Wowza! People are really upset over this spread! We feel live we've seen so much worse, but whatever!

Katie Couric has added her name to the list of people upset over the risque GQ Glee spread by Terry Richardson. She was so outraged about it that she took time out of her CBS News broadcast to comment on how "disappointed" she was with the youngsters choice to pose for the shoot.

Check out the video about to hear Katie lay into the show for being too "adult". (above)

I don't have a problem with adults posing in the magazine. My problem is their audience is young, and they should be aware of that when they do photo shoots.

  2. 2

This is why female anchors are not taken seriously.

  3. 3

REALLY!!!???? Seriously Katie, this is what you're worried about your 14 year old daughter being exposed to? REALLY?!!!?? A men's magazine photo shoot of two 24 year old women posing with their 28 year old male costar? REALLY!??!?!! Are you Andy Rooney now? Find something better to complain about!!!!

  4. 4

I honestly don't get it. That vampire shoot where they were naked and covered with blood was much more risque than the Glee cover. And nobody said a word about it. At least not that I noticed. These are ADULT ACTORS on an ADULT magazine cover. Who in the hell cares?

  5. 5

    Stupid!

  6. 6

yeah…and notice how all the people who have a problem with it are OLD. as fuck.

  7. 7

Just because they sing and dance does not make it a kids show. The subject material is very adult. People need to get over it and realize that the people shown in the GQ spread are all over 21. The dude is almost 30. This is not HS Musical. Oh wait, I really enjoyed that pic.

  8. 8

i guess if your a parent its a big deal.. us kids really don't see the big deal.. They tap into really sexual things on the show anyways.. and plus its on FOX.. the station known to push the envelope.. ironically.. they have FOX News :S

  9. 9

I'm a Christian and I feel as though I "should" be upset by it, but I agree with the statement that one of the actresses made that said no child should be looking at the magazine let alone have access to it. Being that the actors who did the spread are adults the whole thing is being blown way overboard.

  10. 10

I don't watch Glee and I don't care about Glee. I am tired of the moralizing of the media to gain favor among the scared and self righteous. The "youngsters" of Glee are all over 18 and they are adults. They have the right to express themselves. This constant fear of "influencing" the children is getting old. It's been used far too long by lazy parents who have no influence over their children. Kids don't read GQ. If they have access to it. It's the parents fault, bottom line.

  11. 11

even though the characters are hs kids, i don't think that's the intended audience. everyone i know who watches the show are in their 20's. just because stewie from family guy is a baby doesn't mean the show is appropriate for young kids. people need to get a clue.

  12. 12

    Uh…oh!

  13. 13

I agree with her. They can pose for playboy for all I care but not together as a Glee cast, in a school and/ or school uniform in a regular fashion magazine.

  14. 14

I seriously cant believe this is such a huge controversy. These are grown women and 1 grown man. I could understand if they were still in their teens but they are now where near being a teenager. There are far worse issues out there in the world than this magazine spread. War,poverty, bullying etc. Get a life Katie Couric and Parents Television Council.

  15. 15

Just because a lot of teens watch it, and it portrays teens, it doesn't make it a family show. It does have a large following among young adults and gay men & women as well, but even teens know the difference between fantasy and reality. Is it really worth it arguing about and getting upset over fictional characters?

  16. 16

The problem is that they were dressed like school girls and being photographed in a school. If you can't see the problem with that, I guess you have been totally desensitized to the objectification of girls and can't see that these images are harmful to young girls.

    17

    agreed

  18. 18

    Bummer,

I seemed to have missed the memo that GQ must always be "glee-like."

and that every glee actor must always be "glee-like" 24/7

  19. 19

    Nazi!

  20. 20

    fuck you katie

  21. 21

This is ridiculous! Glee is about sex, having babies, sex, and sexy dressed highschool kids. They've touched on big topics such as forced sex ( britney and artie) but people are worried about their kids seeing a GQ Magazine? As if they're allowed to watch the show in the first place!

  22. 22

    Re: rosebud99
Do you think there would have been a ruckus if the roles were reversed and it were the guys in character just in their briefs in suggestive poses?

  23. 23

These "kids" are in their 20s and quite able to do whatever magazine spread they want. GQ isn't aimed at kids to read, anyway, so what's the deal? Plenty of other, far more underaged kids have donw worse. Look at Momsen recently. Where's the PTCA (or whatever it's called) when they should be ripping into her for underage chest flashing and illegal smoking? Get your priorities together.

