Emma Watson Just Wants To Be A Student!

Poor thing!

Just because Emma Watson is a super successful actress in a smash franchise doesn't mean that she doesn't want a normal educational experience!

The Harry Potter star recently revealed that she had a minor freakout at Brown University, where she's currently a student, after a few classmates asked for her autograph!

She explains:

"In the end I had a breakdown. Not a hissy fit, more like uncontrollable crying. Everyone looked at me horrified, like, 'Oh my God! What's wrong with her?' I just said, 'I'm really sorry, but I'm here to study and I just want to be a student. Would it be okay if I don't sign, because you'll be seeing me around all the time anyway?'"

She continues, however, that for the most part, people have been respectful of her celebritydom and treat her with respect:

"One morning I was walking down the corridor from the bathroom in just a towel and I thought I must be mad, anyone could take a picture up my towel and put it on Twitter. But no-one did. Not even when I had my birthday party - 100 people came and not one put a picture on Facebook."

That's actually quite sweet! We're happy that her friends have been able to provide her that!

Everyone deserves a normal college experience, so we're glad that she's been able to experience that - at least to a degree!

Thoughts??

aww thats really cool. it's so neat that she's going to college when she doesnt even need to

  2. 2

That's actually really awesome of the Brown students. Good for them, and good for her for getting an education.

    She's not a College kid, she's a University kid!

    BIG difference!

  4. 4

She's a celebrity and a student. She needs to accept it and stop being so immature. Just sign your god damn autograph. Your lucky that people even want your autograph.

  5. 5

Normal college kids don't have or make the kind of money she does. That's the price for wanting to be famous.

  6. 6

    aww

  7. 7

Good for her. She showed her human side and remain respectful to her fans.

  8. 8

I wouldn't ask for an autograph… I would strike up a convo, try to be her friend. Although, I hear she's quite the bitch… so who knows what really went down.

  9. 9

Emma is just soooo adorable. I hope she gets the freedom she wants whilst in college!

  10. 10

Now if a certain Twilight actress had a similar break down you'd be calling her a cry baby.

  11. 11

You know, I'm sure being a celebrity is "hard" sometimes, but it's the life she chose. Not really fair to act all dramatic about it. Just be lucky that you're rich and successful.

You people are ridiculous….she signed on to the harry potter movies when she was so young, probably because she loved the books not really because she wanted to be an actress- I don't get why you guys are like "she signed up for that", that would be an understandable statement when she was still acting, now she's a student and so now she's signed up to learn, people should respect that and let her do that.

  13. 13

STUPID BITCH!! NO ON OVER 10 CARES WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!

  14. 14

It's pretty cool that she just want to be a student. But the truth of the matter is that she's still a celeb, and she has the final HP movie coming out just in a couple of weeks so people are going to star freaking out every time they see her, and that includes Brown's students. So maybe, just maybe, she should try a little bit harder to understand that no matter how much she wants to be only a student not everyone there it's going to understand that and she should try to learn to deal with that, instead of breaking down in the middle of everyone (poor girl, btw!) after all she's an adult. Oh and also that's very classy of her friends to respect her and don't post the pics. Emma sounds like a very sweet girl.

  15. 15

I'd make tea outta her soiled thong!

  16. 16

    And her dirty bath water!

Re: Dusss – Yeah and this is where you look like an idiot, in the US there is no difference, after High School it's college/university. So yes she would be called a college student here.
Re: WhoCares123 – Normal college students in Ivy League are rich fyi. And to those bashing her, she is trying to study, I don't know where you are all from but in places like NYC it is considered rude to bother famous people. I know that's not the small town mentality.

  18. 18

Aww!! I LOVE Emma so much!!! That's got to be a little overwhelming to have a group of people asking you for an autograph not when you're at a public event, but when you're at school…trying to be normal. But she HAD to have expected it to an extent. I mean she's Emma freakin' Watson. THE Hermione Granger. Everyone knows who she is.
I'm glad that things have toned down though. Even though people still tweet about seeing her. They're just respectful enough not to take pictures. :D

  19. 19

So she should be allowed to be normal but no one else can? You are a walking contradiction Perez.

  20. 20

I'm glad she's getting along at school. It must be hard as most of those kids grew up watching the movies right along with her.

