    In the gay community, that is old news…I'm just glad he's able to come to terms with his sexuality b/c he is a good person and a great humanitarian….I just wish other celebrities like Anderson Cooper, Barry Manilow, Kevin Stacey and others can come out as well b/c there is no shame in being gay especially when you've had a successful life.

    I still LOVE Ricky Martin! We all knew he was gay anyway. Glad he finally reached the point of being honest with the entire world. And he is still hot, hot, hot!!!

    I still love him. I wish him all the best in the world. I still play livin la vida loca as my exercise and walk song. Yeah, it's a crazy life. He still hot. And I'm a girl. I hope he shows his sons at least in a picture. I plan to watch Oprah tomorrow.

    I think it really takes a lot of character to come out of that comfort zone and to say "Hey, I have more integrity than that to teach my children," is inspirational and something we should all aspire to. Teaching our youth not to hate and to accept people for who they are is going to be key for our future.

    Too bad he waited all this time to tell us what we've known for the past 20 years anyway. Just goes to show, who you really are will always shine through and there's no need to hide it, people bought his records even though they knew. He probably woudl've save himself a lot of angst during these years just by letting us know.

    On the other hand I would like to say that I still would like to see a world where people who are not heterosexual don't have to declare their sexuality in order to "clear the air". It's not like the rest of us declare our heterosexuality.. ever, so why should they?

    Mmm…It seemed like his sexuality was such a big deal even for him…And it really shouldn´t…Hetero or gay: you don´t have to necessarily proclaim it like crazy ..neither hide it ….and absolutely not to make a drama out of it …

    It´s just the fact. Nothing to cry about.

    Is it courageous to come out when your career is already over? Once, just once, I'd like someone to come out when he or she has a little money to lose. Then more would come out. Riquito coming out in 2001: meaningful. In 2010: meaningless.

    i hate that he came out. to each is own. but him coming out ruined all of my childhood dreams, hopes and admirations.

    I think it's wonderful that he comes out to the people closest to him; however, it's not necessary to come out to the "world." Anderson Cooper is a perfect example. Everyone knows he's gay, but he doesn't make an announcement to the world…yet.

    Professor VP…how about Ellen Degeneres? She was huge and had a hit TV show when she came out and as soon as she did she lost everything. She has fought for years to get back to where she was and now she's one of the most powerful women in Hollywood….

    and as for Dam him…get over yourself and grow up!! If this country wasn't so ass backwards Ricky Martin would have been able to "come out" 20 years ago. Did you have to tell your parents you were heterosexual??? It's ridiculous that he should have to explain his sexual preference to anyone!

Anne Heche told Oprah that before Ellen, she never even considered sleeping with a woman. Umm… then you're not gay, you just have a crush on someone. If you're gay, you don't have a choice.

    I still remember an interview that Barbara Walters did with Ricky several years ago. In that interview, Barbara flat out asked him if he was gay. I lost all respect for Barbara Walters as a newswoman after that interview. It was such an unprofessional question to ask anyone. I find it sad that so many people feel pressured to "come out" to the public in such a way. What business is it of mine to know whether or not he is gay, and why should it matter either way? I'm still hoping that he will come out with some new music soon — he's got great talent.
