dont-ask-dont-tell-injunction-permits-lt-dan-choi-to-re-enlist-in-the-army-as-an-openly-gay-man

This is truly amazing! A day to be remembered and celebrated!

Because of the injunction currently banning the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy, Lt. Dan Choi - who has fought tirelessly for gay rights in the military ever since he was kicked out over his sexuality - was able to re-enlist in the army yesterday as an openly gay man!

Although he originally intended to join the marines, he unfortunately found out he couldn't - but only because he was too old!

We're so thrilled to hear the news, and are so proud of Choi for being unrelenting in his fight for equal rights!

A well-deserved triumph, bb!

He may be able to enlist but not re-enlist since he was an officer and officers are not enlisted.

Congrats Lt. Dan!!!! I'm truly proud of the progression made towards homosexuals in the service. I can't believe they would judge against you and many others who are willing to fight and die for the country they love!!!!!

And, let's also give credit where credit is due. It is a group called the Log Cabin Republicans that filed the suit challenging DADT and asking for it to be overturned. Don't hear much about that in the media, though. I wonder why. Oh, yeah, because they want you to think that all Republicans and conservatives are homophobic.

not a celebrity so unimportant & irrelevant for this blog's true purpose

Here is a REAL American Heroe!
    Bravo!

i support gay rights, but believe there is nothing wrong with "don't ask don't tell."
I don't think sexuality should be made into an issue in the military, and doesn't need to be discussed. there have always been gays in the military. defining people by their differences, rather than their similarities is not the way to go. Anyone who qualifies for the military should be allow to enlist regardless of their sexual orientation… and to make it into a big deal is not helpful for equality.

Fuck that homo anderson cooper! making fun of tea baggers when he knows all about it. I would not serve under this nip nor shower with him. He is a liability to his squad and company. Obama is slowly destorying our country and now he is trying to screw with our military.

    Re: Me Myself and I

I think it's more about folks who are not openly gay that are somehow found out and then get the boot.

    Great news! It's about time!

Dear Lt Dan Choi thank you. Thank you for wanting to defend and protect the United States of America and me and my little boy. You have my respect and admiration. How could I ever repay you and other others who have served and for those currently in the service. Thank You,

Maybe they'll deploy him to Fudge-Pakistan.

the guy broke the UCMJ on national television resulting in an honorable discharge (which should have been dishonorable in my book) …. hello if a straight soldier did that he wouldn't be allowed back in so why should he? and he's supposed to be allowed to lead?! Hmm would seem that Duty, Honor, Country motto didn't sink in well now did it?

  20. 20

maybe you mean re-commissioned. officers are commissioned not enlisted.

Re: tiggerchick5 – I totally agree with you. What would people like Perez and Hollywood do if they can't single out entire groups of people to hate to promote their causes.

  22. 22

I am truly happy for him and the LGBT community. I got two standardized BS letters from my senators about this issue after I fired off emails to the both of them. I can't believe it has taken this long. Congrats to all!

  23. 23

too old for marines? will he start a crusade for age descrimination?

  24. 24

buuuullshit he couldn't join the Marines because he was too old. Good for him but he is going to be highly unpopular in the Army.
