Leave It To Beaver's Mom Barbara Billingsley Passes Away

Barbara Billingsley of Leave It to Beaver died Saturday at the age of 94.

Billingsley was most known for her portrayal of the classic TV mom, June Cleaver.

Judy Twersky, a family spokeswoman said that Billingsley had died of polymyalgia, a rheumatoid disease, at her home in Santa Monica, CA.

The actress had spoken fondly of Leave It to Beaver, saying that her character "was a loving, happy stay-at-home mom, which I think is great" and that "it was a happy experience for me, and very timely."

She is survived by her two sons, Drew Billingsley and Glenn Billingsley, Jr.

So sad. We'll miss America's favorite mom.

I can't think about her without reminiscing of the classic scene in Airplane ("Cut me some slack, Jack".) R.I.P. Mrs. Billingsley.

I guess this means we'll never hear her complain about Ward being hard on the Beaver again, I still watch this show on Netflix, for some corny reason I love it, toodle loo Mrs Cleaver

I'm a baby boomer and I HAtED this show. What a bund of phony baloney. I had friends whose fathers were doctors and military officers and I used to go home with them after school. Their mothers NEVER had on a dress and pearls. What a crock of crap. And Tony Dow did an interview once and said that Hugh Beaumont who played the father on the show was basically a total s.o.b. who hated kids. The show was so phony and as a kid, I never related to it.

    RIP June Cleaver. Sadly missed.

No disrespect to the actress, but I never liked her character on LTB. I found her constant complaining and her seemingly endless need to bombard her husband with yet another Beaver related problem the second he stepped in the door irritating. And I thought this when I was a just a kid watching reruns of the show.

Re: dreamboat – I found them ALL extremely annoying. Oh, I loved Eddie. Eddie was Beaver's brother's friend who was probably a sociopath. I was hoping that 'Eddie' would go berserk and sneak into Beaver's house one night and send them all to '50's sitcom' heaven.
