctimonious high hat. If there is a God I hope he/she deals with them accordingly for being so high handed and not turning the other cheek. Of course the Bible seems to be written so every transgression has some kind of counter effect. Turn the other cheek. Do unto others …

  18. 18

What do you mean you can't articulate? Why? Because you can't attack one of your own??? Tell you what, just pretend its Bush and Gonzalez instead of Obama and Holder. Go write your rant and then search and replace with the correct names. Don't be a hypocrite. YOU PROMISED.

  19. 19

Perez I'm all for equality and gay rights, but do you know what happens to some of these people when they are found out to be gay in the military? It isn't always a good thing. I'm sure it comes out anyway in small units, but I think gays may face MORE discrimination in the military if they feel they need to come out with it.

  20. 20

By the way, you drank the Obama koolaid Perez, along with too many other people in this country, and now you're reaping what you sow. He doesn't care about anyone but himself and he's more focused on being a celebrity than getting the job done. Worst president since Nixon!

  21. 21

I don't understand what Obama is doing. He mentioned something about making policy for gays in the military before the ban is ended, something about separate barracks…

  22. 22

Dov is absolutely correct. My husband is military-he has his hair cut a certain way, no visible tattoos, limited facial hair, no piercings. There are even some old-school military rules saying that you can only have sexual intercourse in the missionary position and crazy things like that-of course not EVERYTHING is followed..but basically the military does everything in MILITARY fashion. You are a number-your ssn to be exact. If I want to do anything on post, I am a dependent-now where is the equality there? I am an equal part of my marriage, I bring in MORE money-yet I am a "dependent" but do I complain-no..because I knew about the rules when I married him-and he knew of them when he signed up. Basically, there is no being an "individual" in the military-expressing yourself isnt something that is widely accepted. I do believe in equality, but changing laws that are in place to PROTECT a group of people will only cause problems and HUGE financial blows for America in the long run. We are in the middle of a war-now is not the time to go changing shit around.

  23. 23

it's really sad that the administration won't just trust the country's legal system to handle this issue and instead wants to mull it over for months and months in congress so that they probably won't even come to a conclusion because people can't agree (as usual). We need to get rid of all the senators and representatives, raise taxes, cut medicare/cade and really get this country back on track. All they do is talk and they never actually walk the walk. Let's point some more fingers. Also, people should be able to serve openly, it's obviously unconstitutional for anyone to say you can't be who you are.

  24. 24

I'm also a bit tired of people blaming Obama and his 'muslim' ways. He's not a muslim people.. get over it. And it's the whole administration, not just the one guy. Yes he signed up to take the fall but i'm sure he has people around him pushing him in different directions.

  25. 25

Stick to what you know, celebrities and snark. The judge stepped out of her judicial power with her ruling. If you want something done, it must be done properly or it will never stand. What the President is doing is absolutely right, remember, he's a lawyer–as am I–and he knows what he's doing.

  26. 26

    Re: miss_michelle6

Are you actually daft?! Trust the legal system … there is a reason that Congress creates laws. When we trusted the legal system in the Dred Scott decision, black people were deemed property (fungible). The courts are the wrong forum for the creation of laws because it leaves weighty decisions in the hands of one. Judges are supposed to interpret the laws, this judge overstepped her bounds and Obama took an oath to defend and protect the Constitution (which I'm almost positive you've never read or you wouldn't have made such a daft comment). I'm glad that our president is doing that and ensuring that the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell is handled in a proper manner rather than a hasty one. Be patient people!

Ever WONDER “` WHY “` there is SOOOO much gay bullying?? Here's your answer people!! The Gov is nothing BUT a BUNCH of FUCKING “ HOMOPHOBES!!
and they ““ PREACH IT ““ LOUD AND CLEAR!!

  28. 28

Perez you are an idiot. Why don't you pay attention to politics instead of following Lohan tweets. The Obama administration is appealing it ONLY because if it is allowed to go through on only 1 judges ruling it will have too many holes for stability. They want and end to Don't ask Don't tell but want it to go through the proper course (Congress…Supreme Court) There are precedents for appealing case even if you agree with them for them to go through the proper channels.

  29. 29

Personally, I think this injunction should be kept in place. I have no problem with gay people in the military.

  30. 30

Doesn't anyone understand that it's not Obama… most of the stuff he tries to do, never happens because of the supreme court and the senate and all that. This country will never get anything done because it takes years and years and people getting along, which will never happen. Republicans will deny anything that the democrats try to do. It's sad, this country can't get along. But please don't blame obama.. he sadly has no power. People just give up on Obama, and they don't understand politics.

  31. 31

When will they get that this is a civil rights issue????
Why would want members of your volunteer military to be dishoionest & dishonourable???
