Tension Between Due Date Co-Stars Over Mel Drama

| Filed under: Film FlickersMel GibsonRobert Downey Jr.

due date co stars are tense over mel gibson drama

Robert Downey Jr. is NOT happy with his Due Date co-star Zach Galifianakis for his involvement in getting Mel fired from Hangover 2.

According to Downey Jr., Mel taught him about second chances and cast him in The Singing Detective, after he got out of jail.

In an effort to repay the favor, Downey was influential in getting Mel the cameo in Hangover 2, and it became pretty tense between the Due Date stars after Mel lost the role.

Sources say that Downey felt Mel deserved another chance, and that he's "pissy" with Galifianakis for his big part in getting Mel fired.

We're certainly happy that Mel was able to help bring about Robert Downey Jr.'s resurgence, especially since he's done a lot of great stuff lately, but we still have to veer closer to Galifianakis' side on this one.

Who do U side with? Robert Downey Jr. or Zach Galifianakis?

The difference between Mel and Robert is that Rob had an addiction and Mel is just a horrible person!

  2. 2

    I'm on Downey's side, absolutely!

  3. 3

I'm with ZG all the way on this one. Surprised at RD Jr. But then, I'm surprised at Whoopi and Jodie as well; idiots that I used to admire!

  4. 4

    Downey.

  5. 5

I am down with Downey. Mike Tyson is a convicted rapist and he got a second chance on the Hangover. No one knows what really went on between Gibson & his GF…anyone can be pushed to the point of no return…anyone! Who is ZG to judge another human being? Is he perfect? Highly doubtful!

  6. 6

I am siding with Mel and Robert on this one. Zac is an ass and he has no talent. The Hangout was not even that funny and it sure as hell wasnt for this fatso. I will skip this Due Date movie b/c of this Zac ass and support Robert on his other work. Robert should beat his fat ass for this.

  7. 7

im on zachs side! 1. mel gibson is a complete moron and doesnt deserve a second chance! i mean cmon he did a little bit more then go to jail for drugs or any thing else! lndsay lohan deserves a second chance before him!!
2.the cast of the hangovers careers are on the line with this movie too!! would you want anything to take away from your movie?? i highly doubt it….robert downey has to realize that cast is just building their big names in hollywood while he already has one. i personally wouldnt take that chance either.
    3. who would want to work with a man who probably offended them on so many levels? that would be an awkward set!

  8. 8

I am not a Mel fan, but RDJ owes Mel big. I think if I were Mel I would expect him to use his influence in this.

  9. 9

mr galifawhatever is the current loveable goofball in hollywood. his flame will burn out soon. he will be begging for parts. i really am torn whether gibson should be given another chance. he seems to have some very bad stuff going on inside. not just this with the girlfriend but the dui arrest, etc. however, who does this guy galifawhatever think he is? he's not an established star. he's a party joke at best. he plays the same part basically every time. he had no problem 'acting' with a convicted rapist and wife abuser in the last hangover movie.

  10. 10

Robert Downey Jr deserved and got a second chance because he quit drugs and cleaned up his act. Mel Gibson is still a racist, anti-semetic, abusive, drunk asshole.

  11. 11

Hollywood hates Mel because of "The Passion of the Christ", and the believe his conservative. They've been looking for a way to get him. And he does have addictions-alcohol and cigarettes. Mel hasn't been convicted of anything-unlike Charlie Sheen-why isn't Hollywood coming down on him? Perez you are a hypocrite as always.

  12. 12

I have to go with Robert Downey. Zach just ruined someone's second chance by being so judgmental.

  13. 13

    robert downey jr, of course.
zach is a nobody who shouldn't have that much clout. he's just boot licking those hollywood jews.

  14. 14

Team Robert Downey Jr., but I love Zach Galifianakis!

  15. 15

    I'm down with Downey!

The difference between Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr. is that they are two different men. EVERYONE has their glass house. If gay men and women, jews, and women, don't want to be judged for who they are then the same justice should be given to Mel Gibson.

  17. 17

Zach rules. Mel is a misogynist woman beater and racist. A very dangerous sick man.