  24. 24

i don't see how the pictures are offensive at all ! i am so sick and tired of hearing about these pictures and how much of a bad influence it has on children. Glee is no way a family show, never has been. they are all adults-there have been worse pictures than that. if parents can't handle their own children and what they watch or how they dress, they will find a way to blame the media nine times out of ten. people need to get over this and move the hell on.

  25. 25

Who cares what Katie Coutic says anymore…right now she's a joke in the newsworld and about to lose her job.b/c people dont take her seriously.

  26. 26

really katie couric? you can't even speak from the heart about this issue that you seem to be so passionate about?? you really had to write this out and read it on the teleprompter. thats just sad.

  27. 27

When people say, "oh, they may be adults but they play teens on TV and they're posing as their teen characters," what you're doing is personalizing their TV characters. They're NOT REAL people, and we can go on and on with the sociological theories about objectifying young women or influencing teens, but the bottom line is, those with enough sense know the difference between what is real and what isn't. If your kids don't know, then they shouldn't be watching the show.

  28. 28

Aren't all these "kids" old enough to make the choice to do the shoot? It's not that bad of pictures. It's not like they did a sex tape like Bubble Butt!

  29. 29

I must agree I mean I know they are adults and GQ is an adult magazine. However its dis hearting to see these photos as a representation of this show. There's not many shows on these days that are family friendly and its sad that they would stoop to this level just for the sake of publicity. Even though these are adults they ARE playin high school kids that most Teens and children look up to. I just feel its the wrong message despite worse we may have seen in the past… I mean if in the 90's the 90210 bunch did this people would have made just as big of a stink as they did when Britney did it. Just because we've seen it over and over doesnt make it right. We should be able to as parents trust at least 1 er 2 outlets to entertain us and our kids without having to worry about what might happen on the sidelines :(

  30. 30

Great job Katie — with ya 100%. So glad she brought it up on her newscast — fabulous!

  31. pinki says – reply to this

    31

I agree with her. Also the pictures are sexist as the boys where not in their underwear as well.

  32. 32

This is so silly. Did anyone else notices the cover with Taylor Momsen who is actually under 18? That should be a bigger deal then this crap.

  33. 33

America needs to stop this bulls..hit. High school kids are doing far more worst things behind their parents back. Come on people…stop being so f..ucking ignorant. Additionally, these pictures were displayed in a adult male magazine…not f..ucking teen cosmo, tiger beat, etc. Now can the media to pay their attention to bigger news, such as the war?

  34. 34

Re: Thats whats up – Exactly…and that's why there's Disney, Nickelodeon, Discovery kids… you don't want your kids exposed to adult content..then limit their channel viewing to only these three…it's what I do in my home..it's my f..ucking job as a parent to monitor what my kids is exposed to..it's not the media's responsibility,it's solely mine. The media is not in the business for parenting.

  35. 35

The character of Quinn, played by Dianna Agron, cheated on her boyfriend with another guy, got pregnant by him, and told her dumb jock of a boyfriend, played by Corey Monteith, that he's the one that got her pregnant by pre-maturely ejaculating in a hot tub they were in together. They already are slutty on the show, yet some of you are calling it a family show and making a big deal out of these pictures.

  36. 36

Wow, provactive lollies - never bare skinned Kojak for me aymore. Instead of mis

  37. 37

Most of the population - especially younger folks who have grown up in our hyper-sexualized culture - are so used to women objectifying themselves in magazines that this shoot is really no big deal at all. But these images are not neutral and they do impact our society. These two ladies didn't pose as Lea Michelle and Diana Agron - they posed as their underage characters. If somebody asked me to do that, I'd personally find it creepy. And why has no one else commented on the fact that Cory Monteith is completely dressed, and that it's only the ladies who are scantilly clad? How is THAT ok?

And to say that GQ's audience is adult is a poor argument when you realize that these photos are all over the internet and any child capable of googling can find them. Anyway, these aren't the first sexy photos teens or adults have seen, but does that make it ok? Are we striving to become totally numb to sexuality?

