We feel like every day, we're hearing something different!
There's been quite a bit of speculation surrounding the reboot of Spider-Man, specifically regarding whether or not Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy will be the primary love interest for the web slinger in the new flick.
The biggest surprise came with the casting of Emma Stone, whom everyone assumed would take on KiKi's role before it was revealed that she would be Gwen!
However, sources are reporting now that the Mary Jane character has been completely dropped from the reboot - mainly because the writer, James Vanderbilt, and director Marc Webb couldn't figure out a way to successfully incorporate a love-triangle into the script, and eventually became weary of the idea after how poorly a similar plot line was received in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3!
The same source is also confirming The Lizard as the reboot's main villain!
And we'd say that eliminating Mary Jane is probably a smart move! They've already covered all of that ground in the first films, so we think the more original this one is, the better!
What do U think?? Are U happy with the direction the new Spider-Man is taking??