  18. 18

I adore Robert Downey, always have, and I'm so glad to see he got his act together. I also believe in second chances, but those should come AFTER you've done the hard work of bettering yourself. In Mel's case, he's not only in the middle of being a self loathing asshole, he's repeating the behaviour which means he's nowhere NEAR having done any work what so ever. A movie role isn't what Mel needs. Therapy and a good slap in the face is what he needs, and when he's done the hard work of becoming a better man.. THEN and only then, can we talk about second chanses.

  19. 19

I am in Downey's side.. Mel has an addiction too.. and he has an anger problem. Mel is honestly a good man. He even helped Britney Spears. I don't think he is a racist either. White people say the N word in the comfort of their home all the time..

  20. 20

I think RDJ is right in showing his loyalty, and he's obviously close enough to Mel to be more motivated to forgive his behavior. Zach and the rest of us don't know more of Mel beyond that terrible stuff we've witnessed, so it makes sense he wouldn't want to associate with Mel. So, I'm on the fence really. The only thing I personally have a problem with is the hypocrisy of having Mike Tyson-a convicted rapist-make a cameo in THE HANGOVER (pt 1), yet NOT allowing Mel - who hasn't been convicted of anything yet re: Oxana - to make an appearance in Pt. 2. I don't think that's right. Either open your arms to both or to neither.

  21. 21

Keep in mind that RDJ actually KNOWS Mel Gibson and we don't. We only know what we read and hear about Mel and the media goes for the sensationalized stories. I think that RDJ has every reason to be pissed at Zach because that shows that RDJ is a loyal friend. Now that RDJ is a reputable star again, I can see him using his influence to help Mel, just as Mel helped him when he was at a low point in his life and career.

    22

I am with RD jr on this one. Mel is not a horrible person, he has demons just like many in Hollywood and was being manipulated by a skank, who dropped a baby and then just wanted $$$$$$$$$$$$

    23

Robert Downey Jr. is a hypocrite!!! I ask you, will he put Mel Gibson in his next Iron Man movie, The Avergers, or Sherlock Holmes 2? The answer would be a big no, because if he did, the movies and box office would be hit with a major backlash from the public and media. Of course, he has no problems with risking someone else's movie career and film franchise to save Mel. If you don't have the courage of your own convictions, just shut-up and mind your own business. Mel, not only beat and threatened a woman, but he abused both of his his ex-girlfriend's children!!! Shame on him, and anyone who would back him!!!! Zach Galifianakis should dare Robert Downey Jr. to cast Mel in the 3 films that I mentioned!!!

  24. 24

Where you can go along with world trends on ~~(Mygoodbag)~~~.There are so many fashion items you need and all the big brand you love.

Like: Louis Vuitton Chanel Gucci Burberry Chloe Hermes Prada Fendi etc.

  25. 25

mel saved his life.folk are just too young to remember. you would expect someone to go to bat to repay you for the career favor just like jody foster never forgot what mel has done for her over the decades.
zach is just popular with the public for a couple of roles.
people will forget him on purpose since they can see his ego and inapproprieate behavior on a daily basis, like acting strange,is ruled by his immature jealousy despite his good amount of talent.he is a jealous weirdo, and mel will be forgiven just on the basis of God's love

  26. 26

Who is this Zach nobody? I didn't see Hangover so I don't know who he is nor his other movies….Is he the new Hollywood power player now? I thought that was John Goodman beside Robert in the picture.

  27. 27

Cast Mel in Schiendler's List 2 and see how that goes over

  28. 28

    RDJ!

  29. 29

Everyone needs to realize Robert knows Mel Gibson personally and probably knows more of the personal things Mel is going through. I have difficulties believing that Mel hates Jews, because Robert was born Jewish and still is Jewish. He married Susan Levin and she is Jewish. So, Mel doesn't hate all Jews like tabloids keep saying he does or Robert and he wouldn't be so close.
Zach G. is a hypocrite. He doesn't mind working with Tyson, who is a convicted rapist, ear eater (Evander Holifield) and a wife beater. Tyson is an aggressive monster. Yet, that doesn't bother Zach? Zach also uses Jewish people as jokes in most of his stand up shows and he made negative comments about Jews working for him at Showwest this year. So, he is a racist as well. Zach's boat will sail soon - he is a second rate comedian who does the same routine over and over again. Right now he just thinks he is someone. He is noone. I side with Robert and respect what he stands for, for helping his friend try to overcome things. He is a great person and obviously forgives Mel for the Jew comments because Mel was under the influence at the time. It is obvious Robert is a very loving and caring person, because while drunk Mel slammed him as well by him being Jewish.

