More Gays (Not Us) Are Voting Republican Than Ever Before

And we don't blame them. (But we won't be doing that ourselves!)
We blame Obama.
The national exit polls show a staggering number of homosexual Americans voted for reps of the Republican party this year. The GOP snagged 31% of gay and lesbian voters in this midterm election, compared to the 19 percent in 2008.
Richard Socarides, a former assistant to President Clinton and senior White House adviser on gay rights, explains that the community's expectations were "high" with this administration back in 2008, as they were optimistic gay rights would get the attention they deserve. Now, two years later, with nothing done, the optimism is dwindling. He explains:
"The president articulated in the early summer of 2009, when he had that event at the White House on the 40th anniversary of [the] Stonewall [rebellion] and had a couple of hundred people in the White House — he said, essentially, give me two terms, and at the end of eight years, I will have accomplished for you what I said I would. I think that some people come out of that as, we're not prepared to wait. And some people thought it was a bad strategy because they thought it was going to get harder not easier. You didn't have to be a rocket scientist to see this change coming in Congress a long time ago. So, I think that we as Democrats have a lot of explaining to do."
Exactly. The time is now, Mr. President, not later. Making promises in your first term to do things in your second term, which you don't even have yet, is wrong. If the polls are any indication, you might not have as much support come re-election time as you think.
Step up, sir and do some of the things you promised.

Melanie C Says: "It Gets Better!"