  21. 21

Re: Dusss – bahahahahahhahhahahaahahahahhaaahaaahaaahahhaahahaaa fail -_-…..

  22. 22

    God she is so hot.
    And smart too.
Lord, you did well with this one.

  23. 23

    Re: mscalto

    Actually you are incorrect.
Colleges are for 2 year programs (Associates degrees, technical degrees, etc.)
Universities are for 4 year degrees and graduate and post graduate work.

If you want to challenge me on this, just so you know I have 2 bachelors and a masters degree…

  24. 24

Re: WhoCares123 – I don't think you have an argument there because I'm preeeetttttyyyy sure that at the age of 12 Emma didn't see what she was signing up for and all she wanted to do is act.

  25. 25

i like this girl because she is cute i admit it i like her because she is cute.

but fuck her if she does not like fans asking her to sign things.
if she is so upset and want to be a normal girl. she should give away all the millions of dollers she has already made and all the money she will make off royalties. then i will respect her. but we all know she wont give up her money. so she is a movie whore

  26. 26

there's no diff in college vs university

  27. 27

uh Angus, you're a twit. COMMUNITY colleges are 2 year colleges. There are a ton of 4 year colleges and beyond. EVERY state has a 4 year college+ Washington State COLLEGE… offers Phd's. New York State College offers phd's.

Dang you're dumb for someone who went to school. I'm guessing you're rich and only went to one school.

  28. 28

You don't know how much money she has. Her parents would be in control of it 100%. I'm sure she got next to nothing for the first film.

and no a pre teen doesn't have the bitterness and experience of a 30 year old tramp on Hollywood Blvd. I am sure she had no clue. and NO she doesn't have to sign a damn thing if she doesn't want to!

  29. 29

I get the whole "I just want to be normal" bit, so here's a suggestion: Don't be the cover girl for Vogue magazine if that's your goal.

  30. 30

I like her but crying about it is immature.

  31. 31

    Re: The Dude!

    LOL!!!

  32. 32

Oh boo-hoo. She may want to consider the fact she wouldn't even be at Brown if it weren't for her celebrity. It's notoriously difficult for us Brit students to get into an American university (unless it's a study year done via an English university) and her A Levels were not particularly impressive. Had she been a regular girl her grades would not have been enough to allow her into the top English universities so she'd have had no chance of getting into Brown. It's pretty obvious she got in as she's a celeb with half a brain so maybe she should spend less time complaining and more time with her head in the books. Besides, if she wants a quite life and doesn;t want to draw attention then why even make these comments. She's a terrible actress as well so maybe she should be greatful life dealt her a good hand!

  33. 33

she joined around ten so no she did not know what she was signing up for !

  34. 34

Just because she has chosen to be in flims and to model, does not mean that every part of her life has to revolve around that. Nor should she have to accept invasions into her privacy or disruptions into her personal daily life (which is what people asking for autographs at school would be–a massive disruption) because "that's what she chose." I can completely understand why she wouldn't sign autographs at school! Soon tons of people would want one, then people would want to have their picture taken with her, and on and on and on. It would be distracting from the real reason that all of those students are there: to learn. I'm sure she is also hoping to make real friendships, a goal that would be deeply undermined if everywhere she went turned into a red carpet event.
Yeah, she's chosen to act and has been successful. It's made her very wealthy indeed. While obviously fame is a result of that (and I don't think she's upset or surprised at the idea that people WANT her autograph, but rather at feeling pressured to bring that aspect of her professional life into her university life), I do not think Emma or any other celeb "owes" anyone the right to be so invasive, not at school. It's just inappropriate.

You are an absolute gobshite. AS IF you would give your money away if you had worked to earn it. I can't actually believe you even wrote all that crap.

  36. 36

    Re: LulaBelle80

Not particularly impressive A-Levels? She got straight As.

  41. 41

Re: Angus8 – Community college is for 2 years {AA and all that jazz}. Colleges are usually focusing on certain things like liberal arts. Columbia COLLEGE Chicago is indeed 4 years, with undergraduate AND graduate.

  42. 42

Re: Angus8 – ACTUALLY you are wrong. I went to a college and have a bachelor's degree in Science (nursing). There are no associate programs at the college I went to. associate programs are generally at community colleges.