Robert all the way! It's called Karma Zach, I hope you NEVER need a second chance. Robert is a true friend. True friends dont turn thei backs on you when everyone else does the popular thing. Robert Downey Jr. and Jodi Foster stand up people. Zach your 15min are ticking away loudly!

  32. 32

The only ones that even give a **** about this whole Gibson thing are in Hollywood and New York. Alot of Country and people inbetween. Gibson may be an ass but all he did was run off at the mouth.

  33. 33

Of course you're on Zach's side of this Perez. It's like you've neeevvverrr have called someone a hurtful mean spirited name in the heat of the moment like Mel. No, you just do it (like call Miley Cyrus slutty) as a way to promote your website and to be a prick. After all it's not like Mel ever raped anyone like Mike Tyson did. Oh yeah, Tyson was in the first movie.

  34. 34

Good for RDJ, Whoopi, and Jodi. These are people who know Mel well. They are willing to stand up for their friend no matter what. I'm sure they know the truth of what went down, and soon so will we.

  35. 35

we all need second chances folks, it what makes the world a better place! we need to forgive and progress.

  36. 36

Re: Chinwe Okorie Ŧ – Uhm…sorry to break it to you but if you are casually dropping around the N word in the privacy of your home, you are a racist. J/S

  37. 37

I'm all for second chances but it's still too soon to force Gibson on us.

  38. 38

WHile I don't like Mel, RDJ is GOD! (the only exception being he wasn't naked in Iron man 2) Whatever he says is just fine with me!

  39. 39

I side with Robert Downey.. Zach is a fat jew load….

  40. 40

I'm with Downey on this one. Everyone deserves a second chance. Besides, who the hell is Galifianakis? What has he done except act like an idiot and a slob every time he appears on screen (what a stretch that must be).

I'm glad Downey is such a stand-up guy. Kudos to him and his success.

  41. 41

Re: karumba – Who isn't a racist, antisemitic, or abusive or drunk or an asshole…

I personally hate Israel.. and am disgusted I have to work in a sweat shop to give my taxes to women and children killers…

  42. 42

Israel is anti-american.. Zach is a fat anti-american LOAD OF CUN

  43. 43

Robert Downey is a class act. When he had his problems NO ONE WOULD HIRE HIM BUT MEL GIBSON. ZAC the asshole should take a lesson. jerk

  44. 44

Don't forget to add to Tyson's misdeeds the fact that he has admitted to mugging old ladies and stealing their money as a youth.

  45. Zip says – reply to this

    45

Getting second chances is fine, but Mel has had second, third, and fourth chances, and keeps messing-up, while maintaining that he is a good guy. However, somebody like Charlie Sheen is different. Charlie is a pig, and is quite open about it–he doesn't pretend to be anything less, or more, than what he is, whether onscreen, or off, he is a pig onscreen, and in his private life he is a pig. Even his hit TV series is clearly based upon his real life, therefore he can't be hurt by scandal. However, Mel, plays Mr. Good Guy, onscreen, and in his personal life, and both are a lie. Mel should just come out and say, "I am a flawed person. I made mistakes…and I am guilty of everything I have been accused of. My ex is right, everythng she has said is accurate. I'm sorry, but what happened, happened, and all I can do is pay for it." He should plead guilty, and do his time in jail, and start living his life out loud like the pig that he is. He should play wierdos and villains onscreen, much like Charlie Sheen, and in his personal life, he should openly be the womanizing misogynist pig that he is, and women love him to be, without apology.

    46

I like the fact that Zach Galifianakis has stood-up and risked his career to take a social stand, while Robert has risked nothing!!!

  47. 47

Gotta go with RDJ on this. Live long enough and you will really screw up at times. Hopefully, someone will be kind enough to help pull you through your stupidity to become a better person. Zach may not have reached his low point, he'll remember this when he does.