  38. 38

Wow, provocative lollies! Never again a bare skinned Kojak. Old gal should concentrate on news in English instead of also mangling foreign words. Gestalt, German, physical shape = sorely lacking here.

  39. 39

PS Worst site ever for updating comments.

  40. 40

Representative Raul M. Grijalva was just sent a package to his office with swastikas on the outside and white powder (turned out to be nothing) on the inside…but this is what upsets our media?? Pathetic.

    41

Maybe old people have the sense to know when something is done in bad taste. The girls became sex objects and you don't see the guy in his underwear. It just tells you how young (supposedly adult in age) girls can be used by the entertainment industry to sell themselves as sex objects. The two girls are truly insecure about themselves and they thought this will show the world I'm sexy and talented (nose and all).

  42. 42

I think I've seen at least one of the pictures (is it the girl by a locker wearing bikini panties?). If I were Katie Kourik and look like she does (a fat, middled-aged, dumpy woman–sorry), I'd be upset at the locker girl's pictures! Please, Katie Kouric…Kourik. Stick to doing news badly in the afternoons, 'kay?

  43. 43

100% w/Katie!! Nobody would've given a ratz azz if Lea would have spread her legs to show us her lunch box in a highschool locker room if she did not do so representing GLEE in a magazine and interviewing as Glee actors. Rather she could take it outside perhaps on a picnic table, twirling her hair and sucking a lollipop as the birds flew by….hmm come to think of it either way is beyond stupid. Also the show gives me a headache as it is too sweet…if i hear the nasally whinny desparate voice about her effn heartache I change channels pronto!

  44. 44

they are 24 and 30 years old…get a grip already!!!

    45

Wow, people don't give kid's enough credit. I'm pretty sure even the youngest of fans (and I'm sorry, the show should not be viewed by 8 year olds anyway) know the true ages of the stars and can easily differenciate the difference between thier real lives and the characters they play on TV. Honestly, quit treating teenagers like mentally ill doughheads. Parents should be telling their kids that Glee is just a show and the people on it are just actors - but then again, I'm sure kids know that already on their own…this is not rocket science.

Re: jshum – It's a heterosexual (presumedly) men's magazine - why would he be in his underwear?

  47. 47

As a journalist, shouldn't she be keeping her opinions to herself. She should just be reporting, not commenting.

  48. 48

my 13 year old sister also loves kim kardashian…go yell at her as well. If your child is reading that magazine then i think you have a much bigger problem here. But thank you media for making such a big deal about this that these pictures are now ALL OVER the internet (much easier access for your children) good job!!

  49. 49

I am disappointed in the girls - I guess they needed some money because there is no reason in the world why a woman would be eager to appear like a piece of meat. Very disappointing. But then again, they are spoiled brats who have no idea what is going on in the real world.

  50. 50

The show itself sometimes goes over the line. Casual sex is not something parents want to promote. The singing and dancing is great, but it gives tweens the wrong idea about sex - I wouldn't want anyone younger than 16 watching this!

  51. 51

We are worried about risky photos of adults in an adult magazine? If your children "do" what they see in magazines, movies and television then you haven't done your job as a parent!

  52. 52

OMFG!!!! STFU already..who gives a rat's a$$ about the pictures?? I'm sure all these teenager's that people are so worried about being influenced have seen a lot more than a short skirt and cleavage!

  53. 53

Re: Lilygirl27 – yes but True Blood is played on HBO and rated 18+

  54. 54

What a joke!! If people were a little less uptight about sexuality, and showing skin, people would have less problems. Honestly what's wrong with seeing a little skin? It's natural right? Why try to censor everything? Especially something like this which isn't even that big of a deal.

  55. Megz3 says – reply to this

    55

Your the parent and if you don't want your kids seeing these pictures it is your responsibility as a parent that they don't see it. Lets get over it and move on already!

  56. 56

If you find these pictures to be to much you need to buy a vibrator because you are not getting good sex in your life. Yes Lea looks like a blow up doll but she is doing all that with her mouth not with her clothing. Dianna has more clothing on they Heather did playing Brittany on Glee. The show is not a kids show at all they are 20 year olds playing 16 year olds it is a joke. It is like the simpsons a show that appeals to children but not meant for them. That is why it is on when the little shits are supposed to be in bed.

  57. 57

not surprised that it was by terry the pervert that is always undermining women and perpetuating the objectification of females
