Angelina To Most Likely Get Film Permit In Bosnia

She asked and she shall receive!

The producers on Angelina Jolie's directorial debut say that she will most likely get a permit to shoot her controversial film in Bosnia.

Culture Minister Gavrilo Grahovac revoked the film company's license because of the movie's plot, which follows the storyline of a Muslim woman who falls in love with her Serbian rapist.

She has already begun shooting in Hungary, however Jolie is adamant on filming in the country to "remind people of what happened during the war in Bosnia."

The license was revoked on Wednesday, but Jolie and her team insist that it was a technical issue and a misunderstanding.

There is good news for the film as poducer Edin Sarkic said, "I was promised by the Ministry of Culture that the licence will be issued on Monday. I will then have twenty days to set up a score of locations and I think it is doable."

What do U think about Angelina's new movie?

Wtf ?? people don't need a reminder of what happend during the Bosnian War , it was during the freaking 90's and Bosnians are still alive today that remember quite well, the horror they went through ,noone needs a reminder. The Serbian "soldiers" would kill all the Boys and Men,and then rape the little girls and the women, and then also kill them as well.To turn it into a love story is pathetic. They wouldn't actually kill Bosnian soldiers but they would kill civilians, it wasn't much of a war, it was more of a freaking massacare.Same thing happend with Croatians and Albanians. If this story is told the right way, it would probably be the scariest movie of all time, it would make a great horror movie.

Directors who took risky subjects always got critical acclaim with their movies. Not every film has to be and over sensitive piece of garbage like most of the stuff that comes out today.Am telling you, conservatives are killing Showbiz.

Blahblah - you having been posting hatred against the serbs each time there is a news story. This is a prime example of people spreading hatred of another country based on extremist groups and spreading the stereotypes perpetuated by the media. Please stop forming opinions based on the biased and one sided media. Serbia does have an ugly past, but so does the U.S. and many other countries. War is ugly. No one group is ever innocent. Bad things happened from all sides in the Bosnian war, and there were many crimes against serbs as well, but nobody cares to hear about that. Get your facts straight before you judge.

WTF perez? That 'storyline' was disproven as myth… people are just out to defame her as usual. Rude of you to spread lies as truth. Suddenly you seem to support those who do. Are you in Huvane's pocket? So much for not bullying and passing judgement! guess you only meant for aniston.

except that the movie doesn't "follow the storyline of a Muslim woman who falls in love with her Serbian rapist."
    .
ANd this is from the mouth of the woman playing the lead role.

Re: blahblah12 – It is obvious that blahblah doesn't know what actually happened in Bosnia. I am from Bosnia and I was there during the war, and just so you know Bosnia was composed of Serbians, Croatians, and Muslims, all living together before the war started. Crimes were committed from all sides and it was the innocent people that suffered. This was a secular war that divided people based on religion and caused them to turn against each other. I am Serbian and I was in Bosnia during the war and I have seen what the Muslims and the Croatians did to the Serbian people and just because that was not televised doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Clearly you are brainwashed by the media, maybe if you did some research or actually knew what happened your posts would have some merit.

I am against the movie just because of the fact that it will not be based on true events and it will be yet another incorrect history lesson for those who actually do not know what happened in Bosnia.

wtf are you talking about? Bosnians know less than her majesty Jolie?

  13. 13

Is there a permit we can get to keep Angelina in Bosnia forever?

Re: cdagrl – But the fact remains that Serbian soldiers did commit war-crimes and rape Muslim-Bosnian women and girls. A movie depicting the alleged storyline would be completely inappropriate.
She probably will get to film in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I just hope she doesn't make a film with that plot. It would be disrespectful to those rape survivors. If it's just about a Muslim-Bosnian and a Serb falling in love, with no rape, then obviously that's very different.
Re: bich45 – The only reason to make a film about the personal experiences of the people of the former Yugoslavia during the war would BE sensitivity. I'm sure even Angelina would agree with this. If you want un-emotional facts on the history of the region, go and look at news archives and documentaries. You'd be un-likely not to feel any emotion or sensitivity for the people if you did that though.

Re: kuklaa – Actually my Mother is Croatian, and of course you would say that, your Serbian. I know what i am talking about . Ask any Croatian, Bosnian or Albanian.Serbians got killed in the war too , i know that, but maybe if your leaders actually cared about you guys instead of wanting a "bigger serbia" things would of been better .

Re: blahblah12 – I'm Bristish, but I'm also a little bit Italian and Slovenian, and I just feel so sorry for what the people of the Balkans had to see and live through.

At the end of the day, Angelina wading in their only 15 YEARS after the Srebrenica massacre and insisting on filming on location in Bosnia, where thousands of Bosniaks Serbs and Croats died is insensitve. She should continue filming in Hungary or where ever.

  18. 18

She's talented and a serious filmmaker who learned from Clint Eastwood that you diversify. The story has to be compelling because she is fighting to tell it.

  19. 19

Re: Emesa – Your Slovenian and Italian ?, im Croatian and Italian ,thats awesome. But yes, i agree with you,its a pretty bad idea, Bosnians don't like it because its insensitive,(i don't blame them), and Serbs don't like it because of the portrayl. Its not like she cares, she just wants an Oscar for directing.

  20. 20

    Re: blahblah12Re: blahblah12

And the Muslims and Croats did the same darling..it is called "war" for a reason. It is never one sided.

