Robert Redford is now a knight!
French President Nicolas Sarkozy inducted actor/director Robert Redford into France’s elite Legion of Honor. During the ceremony Sarkozy commended Redford for his decades of film and his work to protect the environment.
Sarkozy told Redford that he is an “incarnation of the United States and all that that country represents." He believes people will continue to watch and enjoy his films forever.
Redford was honored and thanked the French people saying, "I will continue with my commitment to make cinema that opens people's spirits and goes beyond borders, and this prize will help me do that."
The Legion of Honor was created by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802, with some of the other members being Clint Eastwood and Canadian director David Cronenberg.
This is an exciting event for Robert! Congrats!!!
