RiRi Opens Up About Chris Brown

rihanna talks about getting beaten by chris brown over a year ago in marie claire

Somethings never really leave you, no matter how much time has passed.

Rihanna opened up to Marie Claire in their upcoming issue about a lot of topics, but one thing we didn't expect to hear about was Chris Brown. The wounds have healed, physically, but mentally, she's still dealing somewhat.

When asked about how she looks back on the beating she took at the hands of Brown, she admits that it's a painful memory, but one that might have been needed in her life. She explains:

"God has a crazy way of working, and sometimes when stuff happens you feel like, 'What did I do to deserve this?' Why was it backfiring on me?' But I needed that wake-up call in my life. I needed a turning point, and that's what God was giving to me."

Then, she admits that despite what he did to her, it wasn't easy to break up with Chris.

But when it was done, she knew it:

"I remember I was in New York at the Trump Hotel and I woke up and I just knew I was over it. It was a different day. I felt different. I didn't feel lonely," she recalls. "I felt like I wanted to get up and be in the world. That was a great, great feeling."

We're sure it was and we can't tell you how pleased we are with all you've managed to accomplish since then!

We're proud of you girl. Violence is never the answer, but moving past it certainly is. You can never dwell on the negatives for too long.

So God told Chris to beat the shit out of her? Honestly, Christians are so stupid.

I have this strange girl-to-girl attraction to her…..that dress is hot. I want it.

  3. 3

Let me get this straight - so God got Chris Brown to beat on Rhianna to give her a wake up call?? That's a kinda sick way of looking at it. Does that mean it wasn't Chris fault - God did it for Rhianna's own good? The more I hear people talk about God, the more I am glad to be an atheist.

  4. 4

hmmm…she's over it then why continue to talk about it. It's funny how the past two albums she uses her getting beat by chris brown as a way to garner publicity that's truly sickening. If your over it be over it don't back petal. Live in the present and talk about now!!

  5. 5

I don't think she realize how dumb this sounds b/c it implies that God wanted Chris Brown to beat her up so that she would get a wake up call. I really dislike it when ppl say they are not going to talk about it again and then talk about it again. The interviews, her album, the duet with eminem and now there is a part 2 just admit you want to discuss the issue and be a spokeswomen for the topic of abuse instead of ohhh I don't want to discuss it when in fact you have this whole time its just annoying. Chris Brown is a douchebag by the way so in no way am I defending him.

  6. 6

what she means is that if all this didnt happen and get out to the public, she may have never had the courage to leave him and end the cycle of abuse.

  7. 7

Keep moving on and being STYLISH…

  8. 8

It is so funny, people who believe in god will keep on believing no matter what happens to them.

  9. 9

how do you know rihanna has a new album coming out? cause she talks about Chris.
i wish the world move on from this…its been almost 2 years…hell i thought she had moved on. its to the point she needs to tell the magazines..no more. ask new questions.

Re: Crystal89 – Shut up groupie, she can talk as many times as she wants about her own experiences. People ask her stuff, she's entitled to answer.

  12. 12

blah, blah, god has a plan. What bullshit. There is no god, and the thought of a magic man in the sky pulling the puppet strings makes me laugh. At least it didn't take long for her to get back on the cock, over and over and over again. Nasty skank.

  13. 13

    aww lol

  14. 14

    Re: rosebud99Re: JuneGordon – rihanna's a retard - that's not by fault of Christians.

  15. 15

This post wasn't an open invitation to make an attempt at offending those who do believe in God. If you don't believe in God, fine, whatever, but slamming others for believing is pea brained, unnecessary an plain old rude.

  16. 16

Wow, I would like to recommend a very good place for you,There are so many fashion items you need and all the big brand you love on
Like: Louis Vuitton Chanel Gucci Burberry Chloe Hermes Prada Fendi etc.