  48. 48

DOWNEY YOU ARE NO MEL.ALSO CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY THE MOVIE GETS MADE,BECAUSE _ABSOLUTLY NO ONE I KNOW WILL EVER WATCH ANYTHING MEL IS IN….THAT,S THE REALITY CHECK YOU HOLLYWEIRDOS NEED…….

  49. 49

I am for everyone getting second chances once they have done the work. Mel has not even aknowledged much less apologized for his behavior. Nor has he done any work for the drinking problems that has been raging for years. The different is that Robert worked on himself and as did the many other stars that we have given a second chance too. Anyone who sticks up for a man who speaks so horrible on more than one occassion to a women should be ashamed. No human deserves to be treated this way.

  50. 50

Re: karumba – ahhaha i am not white.. the last line was playing on that people assume if they don't see the N word in public then they aren't racist.. so basically, majority of people shouldn't judge him.

  51. 51

What? They have friends in Hollywood? I didn't think the first Hangover was great at all. But with a RDJ touch it will be watchable. I can not stand Mel but Mel didn't come to my rescue. I guess when someone like him does that you can look past their shittiness.

  52. 52

Robert Downey can put him in the next Iron Man! Mel is a distraction and to blame his foibles on Zack is ridiculous.

  53. 53

who cares about zach - he is too fat and ugly and probably stinks too. would love to know about how many charity he has done - go check out mel's resume - they don't even compare. Mel has donated millions and millions of dollars to hospital for sick children and he has supported AIDS, cancer, children, conservation, disaster relief, environement, health, poverty and education - and he as been doing it for years. what has zach done??? why are people focusing on one stupid fight that he had with oksana - which has been completely exaggerated, twisted and is full of lies. people have said hateful things all the time - stop judging.

  54. 54

Re: Chinwe Okorie Ŧ – that usually means that they are racist. you can't possibly be this naive.

  55. 55

Re: Chinwe Okorie Ŧ – that may have been what you meant…it certainly wasn't what you typed.

  56. 56

Re: maggiegirl – if you don't know how many charities Galifinakis is involved with, how do you know they don't compare to Gibson? The statement is just so silly.

  57. lps says – reply to this

    57

100 percent with Downey. Gibson has serious issues but he has been a giant in the industry and has a history of reaching out to those in trouble: Downey, Spears, etc. Galifianakis is odd and funny but he is not even on the same playing field as the actors/filmmakers Gibson and Downey.

  58. 58

I do think Mel deserves another chance. Technically he got a 2nd chance after his drunk arrest/anti-semitic remarks, so after this incident, it will be a 3rd chance. However, I think it is too soon to give him another chance. He needs to take time to work on his issues.

  59. lps says – reply to this

    59

Oksana drama, drunk racist tirades… Gibson needs help. But doesn't it strike you as odd that many of those in the industry judging Mel gave child rapist Roman Polanski a standing ovation at the oscars a few years ago?

  60. 60

i'm on zac's side because mel already got a second chance and he fucked it up, so.

  61. 61

i am on team mel. every star in la has problems, and almost every time those problems go public. but i am sure the oksana thing was provoked (not an excuse)
and that we have heard or read only one side of the story…. Downey ROCKS !!!!!!!

  62. 62

Robert is right…Zach is a jerk!!!!

  63. 63

Downey should BUST Zack in his eye for trying to be a diva-hypocrit! Shame on ANYONE who participated in this modern day "McCarthyism" black-balling a man who hasn't been convicted of ANYTHING! All he did (from EVERYTHING) we have seen/heard is maybe yell at his girlfriend. She has spent more time tampering with and manipulating her "evidence" than she has spent time with her (Golden ticket) child! SHAME on her too.
Don't drink the Kool-Aid people, open your eyes, and research this Oksana woman, her past speaks louder than she face! She did this same stuff to Timothy Dalton, The child she has with him is 12 years old, Mel was her last chance to score big, (she is 40 years old) she knew what she was doin, that coy, poor immigrant shit isn't working on the public. And Zack your a dousche!

