Kid Rock Is Disappointed

kid rock thinks steven tyler is stupid for being on american idol

We were all surprised when Aerosmith's Steven Tyler decided to be a judge on American Idol…but no one was as tough on Steven as his pal Kid Rock!

Kid doesn't hold anything back, as he said, "I think it is the stupidest thing he's ever done in his life. He's a sacred American institution of rock and roll, and he just threw it all out the window — just stomped on it and set it on fire."

Jeez, that is a little harsh. He continued on to say that whoever advised him "we should bring back to the guillotine."

He finished the rant off by stating, "and if it was himself, he needs some serious counseling. I love him to death, but I gotta speak the truth."

LOL! Someone is angry!

What do U think of Steven Tyler being a judge on American Idol???

    HE IS RIGHT!!!! SELL OUT!!!!!!!!

  3. 3

give him a break…steve must be in his 70s now - he should be able to do whatever he wants. he can only stick his tongue out and wiggle his bum for so long.

  4. 4

Translation: Kid Rosk is pissed no one offered him the job.

  5. 5

I usually don't agree with Kid Rock but this… I actually agree with.
Sure it's a job ect ect but the whole thing just seems wrong.

    Kid Rock is right ,actually.
I agree. It´s a very stupid thing to be on that show and being associated with it at all.

I don´t think Kid was "angry" (as you call it). He just thinks that Tyler should know better. Strange that Steven Tyler doesn´t realize all that himself.

  7. 7

Steve T sing yeah, could care less what his bloated ego thinks about teenagers. Give me a druken Paula and a rude Simon and a snarky perez any day.

  8. 8

The Kid is 100% spot on

  9. 9

I think he's right, no self-respecting rock god would be a judge on a dumbass show that spawns bad, cookie-cutter pop stars. Rock speaks truth.

  10. 10

Sounds like the big sissy is jealous

  11. 11

who cares? it's steven tyler… steven tyler. you are people reading a blog online.
he has put out many great records and done much more for a looooooong time
    he's 72 .
he knows music extremely well and is in a better position than anyone to give advice to these aspriring artists.

    shut up, seriously lol

  12. 12

Totally agree with Kid Rock..Steven Tyler is such a sellout!

  13. 13

Many people here don't understand how "sold out" American Idol is to real rockers. Good for Kid Rock for speaking his mind and saying what a lot of us also think.

  15. 15

steven can do what he wants, but i think it's fair for many fans of rock legends to see one of the greats judge that dopey karaoke contest.
would sir paul do it? no
would robert plant do it. no
would roger waters do it? no
    would bruce do it? no
    would mick do it? no
    would david do it? no
i think robbie is hoping steven would have more self respect.

  16. 16

aerosmith haven't done anything great since the 70's !

  17. 17

He's 62 and can do whatever he pleases. What's Kid going to do/be in 20 years??

  18. 18

As much as I hate to say these words, I agree with Kid Rock.

  19. 19

American Idol is gay its been for years!! I can't believe this show is still on and still has such a huge following.. kind of crazy to me these kids are so talentless it's not even funny.. Stupid for paying such high salaries for these celebs to be judges when their hasbeens. give me a break .

  20. 20

AHHHH YALL STFU!! TYLER IS ONLY 62 AND HAS DONE EVERYTHING IN ROCK AND ROLL INCLUDING BEING INDUCTED IN RRHOF. SO WHAT IF HE SITS HIS SKINNY ASS DOWN ON SOME LAME ASS TV SHOW WHILST MAKING $8-10 MIL +??? BELIEVE ME IF KID ASS WAS OFFERED THE SAME DEAL HE WOULDA TAKE IT ASAP. WHAT'S KID ASS DOING THESE DAYS? EXACTLY… NOTHING LIKE HIS CAREER.

  21. 21

Re: 4skin nv – yes they have… they had their first number 1 hit with Don't miss a thing.. its your opinion but i think the 90s had some great Aerosmiths song, so therefore they are kinda a rock God in my book.

  22. 22

Steven Tyler has *real* talent and has diminished this talent by hoin' himself out for a low-quality extension of his well-earned fame

It's Jennifer Lopez who *DOES* belong on American Idol - it's something she's familiar with - karaoke

  23. 23

I agree with Kid Rock. Steven Tyler has done THE SAME THING Barbara Walters did when she decided to appear in that show THE VIEW with all those Z-listers. There she was, a well-known reporter who rubbed elbows with world leaders, minimizing her effort by appearing in an idiot daily morning gossip show.

    24

Kid is probably jealous he wasn't asked. Steven will be an interesting judge because he would add a different slant to the show in judging talent, not just based on looks and being cookie cutter pop.

  25. 25

Kid Rock needs to chill the freak out. Steven Tyler has earned the right to do whatever the eff he wants to do. At 62, maybe he doesn't feel like busting his @$$ on tour every day of the year. More power to him. I think it'll be interesting to hear what he has to say. I don't think Jennifer Lopez has 1/100000th his talent, but I actually did think she was one of the better mentors that they've had, so maybe she'll be good. Whatever the case, I'm hoping both new judges have something more to offer than telling the contestants that they need to "connect to the song." That was about the only advice given last season to the point that I thought my head might explode.