  17. 17

A few weeks ago, I read a screen shot of an email that she supposedly sent to Chris. =/ Not sure where I read it at or if it was even legit, but she sounded insane.. IF that was her. Don't mean to come off as a bitch, but she probably provoked the situation. Yes, violence is not the way to handle it, but… I dunno. I feel bad for Chris though I'm not a fan of his music. (Haven't heard any of it…) She *does* seem to be milking her situation though. =/

  18. 18

Re: April 20th – Agreed. Insulting other people's belief systems is just plain arrogant.

  19. 19

Re: JuneGordon – Don't be rude.

  20. 20

Re: April 20th – I agree! Making fun of peoples religions is just as rude and arrogant as religious people condemning athiests to hell. People don't have to believe but they should have the maturity to respect others beliefs.

  21. 21

    Re: Crystal89
I don't know if you noticed, but Perez did state that she talked to the magazine Marie Claire. That means she was being interviewed and they obviously asked her questions about him. Sure she could have changed the subject or said nothing about it, but why should she, just because YOU are tired of her talking about it, which she hardly does.

  22. 22

    Such a full-of-shit bitch.

  23. 23

Re: April 20th – One of the worst things about organized religion is that it is so closed to questions and criticism. A religious person can talk about god all they like, but if an atheist talks about why they don't believe, they are offensive. Double standard.

  24. 24

Re: JuneGordon – correction: Rihanna is so stupid… don't get the two mixed up.

  25. jbopp says – reply to this

Re: Starflower11 – You saw some bogus screenshot of an email that she sent? Do you believe every piece of photoshop you see? I bet you think bigfoot is real too.

And the fact that you open your statement with acknowledgement of a supposed screenshot without giving a link for us shows you don't care whether it's true or not. You really just want to blame her for the whole thing. Which you do. You say violence isn't the answer 'but' you trail off, as if there are exceptions to the rule, which applied to Chris/Rhianna.

Did you see those pictures of her? At what point would you stop blaming a victim for an alleged, unsubstantiated provocation? She was beat to a pulp. Would she have to die before you would point a finger directly at Chris Brown and say "You are to blame and deserve your punishment".

Say what you want about milking her own tragedy, but to minimize what happened to her and blame her for provoking him is disgusting. I hope you never have kids.

  26. 26

It's so ridiculous how all these people merit God with EVERYTHING in their lives. If they win an awards, it was because of God. If their boyfriend beats the shit out've them, it's because of God. Morons.

  27. 27

hasnt the shelf life of this tired ass pop star expired yet?

  28. 28

It's amazing how some of the same ghetto groupies will continue to defend Chris Brown simply because they want to suck his dick. Sad!

  29. Jaded says – reply to this

Rihanna talking about Chris Brown while wearing a skanky outfit with her vajayjay practically showing… must mean she has a new album out.
If this girl had any talent she wouldn't have to resort to this for publicity.

  30. 30

That is a beautiful dress and I love her smile. Riri don't ever look in that rear view mirror just keeping going and never look back!

  31. 31

Re: rosebud99 – well, that's not me - i can tell you that. i don't give a shit if you believe or not, it's not affecting me.

  32. 32

Why is she STILL rehashing this? Mediawhore.

  33. 33

Shes still an ugly annoying little twit. A disloyal friend.. and an over all crappy person.

  34. 34

Re: hoochpit – LOL yeah, because clearly, you are smarter than the 80% percent of the world that believes in some sort of organized religion with some sort of deity.

Athiests are so fucking arrogant, it's ridiculous. Believe what you want, but comments like these are the ones that make me shake my head at your teenage emo asses.

  35. 35

Re: rosebud99 – No double standard, it's the way with which you word your beliefs. Saying "I don't believe in God" is fine. Saying "I don't believe in God, people who do are so retarded" is pretentious and stupid as fuck.

If you had an iota of common sense, you'd be able to see that, regardless of your belief system or lack thereof.