  64. 64

Re: Jaye1980 – I already checked both mel and zach about their involvment with charities - and as far as I see - zach hasn't done anything. he may have done it privately or they simply haven't listed it on his resume but the point is - why is everyone bashing mel and only looking at the negative thing he supposedly done. i don't think that's fair. this whole oksana/mel drama has been inconsistent since the beginning and lot of it doesn't make any sense - there are too many holes in oksana story - I wish people stop believing her and open their eyes and ears. she is full of sh*t. we only heard her side of the story - we have yet to hear his side - so stop judging.

  65. 65

  66. 66

I'm with Downey on this one. How many of you have ever dealt with an alcoholic? You don't understand…it is hell. Alcohol is a poison, not a truth serum. My best friend is an alcoholic…without the alcohol, he is one of the best people known to man. If he falls off the wagon, he is horrrible, a jerk…but that is not his heart. Booze does horrible things to susceptible people, and yet so many are willing to be Team Oksana, despite her blatant lies and generally being uncooperative with law enforcement. I have doubts about her and her stories. There is no excuse for the verbal abuse, but as for the physical, I am wondering if her computer holds the key to it all. Mel Gibson suffers from a horrible disease, plain and simple. I would give him a chance well over a covicted rapist, even though I like Mike Tyson. Those who can't understand that need a reality check…sorry, but it is true. Get over yourselves and leave Gibson alone. As for Galifanakis, his SNL hosting gig blew and I don't forsee him going far with his career, so he and his ego can just go check themselves before he goes the way of Belushi or Farley. He has his own issues, I think, so why not leave the judgment up to God. Kthxbye.

  67. 67

Mel is NOT a horrible person. He was drunk and secretly taped when he said those things. How much better would 90% of Americans do if their phones or homes were wiretapped????

  68. TCYB says – reply to this

    68

A second chance….depends. 3rd and 4th, NO. Good bye Mel.

  69. 69

There's nothing wrong with Mel getting a 2nd chance AFTER he's PAST his troubles and is ready. He's still in the midst of everything! Robert Downey Jr spent lots of time in rehab and lots of time out of the spotlight getting better and was ready when got his 2nd chance. Mel hasn't done Any obvious personal work towards getting through his crazy stuff to be afforded that. Of course he will be offered work again once the dust has settled, he's a good actor and has many friends despite his crazy.

  70. 70

Hollywood is always willing to forgive a drug addict that gets clean (ie Downey), they seem to be a little less forgiving of people that abuse women these days because it is the politically correct thing to do. Chris Brown is still dealing the repercussions from his little episode with Rihanna and the same thing is happening with Mel. No matter what, no one should say the sorts of things that he said to Oksana, he could have said ANYTHING else, but he choose those words.

A drug addict has a serious problem that can be solved. Mel Gibson has a personality defect that may not be able to be fixed. That is the difference.

  71. 71

Team Robert Downey Junior all the way!!! I do have one comment for those people who have stated that Mel has already had his 2nd chance….you are all a bunch of stupid self righteous idiots!! Do you have the magic cure for substance abuse and addiction??? If you do-please share! You should call Dr. Drew and share your knowledge…it would be very helpful to many who suffer from this degenerative disease. Mel is a gifted actor/director and most definitely deserves to work in Hollywood. Mel has already apologized and the only other people that require any explanations for his behavior in his personal life are his family and his dear friends. That's it. I hope Mel gets back to work soon producing and directing award winning blockbusters! Contrary to the beliefs of the judgemental Hollywood snobs like Perez Hilton and fat boy Zach, Mel's movies will generate ticket sales big time! Go for it Mel-the majority of the working class stiffs like me will support you!

  72. 72

There's nothing, aside from this website, that has claimed Zach G had anything to do with Mel's firing. I highly doubt it's true. Fu**k all of them.

  73. 73

How many second chances does Mel get? He has said horrible things about everything non-white catholic/christians for years.

  74. 74

Well considering this is Zach's movie (as in he was a huge part of the success of the first one), it's his call. RDJ is lucky to be involved and should keep his mouth shut. I'd be more likely to forgive Mel if this were his first offense. Police woman rant, anyone?