  26. 26

KR may have a bit of a point, but judging AI is probably better than fighting with Tommy Lee, or beating up some guy at a pancake house.

  27. 27

He doesn't come off as being angry at all, but you have a personal vendetta against him, so of course you would see it that way. You failed to mention that someone actually asked him a question in regards to this and that's the only reason he was talking about it. Pretty much everyone involved in the rock part of the music industry feels the same way he does.

  28. 28

How and when did it become anyones business as to what a grown adult decides to do with his or her life? It's an easy 10 or more million dollars he can earn. How is he a sellout for wanting to earn all the major duckets he can? He is in his 60's.. Maybe it's something he wants to do before he gets to old.. Live and let live. he is not killing anyone. He is not molesting kids.. he is simply judging kids on something he has been doing for decades. I think the best thing about this is that a rock legend will be able to impart true wisdom on youngsters who want what he has.. Not even Simon can share that with hopefuls..

  29. 29

Kid Rock is right. Completely right. He was sacred and now he made himself zero.

  30. 30

Team Kid Rock. Now, when is he going to call out KISS for those lame Dr. Pepper ads?

  31. 31

    Kid is right.

    32

Tyler has seen and done it all. He's at an age where he probably doesn't give a crap about his *image.* (It's in stone anyway). Variety's the spice of life, and perhaps Tyler felt like recreating and do something new; like try a regular t.v. gig, and perhaps mentor young artists. New can invigorate. Tommy Lee did his college show and Rockstar even though Crue and Lee are legend and pack arenas every tour. Shrugs. Didn't Idol ask Kid to do it?

  33. 33

Re: @v@ – I love me some Steven Tyler … I will watch Idol this year ONLY because he is on it!

  34. @v@ says – reply to this

    34

Oh, and the money's really, REALLY epic. Tyler's close to retirement age.

  35. 35

hahahaha Kid Rock calls someone else a sellout ? LMAO !!!!

  36. Dxxx says – reply to this

    36

Re: stickrat – I can't imagine whose bad advice Tyler is following, probably somebody that gets a percentage. Tyler/Aerosmith has always been listed among the greats–it was an institution and he just moved their peg down in terms of respect. It would be different if he were filling a seat that David Bowie vacated but he's not!!! We are talking about Steven Tyler of the preeminent band Aerosmith…not REO Speedwagon, Yes or even The Cars. If Tyler never did another thing during his career he would have went down as one of the greats, but this is like Pacino doing a Miley Cyrus movie.

  37. 37

Steven Tyler is the moment when AI has jumped the shark!!

  38. Tinc says – reply to this

    38

Kid Rock is 100% right!Stupid move,Steven!I pedict that AI will not be on for much longer.

  39. 39

He's dead right. A rock and roll legend has no place near a karaoke contest.

  40. 40

This is the 2010 Kid Rock… for some reason we hear more about Taylor than you. He enjoys doing different thing, you Kiddie are always in the same shell. Bleh

  41. 41

Who gives a flying F*ck. Two sellouts calling each other out about selling the sellout out. I wish I could stick a dick down Kid Rocks throat, have it come out of his ass, and into Steven Tyler's dick hole.

  42. 42

He's right. American Idol is a JOKE!

  43. 43

Sure maybe a sellout but the difference is Kid Rock is already dead as far as entertaining goes… Steve Tyler is what 60? older? and he recently had a serious accident on a tour which makes him unble to perform live too often anymore… The man has a total right to opt for a nice pay cheque offered to him to do a job that is easier we all do… Who cares what that trashy loser thinks of Steve Tyler… Also as has been stated already byt a few posts, that douche bag would've jumped on this if it was offered but the difference is he wasn't offered cause he sucks!

  44. @v@ says – reply to this

    44

Aerosmith had already signed their first record contract, were touring, and had known each other for two years before Kid Rock was even born, lol. If Kid Rock gets to 23 years older than he is today, and someone puts a huge cash offer like this in front of his 62 year old face… if he doesn't think about his kids future before saying no, then he's a selfish pr*ck.

  45. @v@ says – reply to this

    45

Re: Kelbo1 – Tyler will spice things up. He might even detour to buy some donuts just to be nice as he is wont to do when he's touring from town to town. I liked that.

  46. @v@ says – reply to this

    46

Re: Kelbo1 – Actually, I think it was cupcakes.

  47. 47

much newfound respect for Kid Rock

  48. @v@ says – reply to this

    48

Re: squinkylou – What, because fighting in the wee hours in a pancake house is so much nobler than being offered millions to do a little detour doing a t.v. talent show? Lol.

  49. @v@ says – reply to this

    49

Besides, he can't be serious. His name is still 'Kid' Rock, ffsakes.
And I like his work, otherwise.
