SLDN Advises Gay Military Members To Keep Quiet About Their Sexual Preference For The Time Being!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayLegal MattersPolitikLGBT

This is absolutely infuriating.

Now that the ridiculous 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy has been reinstated, The Servicemembers Legal Defense Network is advising those homosexuals who may have applied to join the military to proceed with caution when discussing their sexual preference!

SLDN spokesman Trevor Thomas explains:

"If a judge in a higher court stays the ruling, 'don't ask, don't tell' will become law again. The Pentagon could use their statement of homosexuality against them."

However, although the legality of the policy is still a mess, OutServe, an underground gay service members group, claims that behind closed doors, most people in military aren't taking the policy seriously!

Co-founder 'J.D. Smith' explains:

"Straight service members are going up to people and asking are you gay and are you a lesbian, the policy is now over. At unit levels peer-to-peer we are seeing people come out, but we are still hiding it from the leadership level. Discussion in units has all been pretty positive."

We're thrilled to hear it, but the fact that it has to be kept from the higher-ups is still a serious issue!

Enough is enough! This policy needs to GO, and ASAP!

Good… this shit needs to be around. I'm REALLY getting sick of gay people FORCING themselves on things. People over 42 aren't allowed to enlist, people with mental disorders aren't allowed to enlist, felons aren't allowed to enlist… why not fight for them? Huh? Equal rights for ALL right? You're pathetic, I hope the gays do force themselves to be let in, I know a few guys I was in with would LOVE for someone to try and force them to tolerate a platoon of fruits. You think because you can cry and make someone change a law that all of the sudden people are going to mafically accept it? Get real. As long as gays cry for "EQUAL TREATMENT FOR ALL" but only try to show why THEY should be treated differently they will be frowned upon and be a lesser people.

my thoughts are simple…you join the military to be a soldier not to be gay. you don't tell people you are fuckkng a dog, a horse, a super model or another man's ass. its nobody's business but your own so keep it to yourself. you joined to be a soldier not give bj's.

I'm all for equality - but at least DADT keeps LGBT service members safe. I am afraid to think of the hate crimes that will happen once a bunch of people come out due to fearful &/or prejudice thinking. Maybe DADT is 2 steps back, but they're safer.

Just another one of Obama's favored victim group du jour, being thrown under the bus.
Just think about poor Juan Williams, being fired from NPR.
    Muslims = IN
    Baptists = OUT
Muslims, the new "untouchables" replacing blacks.

  5. 5

Somebody please get a microphone in front of Obama and ask him if NPR acted “stupidly.”

  6. 6

seriously who fucking cares, save all that bullshit, gays have always been around, the military is an institution in itself.. how 'infuriating' would it be perez for you to run a mile? this is the last damn problem in the military.. next!

  13. 13

they should change it from "don't ask ,don't tell" to "don't fuck guys in the ass"

I wonder if gays are aware this will be causing more trouble than anything in the long run..Do gays need special recognition and or special treatment in the military? That's what it sounds like to me. A metro/hetero/homosexual is not serving in the military. Nor is a black/brown or white guy. A PERSON is serving. You do not have straight people going around saying "HEY GUYS IM HETEROSEXUAL I LOVE GIRLS"..But for some reason gay people do. Obviously for attention. Another downside is the legal problems. A gay person could not only exploit that to get out of the military early but lawsuits could also happen. When you get a bunch of guys together..They call each other pansies/fairies,etc. Same with drill instructors. So with this crap being lifted..If a drill instructor was to say "Stop being such a fairy" to a gay guy..then thats all she wrote. He could demand honorable discharge for harassment, Sue the army, etc. This should of stayed intact. When you are VOLUNTEERING for something and when you sign your name on that dotted line you are ACCEPTING those terms. Psh.

O.K. if every gay in the military stood up tom. at 9am ,time zone respective, and said, " I am Gay" are they going to kick 66,000 or more trained vets out? I would protest. Sometimes, if you want s/thing you just stand up. I think gays in the military just stand up and take it and the law will have to follow.

    Re: NookiesWA

WHAT special treatment? People who are in the closet are being found out by homophobic tattlers and give the boot. They simply want to not be fired for being gay! Is that "special treatment"? You really are a dumb cun*t.

