I hope his work has improved since "Australia" that was appalling. Style over substance I think.

Seyfried is a good choice for Daisy. McGuire is cute but not handsome enough for Gatsby….neither is DiCaprio.

Seyfried is not fey enough for Daisy, IMO. Daisy's a frailish, somewhat emotionally immature character. Leo would be about as wrong for Gatsby as Robert Redford was with the original; he's got too hard a look about him. You need someone who can play him more optimistically. Leo could be a good Tom Buchanan. I could see Natalie Portman as Jordan Baker, who is more sophisticated and morally ambiguous. Tobey, however, would be just about perfect for Nick Caraway. Jude Law would have been a good Gatsby.

    Leo and natalie!!

Natalie would make a terrible Daisy. She could be Nick's gf instead, Minge looks the part for Daisy but isn't the best actress, I'm not sure she could do as good a job as Mia Farrow.

    Not sure about Tobey.

Ugh please don't let Baz Luhrman f up one of my favorite books. He sucks as a director. I don't care what anyone says. The Romeo and Juliet film and Moulin Rouge were both terrible yet people acted like they were masterpieces because they were "unique" and "creative"