  75. 75

OMG! It just occurred to me that ZG is like the new McCarthy, only in this case it is the jewish person blacklisting another actor for his beliefs. May I state this just ONE more time? Mel Gibson is an actor. We pay to see him act (or direct) we DO NOT pay to see him be politically correct. What if he was a ditch digger who held such chauvanistic beliefs? Would he be fired or blacklisted for it? HELL NO!! HELL NO!! So, why Mel? Go to see his movies, or don't. Who cares which choice you make? I don't. But I would have enjoyed seeing Mel do some comedy. Hate is hate. Holding a grudge is childish and simplistic. You listening, ZG?

  76. 76

There's rehab for drug addiction, not sure Mel can be cured of racism, anti-semitism, and misogyny!

  77. 77

OOPS! Sounds like Zac forgot to take the no-bullying pledge. Guess he's not perfect, either?!

Zach has my vote. 100% I love RD but he didn't get his comeback immediately and he had an addiction. Mel is just a big ol douchebag!

  79. 79

I am EASILY on Downey's side.
Who are we to judge what a drunken guy says?
Last I checked, we are all with faults.
My scoreboard for Mel: Drunken stupidy with a cop, and fighting with his bitchy lying wife…
He deserves at least a 2nd (3rd) chance.

  80. 80

Team Robert Downey Jr [holds up shirt to prove it]. Everyone's at least a little racist.

    81

Galifianakis is a pompous ass. His lighting up a joint on Bill Maher's show was totally inappropriate.

  82. 82

Considering we don't even know what exactly Mel's current situation is, I'd have to side with RDJ. Right now it's just Oksana's words against Mel's silence. Just let the process work itself out to reveal the facts and then form your opinions. Zach kind of jumped the gun on that and it's unfortunate. You would hope someone his age wouldn't be so impressionable and take everything he reads on Perez Hilton as fact.

  83. 83

Problem is that Robert was hurting himself and Mel is hurting and alienating everyone around him. Big difference! I don't want to see Mel on the big screen or the little screen.

  84. 84

I'm on RDJ's side here. Zach Galifianakis didn't want Mel Gibson, who hasn't been charged of ANY crime, involved in this film yet he didn't the ear-biting, mind convicted rapist Mike Tyson having in the first hangover.

  85. 85

Re: New Jersey Dude – You can only give so many chances…i think we are actually up to 5. It is different when it is your family or friend. He is a public figure. I very vocal public figure.

  86. 86

I love Robert D.jr. but this is kinda none of his business. Of course we all gave Robert a ton of chances and are happy to see him doing so well. The guy is extremely talented and he really only hurt himself during his addiction downfall. But Mel did not only say and do terrible hurtful things to his Baby mama but he has yet to apologize to her. Mel's business is none of mine, but the way he has been acting (like he is untouchable) he could hurt the movie. I think that is the real problem with the cast. And maybe Mel's large ego could use a smack in the face. Women don't like it when you demean your girlfriend, and the racist crap. Enough is enough

  87. 87

    downey

  88. 88

I think they both had their reasons. Downey definitely owes Mel, and since he himself has received a second chance, it's natural that he feels that people deserve second chances. Under normal circumstances, someone should deserve a second chance. Downey is simply acting according to his consciousness.

At the same time, I feel like Zach is valid in expressing his unwillingness to work with Mel. I don't know if he's completely responsible for having Mel fired from the set, but he's allowed to let the producer know that he's not comfortable working with Mel in a movie.

I also feel like this wouldn't be a second chance for Mel, it'd be third or fourth chance. He's already pissed off the public for his anti-Semitic comments a few years back, this recent outrage is just icing on the cake he already baked. Personally, I don't want to see another movie with Mel Gibson, but I still feel like Downey acted honorably. I can understand Downey feeling pissy that Zach basically undid all the hard work that Downey probably had to go through to help Mel get that cameo.

    89

Actually, Wesley Snipes befriended and helped Robert Downey Jr.'s career when no one would, not Mel. Mel may have later given public moral support to Robert, but it is Wesley who got him the job for U.S. Marshals, and spoke-up for him first; U.S. Marshals was his (Robert's) real comeback film, BTW–and do you know how Robert paid Wesley back when Wesley got into trouble? He didn't do spit for the man!!! He didn't stand-up for him publicly, or get him a job!!! Nothing???!!!! Robert Downey Jr. is being select, when handing-out second chances to his so-called friends. Again, he is a hypocrite. I guess Wesley didn't have the right color to qualify for Robert's help??? Mel beats a woman, terrorizes and threatens to kill her on a regular basis, and abuses her children, and Robert comes to his defense, but Wesley cheats on his taxes, and Robert conveniently ignores him?