  36. 36

    You people are freaks…

I got what she was saying. I also can relate when you get an AHA! moment.

  37. 37

Re: JuneGordon – LMAO… I don't think it's Christians.. it's just naive girls like Rihanna…. that girl is fucking stupid.

  38. 38

Re: Velociraptor – Blah blah blah.. the cycle of abuse crap is bullshit.. she seems dumb to me.

  39. 39

Re: renkae – I believe in freedom of religion, but more often than not, I am expected to bow my head for grace, use 'god' in national anthems etc, and when someone says something like, 'it's god's will', and I respond with,'no it isn't, it's your will', I am being rude. When someone says 'the bible is the word of god', and I say, 'it was written by men', I am being rude. There is definitely a double standard.

  40. 40

So God is responsible? Give it a rest. How long are you going to milk this stupid incident "RiRi"? Until your music doesn't suck? It could be awhile then.

  41. 41

As shallow and simple as they come.Duh RiRi,you don't say.Lameass, airhead poser.

  42. 42

    Wow, u guys are harsh.
    1. See! Rihanna DOES believe in God and is not an atheist.
    2. Marie Claire asked her about it and she answered in a way that was not bitter but actually very self-aware.
She's saying that out of a bad situation came something great. She channeled that energy into her album and made her most personal and deep album yet that was critically acclaimed and showed that she was deeper and more artistic than your average pop stars like Jessica Simpson, Britney, and Katy Perry who's records lacked depth.

Rihanna is amazing and why would you people fault her for being grateful that something great came out of her heartache. She's happy, has a new man and a new outlook on life…BTW, how is she using this to garner sympathy to push album sales? Honestly, I am so OVER hearing about CB and his retarded fans disillusionment at the situation. Rihanna is and always will be a bigger star…It is he who is STILL using the ordeal to get publicity…Rihanna is obviously SOOOO over all that. Chris Brown should have realized that Rihanna belongs to the world and the international music industry loves Rihanna. She's the biggest star of the last five years in terms of international chart success, even bigger than Madonna, Beyonce and Britney in some respects.

  43. 43

Re: goodtasteishardtofind – well first off rihanna wasnt the bigger star before all this.
second of all…no chris isnt using the situation..maybe in the beginning..but not anymore. you never hear him talk about it, he never brings it up. hes gone back to doing all the things he was doing before this happen..ie..making music, doing shows, and doing chairity work.
and i say that as a 50/50 fan of both of them

  44. 44

Oh honey, the whole Chris Brown drama didn't help you much with "Rated R", why would you be this stupid and think it will boost your "Loud" sales? I suggest you should start talking about Matt Kemp or some other lame wannabe you've humped recently

  45. 45

Some of you people are idiots. Of course when you have an album out, you do promotion. That's your JOB. Of course the people interviewing are going to bring up Chris Brown. They want their magazine to sell, too; that's their job.
How in the hell is she using Chris Brown to further her career? She didn't even mention him by name; that's like not acknowledging he even exists. She's mostly talking about how she's grown up and learned to get past him and the whole ordeal. Obviously she's over him.
And to the emo chick who thinks "Rated R" didn't do too well: it went gold and/or platinum in dozens of countries and produced three international top ten hits, including a #1 single, and her current single is in the top ten as we speak. So you're right. Chris Brown didn't help her much.

  46. 46

Its funny how she always knows how to talk about the Chris Brown assault when she has an album to push

I don't see anyone on here trashing atheism so how about all of the atheists stop fucking trashing other peoples personal beliefs.

  47. 47

    Re: Jaded
Vajayjay practically showing? Skanky outfit? Really…get your mind out of the gutter!

  48. 48

Rihanna is faker than Pamela Anderson's tits. Yeah, I said it.

  49. 49

    Re: MJJ

The only douchebag is that bitch. Chris should stay away from crazy bitches. If he had a long ass record like Charlie Sheen, I wouldn't question anything.
