Broadway Drama!

Xanadu star Marty Thomas filed papers in NYC to reveal the person behind the salacious Twitter feed, bwayanonymous.
"Which Avenue Q cast member gave Marty Thomas crabs?" Tweeted bwayanonymous.
Of course, Thomas called the accusations "false" and "malicious" while denying the claim.
"I do not suffer from, nor have I ever suffered from a sexually transmitted disease," he wrote in the court papers. "Clearly, there is no doubt that other people in the Broadway community saw and were affected by the statement."
The anonymous Twitter feed has since been disabled, but not before a few parting words.
Bwayanonymous Tweeted:
"Before 'damages' even become relevant, you have to prove something was libelous or slanderous in nature. So if someone posts something that is actually true, or posts it in a way that doesn't assert it as a fact, then it isn't libel, or slander. It just means that you have to stop acting like a moron if people finding out about it damage your career."
Yikes!

You lost me at "Xanadu."
I hope they catch this person…most bullying is by other gays by the way….
What Bwayanonymous doesn't seem to know is that when commenting about venereal diseases, damages are automatically presumed. Even if it was true and is therefore not defamation, it is still an invasion of privacy (public disclosure of private facts).
The tweeter is a twat and deserves to be held legally responsible for his tweets. This behavior has to stop and those who do it need to be held accountable. The rules are not as clear cut as the twat thinks they are.
When are celebrities(?) going to learn about the "Streisand effect"?
Shared a cab with him once from Washington Heights to The Gershwin Theater when he as in Wicked! Nice guy.
Okay, Marty has been a friend of mine for years, and honestly, I really doubt that this information is true, but what if it was… Someone gave someone else crabs? WOOooooo… C'mon, there are way worse things to spread, and trust me, it's out of control here… Who would spread information like that and why? Sounds like a smear campaign. This dude is a super vocal talent, and if you remember, way back in the day, he is the person who knocked Britney Spears off of Starsearch! It's true!
This is stupid. Marty is a great guy (very talented, kind & cool. He also does a ton of fund-raising for Broadway Cares), but basically every theater person I know who has ever spent time on a tour bus has gotten crabs at one point or another. There are Many worse things to contract. Whether it was true or not, I'm pretty sure it is not career damaging information, On he other hand, go Marty! You got yourself picked up in Perez Hilton!
Regardless if it's true or not, seems like he brought more attention to the matter by pursuing the lawsuit. It probably generated a few laughs and jokes from the Broadway community if anything.
Bwayanonomous needs to talk to a lawyer about the definition of libel per se, unless he/she can prove someone bought Marty a seafood feast at the local Red Lobster.