Zach is a really great stand up comic, and RDJ is a phenomenal actor. But what RDJ has to realize is that Zach's position in Holloywood in tenuous. He's playing the same character and this is his career they're discussing. A LOT of people (myself not included) would not see the sequel simply because Mel is in it. These are peoples' careers here.

People deserve a second chance once they've proven that they deserve it. Mel is still going through this mess with his ex-girlfriend. He'll get his time.

Re: pattisullivan2 – you obviously dont know how the film industry works.. we know who mel is as a person outside of his acting.. so if people were to see him in a movie now we still know what he's really like and it doesn't leave people's minds.. if you can't take the mel out of the character he is acting as.. then your fucked as a actor.. because his personality is so outrageous to some people they just can't imagine him as anyone else but the person he is off screen.. and since so many people are against how he acts and the things he's said..people wont want to see or get involved with a movie with someone that offends them.. and that's not going to work for a movie and it's sales..

Re: WowItsCold – it's is not just the Oksana shit everyone is mad at.. thought the things he's sad and did to her are not helping.. but he has done more then that to offend people.. he has said a lot of racist things and he has said terrible things about jews and other cultures.. he's had more then 2 chances.. and that's why it's not the same for downey..

Re: pattisullivan2 – do you not know what bullying is?? because not wanting to work with someone because of the things the other person has done..isn't anywhere near what bullying is.. geez what are you 3? that was just dumb..

I used to love Mel Gibson's movies when I was a kid and now When i think of him i get creeped out. I don't think I could watch any movie he stars in anymore. He used to be really respected and a good actor. Compared to Mike Tyson who, to me, isn't really in the same category as Mel. I think it's too soon for Mel to get a second chance, if any at all. I agree with Zach because I would feel uncomfortable around him. But in time I think it will get better.

I'm with Downey. Also, this completely negates me being a fan of Galifianakis. That's pretty shitty Zack, how about you come down from that high-horse and ground yourself.

Re: Jaye1980 – Chinwe has clearly lived enough to realize that EVERYONE is racist to varying degrees at varying times. It's time you learned that about humans (including yourself).

  97. 97

it is good to see people admitting they realize they are all at least slightly racist. It is a product of the human condition. What we do with that is a COGNITIVE lesson. The fact is, we are all biased to varying degrees at varied times. How you deal with that is a cognitive lesson you must learn. Clearly the current theme is to loathe this part of yourself, and call others racist to make you feel non-racist. Hopefully this trend will end soon. The sooner we are self-affronting, self-admitting; the sooner we can further synergy between ethnic groups.

Re: threadless25 – mike tyson is convicted of violent sexual felonies. Mel Gibson is convicted of being drunk and human. Your thought process is troubling.

    Re: Cheapmetaphor
that's complete and utter B.S! hello, have you forgotten Charlie Sheen who was actually convicted of domestic violence against his wife, and ex gfs? Mel has not been proven to have physically assaulted his ex gf, the only thing he's guilty of is verbal abuse. but we don't even know what made him so angry in the first place, we are not hearing the full version of the tapes, rather we only heard edited parts of it. Charlie Sheen has been given way more chances than Gibson has had and yet he's still being hired, and if a convicted child rapist is still getting accolades in hollywood and is being sought after to work with, then who the hell are they to exclude mel just coz he was illegally recorded ranting at his ex on the phone? I'm sure if we were to hear half of hollywood's private arguments, most of us would get disgusted by them as well. most of them are as effed up, and some even more so, as mel is. Hollywood just turns a blind eye on them coz they didn;t say anything about the jews. Charlie sheen gets away calling his ex and everyone the n word, and being racist towards asians, Mark Wahlberg is forgiven for committing race crimes against asians and yelling verbal slurs at black people, Alex Baldwin gets a pass for his racist joke about asians as well and for calling his daughter a pig on a voicemail, Jonathan Rhys Meyes was forgiven for yelling out the n word, but Mel is blacklisted and vilified. it is hypocrisy, pure and simple.