Re: luvs2tango – It may seem that way to an old school sovereign American. I understand. There is so much international migration, for business and world wide relocation now that respect for all cultures is being demanded. The whole world is becoming a melting pot, and as such, a new paradigm is appearing 9and this is world wide - that places no one group above another in the interest of everyone getting along and respecting one another.

Re: ParalyZzzZzer – They just shove THAT problem into a trailer until they decide what to do about it, if anything.

Tell the straight soldier who gets shot in the head, because he is to busy wondering if the gay soldier behind him is looking at his ass. Thanks Perez, after reading all of your posts for the last few months, I think I am actually starting to dislike gay people.

"The whole world is becoming a melting pot, and as such, a new paradigm is appearing 9and this is world wide."
    I respectfully disagree, @v@.
The whole world is NOT becoming a melting pot.
One of the greatest virtues of America's greatness, in it's growth to becoming a world leader, was one language, and the same laws for all…excepting the last 50 years.
The Muslims are now wanting Sharia Law in America, their own laws! That's breathtaking to even be considered. Europe is almost too late to save itself. The Muslim's want to stay unassimilated and they have done a good job of having two societies in these countries. Think how terrifying this would be to the women here in America. No rights to own property. Honor killings.
Where are the Freminazis to shed light on this lack of women's rights problems?
Sarkozy and Merkel would tell you there's one big mess in their countries because of unassimilation and the Muslim's fight it every step of the way, unlike other immigrants. Merkel just two days ago said multiculturism has been an epic fail. I would have included England's leader, with the other two, but it's too late for England, to save itself from the Muslims…the Saudis and Pakistanis.

Keep that shit to yourselves, I don't give a fuck what sexuality you are. Why the fuck do gay people feel like they need to yell it from the rooftops to everyone that they are gay? Especially in the military. What the fuck does it matter? You're there to protect and serve, not to have a lil slumber party talking about the biggest dick you took in your ass.

  22. 22

My husband is in the army and in his former unit there was an open lesbian and an open gay man and not one person had a problem with it. They both brought their gf/bf to functions etc. At a party a few party crashers flipped out because the girl had her girlfriend there and the party crashers were calling them names and saying really stupid shit and the guys from her unit (including my husband) ending up kicking their asses. As my husband and his friends look at it, it doesnt matter what youre sexuality is, its how you do your job. in the military you are all a family, you have to trust your fellow soldier with your life and it doesnt really matter who they go home to as long as they get home!

  23. 23

to anyone who thought that gays in the military are a bunch of parade float-riding glitter adorned Liza lovers, fuck you and your freedoms that they defend. They're not asking to make out in front of their commanding officer, they're asking that they not lose their job if someone finds out they ever make out with a member of the same sex.
Gay people aren't asking to play the game by different rules, they're just asking to play.

As a side note tho, and this is more for Perez's take on this issue, it would be remarkably unwise for service members to begin coming out of the closet without having a bill signed sealed and delivered. It could flip back as California did with prop 8 and that would be devistating to the people that did come out.

Re: luvs2tango – I'm not saying that I like 2010 world over the old; but just saying that it is what it is with the advance of the future generational demographics. It IS becoming the existence of many cultures within one set of boundaries, unless that country plays heavy handed; i.e. imagine insisting on American style justice in Iran. I comprehend sovereign countries, and appreciate discernable identities and differences. The sharia thing is happening world wide. The concept of two sets of laws/justice in a country that is not predominantly of that faith asks the question of who is more answerable to which laws, and the sometimes resulting legal opposition of the two. Canada has thus far quashed Sharia law due in part to this muddiness. Our cultures assumes a separation of church and state, whereas sharia seems to extend from an intertwined faith and cultural state. Assimilation minimizes special interest groups & conflict, but only if one group doesn't become exceedingly large, i.e. Latino America or Quebec; but respect for cultures mostly keeps the peace unless a group is feeling unusually or unfairly oppressed.

  28. 28

Considering the rather uncertain status of DADT, I think it best that gay servicemembers keep quiet for now; otherwise, they could find themselves drummed out of the military.

Re: stellarburrito – While I find your argument lacking in tact and subtlety, I do agree that the gay community should be a little less one-sided when it comes to demanding equal treatment for all. If felons, for example, were seriously repentant and wanted to atone for their crimes, then why not let them do so by serving in the military? I read somewhere that the Hell's Angels once offered themselves for military service during Vietnam; what better way for these guys to repay their debt to society than by military service?