  21. 21

    Re: cdagrl
Thank you so much for this wonderful post, I could not have said it better myself. xx

  22. 22

    Re: blahblah12
Um honey you Croats joined the Nazi's and gave up everyone. You also NEVER had a land, you sit on what has ALWAYS been Serbia, look it up on any map honey.
So stfu w/your idiocy and stupidity. I had Serbian friends who were raped and killed not just during the Bosnia war by Croats but during WWII.

  23. 23

Re: OhBigDeal – Umm "honey", theres a reason the wars were Serbia vs everyone else. Don't you see a problem with Serbia always having a war with its neighbors ?? maybe they would of won if they actually killed soldiers instead of innocent civilians.Oh and thanks for reminding me, Serbia lost in a war with Germany as well.

  24. 24

Re: OhBigDeal – It is one sided when Serbia started every single war.

    25

Re: OhBigDeal – I don't think anyone is saying all Serbs were bad or that Serbs have never suffered. Of course they have, but sadly we've all seen those pictures of Muslim bodies being exhumed form mass graves in Bosnia and Herzegovina from towns like Zvornik or from the Srebrenica massacre, and I (and I think blahblah12 does too) think this is all just too recent to make a movie out of. Especially one that is going to be filmed RIGHT THERE on location. I think out of respect to ALL those who suffered in this conflict, Angelina should not persist in filming there if it will cause distress.

  26. 26

I am from bosnia sarajevo, i live in the netherlands and im so done with the people still arguing about who "killed to most". people just have to stfu and not think about who was worst, but think about all the lives lost (it doesnt matter if serb, croatian, bosnian). It makes me really sad because people still fight and kill eachother(in clubs or ghetto-neighbourhoods) STOP fighting! one of my cousins got stabbed 2 yrs ago by a serb in a club just because he is bosnian… the war is OVER remember

well i think its good what angelina is doing and it is bullshit that the bosnians dont want this movie because i was in sarajevo when angelina was there(this summer) and all the bosnians where really happy and excited when she came. this way bosnia is a little in the spotlight and its good that actually SOMEbody has a little more interest for bosnia and what happened and wants to put it out there. trust me lotsa people dont know what happened(and the plot doesnt matter cus this stuff happened in reality these are just facts)… sounds stupid but 50% of people i meet here in the netherlands dont know shit, or they ask: aw ur poor child ur from bosnia? im so sorry there is a war going on right??
    Thankyou angie !

  27. 27

I thought she was going to stay home with her children.

  28. 28

Queen Angelina is certainly entitled to do this movie, because she hails from the country with a flawless history.Who else could save the world?!And who cares if there are some historical mistakes,it's Hollywood.Oh,and Angelina your next child should be from India or South America,in order to complete your picture perfect Benetton ad/family.

  29. 29

She has already begun shooting in Hungary, however jolie is adamant on filming in the country to " remind people of what happened during the war in Bosnia."

i am pretty damn sure no one needs a reminder of the horrors that took place in Bosnia. how dare this bitch even begin to believe she has an idea of what the people of Bosnia suffered. if she really cares then she will donate every last penny she receives from participating in this movie. Bosnia is still in a state of crisis and she is clearly taking advantage and profiting from those much less fortunate.

  30. 30

blah blah - I'm just saying every time there is a bosnia story, you're perpetuating hate against the serbs, retract a little, and then spew the same hatred the next time there is another story. I'm just calling you out on it. Everyone committed crimes, but the Serbs are the ones with the scarlett letters permanently on their backs because of the media. If you limit your perspective by what you hear on the news or the opinions of your family, please don't spread this prejudice. I could be making specific references to atrocities committed against the serbs by muslims and croats, but I'm not, we're all trying to move on, you should to. And Angelina needs to know her limits in dealing with such a sensitive topic such as rape and politics. I hope she's sinking her own money into this because it's going to flop.

    Re: OhBigDeal
    1) what happened in Bosnia, was not a way. It was a genocide.
    2) can we stop reffering to just one group by their religion? Serbs, Croats, and Muslims is a WRONG way to be labelling. Either it is Serbs, Croats, & Bosnians. OR Orthodox, Catholics, & Muslims. Reality is, the "Serbs" are actually Bosnians.

Another point, someone mentioned that she should just continue filming in Hungary? Well, if the movie is about a Bosnian story, shouldn't it be filmed there? Don't Bosnians have the right to reap the benefits of this film if it is going to continue? If it is going to be filmed anyways, Bosnia's economy might as well benefit from it!

Moreover, Bosnian Muslims are also working on this movie. Why scrutinize Jolie? Either be upset with all of them, or let it go.

I am ethnically Bosnian Muslim and I feel that it is nice to have Bosnia in the spotlight. We need to recognize that the Bosnian woman is still the victim.

For once, when I say I am Bosnian, people won't reply "what? Botswana?"

Also, I admit atrocities took place from all sides, and that is undeniable. Read "A Key to my Neighbours House" which follows 3 Bosnian families (2 Muslim, and one Orthodox), as well as two families from Rwanda (1 Hutu and 1 Tutsi). For those who don't think that Serbs suffered at all.

I do, however, assert that this GENOCIDE was induced by Serbia's funding and military tactics.

The movie is going to be filmed regardless, so why get angry and fight over it?

and.. there is my rant! Sorry guys for making it soooo long!
