Riots And Striking In France Cause Lady GaGa To Cancel!

| Filed under: Music MinutePolitikLady GaGa

lady gaga cancels paris shows

It's sad, but true.

It has been confirmed that Lady GaGa has canceled a string of concerts in Paris , do to the ongoing strike against Nicolas Sarkozy's pension reform. As we understand, the country is outraged, particularly French oil workers, that the country's president plans to up the retirement age from 60 to 62.

The country is currently being riddled with riots, with students participating in a huge blockades across the nation at their schools and oil works setting tires on fire in protest.

The situation is just too unstable for GaGa to be flown into the country. We're sure this will bum a lot of amazing little monsters out! (If not fuel the fires even more at the schools!)

Just remember, violence is not the answer. Have your voices heard, but not with fighting!

Also, what good is it to ruin the environment by burning tires? There are more effective ways to protest.

  2. 2

    Lucky France.

  3. 3

WOW! Inventing much, are we, he Perez?

There were HUGO protest rallies, but a lot of the very SMALL riots were staged by the police. There were NO huge blockades.

How can you be, all the time, so badly informed? Don't you ever read the papers?

they really need to get over the pension change. 60 is too young to retire when most french young people dont start working until 27. im getting annoyed with the riots all over paris.
-bad time to live in paris, check

Re: curiousred – there were huge blockades of certain airports in france, in marseille none of the garbage has been collected and it is pilling up all over the place, the french are doing "escargots" which is where they form a line on the highways and drive super slow, there are strikes on the metro, and trains to other countries which forces people to have to cancel there trips that cost them 100+ euros, the strike is effecting the economy, kids have been throwing rocks, cars have been lit on fire… its pretty big

    hey perez, some rectifications…
from 60 to 67 (in best case)
more over, country is more paralysed by fuel penuries than by riots, mostly caused by suburb people
but i agree with you violence is not the answer,
i'm quite sad not being able to Dance In The Dark on friday… :'(

I wish Americans were as passionate as the French when it came to the government changing laws to benefit the rich corporations.

Please report correctly it is the fact they they will up the retirement age and MUST work 42 years in total to receive full pension benefits. The riots are a small band, Paris is not burning, so in effect they must work till they are 67 to evenTHINK about retiring. No other european nation has stipulated both conditions only FRANCE. It is an inconvenience, but a necessary one. Everybody does not earn bucketloads to have the luxury of retiring early. Lada Gaga I am sure will understand and her little monsters will always be there waiting

Haha I guess Paris got lucky.

  11. 11

I don't blame them for rioting! Of course the rich will still be able to retire at a nice early age while the working class is kept working for 2 years more. 60 is a perfect age to retire.

    Re: CnSF
I honestly think French students are more aware when their rights are being taken away than American students are. They care, and it's sad that American youth is so apathetic.

Life's goal is not to work, life's goal is to have a joyful existence and the French just seem to grasp this. Who wants to spend the twilight of their life behind a desk or in a factory when they should be doing things they never had the time to do but always wanted to.

  13. 13

stupid! please inform urself before putting such shit on ur blog…its getting mainly a protest against the politics of sarkozy….remember his rassistic roma politics…
and the young in the suburbs are so upset because the promised help from sarkozy never came…can u blame them? 50% of those young are unemployed, without any perspective.
if the french always had used just their speech, and not violence. there still would be a king…
at least, they still know how to do it…and the american have forgotten

  14. 14

Actually I believe they are rescheduled for December :)

  15. 15

Concerts weren't canceled they were postponed a little while and it was because they were afraid they wouldn't be able to get her trucks there in time from denmark.

  16. 16

Hey France… the retirement age in America is NEVER. That is if you want to survive. :(

  17. 17

Ya and they have universal health care.
Haha that americans have to work until they die in their 80's should they live that long with no health insurance. Welcome to wlamart
    @
maybe that was part of the plan - if there was no health care, there would be fewer old people to finance. Hmmmm….

  18. 18

    Let them eat cake

  19. 19

Make love, not war… Luv GAGA!

  20. 20

Wow I live in france and its not that bad but it is a little chaotic. lines to get gas were hours long because the refineries were going on strike. traffic was crazy because the trains were on strike. its crazy. i understand she would skip it

    21

lucky france! if that`s what it takes, let`s make the whole continent "unstable", so that the ugly bitch never comes back.

  22. 22

The strikes are hardly noticeable and nothing gets done. As an American living in France I'm quite annoyed at the French. They whine and nothing gets done. Gaga should continue on.

  23. 23

Dear Perez, most of what you say is wrong …
The government wants to push the retiring age to 67, and most of all, the strikes are more about protesting about a government who makes bad decision without taking into account the opinion of the people.
We are tired of being used and lied to by Mr Sarkozy who only cares about rich people.

And no, we are not burning tires and there are not riots everywhere!!!
Miss GaGa cancelled the shows because the refineries are all on strike and the country is almost out of fuel. that's it s stop talking crap please !!

  24. 24

Jesus Christ Perez. Get yourself a copy checker. She didn't cancel DO to the ongoing strike - she cancelled DUE to.

  25. 25

    I AM A FRENCH GIRL

I HAVE NO CLASS BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE MAKING A "BLOCUS" IN FRONT OF MY SCHOOL!!!!!
IT'S CRAZY!!! we never saw that!!! we are 10 in class when it open!!! they put the fire on the dustbins of my highshool!!! it's a total crazy situation! in PARIS, there are so maaaaaaany people who are on the street to say that they are not happy of the sarkozy's choice
and we don't get enough gasoline

and i think all the people don't care about lady gaga! sorry but it's not our preoccupation !!!!
the precupation of the france youth(or less young) is our future

    and the france is sick!!!!!

  26. 26

Que Sera Sera. C'est la vie. Get used to the idea of working longer and harder with less government support. The cracks are starting to widen in the world economic system. It can no longer support 6+ billion people. Foot-stomping like a spoilt two year old aint going to make a difference. Go to a cafe, order a coffee and talk some philosophy or art-house cinema.

  27. 27

DUE to…not DO to the ongoing strike.

  28. 28

Always interesting (and funny) to see how our local events are considered in distant countries =)

Regarding violence, juste one fact: in 2009, in France, there has been 682 homicides (any kind of homicide: weapon, poison, and so on) for a population 0f 65 millions of people.
