    Oh no…She shouldn´t "lower" herself to that kind of shows.

    I am not particularly a fan of Mariah. But she´s a major star. It is not a good role for big credible artists to sit there and "judge" someone else. It is not an image what people expect from them. Bad move in my opinion to be associated with that…

    Big stars are about singing,creativity and stuff.They are not about being judgmental of others.

    Her accent isn't really hard to understand, her voice is just annoying. Plus she's just not very likable. No one in the US gave a shit about Girls Aloud back in the day and they don't give a shit about her now.

    I like Mariah but for some reason I just cant imagine any format of X Factor without cheryl now. She really brings something to the show and I'm sure Americans will be able to understand her eventually, her accent isnt that strong, give them some credit. Ah well, i guess we'll see soon enough.

    GIVEN THE THE CHOICE OF 2 LIP SYNCERS, MIGHT AS WELL CHOOSE MOO MOO FAT-RIAH. SHE IS THE ORIGINAL LIP SYNCER AND HAS STATS TO BACK IT UP. HER CAREER IS BASICALLY OVER, HER RECORD SALES ARE PRETTY MUCH CRAP THESE DAYS AND SHE'S OVER 40. MAKES SENSE, WHEN UR MOVING FROM A-LISTER TO B-LISTER STATUS AS TIME GOES BY… LIKE WHO ELSE GONNA PAY FAT-RIAH $10 MIL + FOR JUDGING ANYTHING THESE DAYS ESP. A TALENT THAT SHE HAS TO LIP SYNC TO AND GET PRO-TOOLED FOR IN-STUDIO?? JUST SAYIN..

    Mariah should not be doing the show. She is still too big a star , even though her music and voice is not what it used to be. I have a feeling this show is going to fail and AI will be a success. They should have Cheryl or Paula. I don't want NS being a judge either.

    People couldnt understand Ant and Decs accents when they tried to do presenting in america so they will no way be able to understand cheryl. it would just be stupid to have her as a judge.

    I like her, not in love her, loved the 90s Mariah.. but for some reason i think she is above this. She actually has a talent and doesn't need to tutoring people who don't really have star quality. If you want to be famous, hussle.. don't use these show to be a quick way into the lime light.

    I see fox's point, but I think audiences would warm up to Cheryl. I've gotten kind of into X Factor, thanks in large part to Cheryl. I had no idea who she was at first, but I really like her, now. She and Cher Lloyd are the reasons I have watched this show, and I am NOT the type of person to watch X Factor-type shows (or reality shows of any kind). Personally, I don't think Mariah has the charisma necessary to make the show tolerable.

    There's just something about Cheryl- she's like a down-to-earth, tough, big sister type of person. She brings heart to the show. X Factor, imo, wouldn't be the same without her.

    The extra weight is something Mariah could lose easily before the X Factor comes to the US but Cheryl will never gain a good singing voice. In fact, people know Leona Lewis more here than Cheryl. Mention her name here and people will say "Who?" Simon is the only one pushing her to be a judge….if they want another Brit in the judges panel they should get one with name recognition like Rod Stewart or even Robbie Williams. With regards to American Idol, the are a number of bands or groups and people over 28 here who can't compete on AI. Face it, although we import talents from the UK, there are an abundance of untapped talents in the US and X Factor will be a hit here since the demographic of viewers will be expanded.

    Re: Cha_Cha_the famous – the orginal american idol was 'pop idol' which was in the uk, it was massive success than simon quit and brought in the x factor. what happened? x factor is the biggest talent show in the uk, and pop idol is no more. would you american people realy want watch american idol (which viewing figures have already declined) without simon and paula rather than the x factor with simon cowell,mariah carey,nicole whats her name, where the judges are mentors and their is no age limit and bands can compete

    Cheryl punched a older woman bathroom attendant ,sCheryl was convicted of calling her obscenities and assault too. Hardly the sweet girl she looks . Cheryl is a very hard woman ……a common thug. (the attendant happened to be black.)

    Can they even meet Mariah's diva demands?! I honestly have no interest in watching if Mariah is a judge. If Cheryl was on, I would at least try watching the show before making a decision.

    Cheryl's ego has grown so big that if this news is true it serves her right. Do you see how she's parading Simon on the Xfactor lately? Honestly it looks like they're sleeping together. And she favors Cher and Rebecca over her other acts! Poor Tracy is left out in the cold. Simon is doing the same with One Direction over Bell amie. They should be ashamed of themselves and hahahah I bet Nadine will laugh her ass off if she finds out Cheryl isn't getting the job of her dreams afterall. B/c you know Cheryl is just dying to break America.

    Re: April 20th – i do agree they r kinda the same but the contestants get put in categorys to be mentored by each judge so it puts the judges against each other too!!

    well im in the us and still like cheryl… and understand her… maybe its a good thing that no one here knows her, the uk xfactor seems to be the cheryl show… people just voting for her acts just to get her to win… i want her on us xfactor… her accent makes it funner to watch

    Hard to understand? Oh please! Just because it’s not a stereotypical London/Queen’s English ‘proper’ accent? She barely even has her South Shields (which is NOT Geordie by the way) accent anymore, they’d understand her no problem. Unless they’re deaf.

    Re: April 20th – Well firstly X Factor has far less limitations than Idol, ie no age limit and groups can enter. Also the acts are put into categories and each judge mentors one of these categories and they compete against each other to win- this is all part of the appeal as the judges frequently argue and are very protective of their acts. We had Pop Idol before Simon took it to America and X Factor has become much more successful so I assume the same will happen over there. Also…what is American Idol without Simon?