Actually maybe its because the economy was a bigger issue to most not gay rights. People this day in age are so impatient about this sort of stuff its sad.
Perez maybe "Not You" gays are tired of high taxes and all the spending. The gays I know have other priorities that concern finances.
I don't think real gay people care what you have to say Mario.
try voting for someone based on what they say they believe, not solely based on party (or color in this sorry excuses case) - nitwit………..
Sorry I didn't mean real I ment Most..but I stand by the rest.
Well so far he hasn't ended don't ask don't tell. He claims they "might end it during the lame duck session." I wonder. They did get a rather crappy health care bill passes. The left wished it would go further, the right wished it would go away. I tend to think that a lot of people can't believe a black man got elected. I myself wish Hillary got elected, but honestly I think that many men seem worse on women than anything. I still can't wait to see how the Republicans will lower taxes and still reduce the deficit. Seems like Reagan tried that once…
of course he's talking about reelection… thats all he does is campaign for himself. during his time in the chicago senate all he did was campaign for president. i dont agree with one thing he plans… AT ALL but i do appreciate how his plans are "big" and could feasibly take 2 terms for change to be witnessed on a grand scale. but i think its tactless to start campaigning for your second term with your approval rating in the shitter and assuming the american people want you there. giant douche all the way.
Maybe people are not paying as much attention to him as they should.
www.whatthefuckhasobamadonesofar.com
Really - we want more and more but in reality he HAS done a lot.
i personally believe ur the only gay person whining about obama the rest of the gays understand theres BIGGER issues going on instead of them getting to say i do..
I don't think real gay people care what you have to say Mario.
You got that right King, and judging from all these comments no one else gives a flying fuck either, give it up Mario, you so 2007 Butt Pirate!
BTW Mario, harry sez you can pick the peanuts outta his shit, have a nice gay day Rump Ranger.
Exactly!!! Who makes promises to do something in the next term when it's not even his yet??? This was my problem with from the beginning, all talk no action. He could tell us what he wanted to do, but never how it was going to get done.
FYI…..I'm loving this NEW Perez!! Keep it up!
I think this is ridiculous. Ummm this always happens when Bush was in the White House Democrats eventually assumed control. Now if the next presidential election goes republican you will see house and senate will be mainly democratic. You just can't please people and you know what it been democrat/republican in terms of presidency for a while. No one is ever pleased with people in power. Oh and I like the people defending republicans did Bush really help to stop what was coming. The economy took a turn when Clinton was in the Presidency the same time DADT was instated. Sheesh really people do you think this stuff happens over night?
I still think my prof said it best when your young and republican you have no heart, but if your old and democratic you have no brain. It all comes down to balance. I tend to land in the middle of it all, but I tell you what there was no way I was voting republican in Cali….hell no. Oh well.
First of all, I love ya Perez, but the President does kind of have some bigger issues on his plate…ya know like 2 wars and the economy. Not saying gay rights aren't an issue, just saying his priorities should be focused on the state of the worldwide economic catastrophe we are facing.
Secondly, we can't blame Obama for taxes, he has not raised the taxes. We are still under the Bush tax cuts.
That's why Hilary should have won…
A presidential term is 4 years long and he HAS tons of things to do. Not to mention we have a Congress that sit on their ass and handcuff him. We elected a guy who WANTS everyone to agree, not a good approach considering how few Repubs & Dems acutually believe that. But not everything can be a Presidential order– those can be opposed. Seriously, pushing an issue that has been draggin along for years to the forefront BEFORE ALL Americans bc your group (along with others) got promised something is wrong. And then he's not working for just you, turn your back on him. What have the repubs done for you? Whatever! This just exposes a lot of the selfish hypocrisy involved in group think. We should all be worried first and foremost about families living on the streets and about making life affordable for all of us. the New Deal took 3 years! to really improve things–nothing happens overnight.
the majority of LGBT community members i know all vote republican. which surprised the caca out of me b/c i am not gay and am a democrat. of course, the group i know are all older and extremely self reliant, financially secure and live their lives more concerned about providing a happy & stable life for themselves and their kids. that is the danger in the democratic party. when we become the party of the people, we risk getting pigeon-holed into helping just one group and then the other groups suffer or are neglected. at least in the republican party they are pretty much telling it to you straight. we are here to protect our fiscal ass. i guess i get that at some level. if you make enough money - it really doesn't matter who is running the government as long as it is a democracy.
Obama is doing all that he can as President. How can we ever forget the turmoil Bush left behind once he was out of office. He left things in shambles and it takes time to clean up a mess. Yet instead of actually being patient we place the blame at Obama's feet. SMH.
fine Obama didn't create don't ask don't tell take it up with bill clinton it is a deal he made with a republican congress because he couldn't keep it in his pants. So next time the gay community is hollering for help and wants to call their rights civil rights after what black in this country went through to get theres I won't be voting for or supporting that either, good luck so much whining from so many entitled
If it was not for the corrupt state government and masses of union workers in MA, Charlie Baker (Republican candiate for Governor) would have won last tuesday. He was the first Republican in MA to March in the Gay Pride Parade last summer… I am not gay but I am very active in the gay community in Boston….In the liberal state of MA it is assumed you are/should be a Democrat for everyone not just the gays. Charlie Baker made the Boston gay community realize/aware that they don't have to vote Democrat… the Democratic party are not the only ones on your side… in fact some of them are NOT at all. More people should open their eyes and their mind to this… a party affiliation should not be determined for you because of your sexuality.
There were other issues, Mario. Personally, I think this was the most racist hateful election ever. And that's saying something. It also says something when people elect dead people and known criminals. Not sure what, other than the general electorate is woefully uninformed.
DO YOU REPUBLICAN VOTING GAYS REALLY, REALLY THINK THAT THE REPUBLICANS WILL DO ANYTHING FOR YOU??????? GOD ARE YOU STUPID! THEY WILL IGNORE YOU, RUN YOU OVER, THEN BACK UP AND ROLL OVER YOU AGAIN!!! THEY HATE YOU! THEY HATE OBAMA - CAN YOU GUESS WHY?? WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH EVERYONE??? DO YOU ALL THINK OBAMA CAN JUST WAVE A MAGIC WAND AND MAKE ALL YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE? IT TAKES TIME! ESPECIALLY WHEN THE REPUBLICANS ARE FIGHTING HIM EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To say that Obama has done nothing for the gay community is something i cannot and will not agree with. He brought this issue to light and for you to say that he is failing you is wrong. Yes, the votes may not have gone your way, but the issue is on the table now. He might not get to it right this second, but he's given you his word that he will. There are bigger fish to fry here Mario. He's got 8 years of shit to clean up and it wasn't going to happen over night.
do not blame obama.
bush left us with 9 years of destruction.
obama can't do that within 2 years. get real.
ignorant americans. fuck that.
post the comments fucktard
Does anybody else smell BS??
I hate that everyone relies on the president to get shit done for them. Call your state Representative if you want shit done. Yes he can get things done on a national level but it takes a LONG time. Thats the problem with out political system. Not who is in charge.
Wow, I had no idea how many stupid gay people there are. Don't they realize republicans are not going to help their cause at all. In fact, there are some that would like them thrown in jail and killed just for being gay. They would like to make it against the law for being gay. Well they may get that if they continue to put republicans in power.
Everyone in this nation is growing impatient waiting for change in various areas - jobs, social security reform, healthcare reform, etc. Maybe I'm not happy with what Obama has accomplished so far, but that certainly doesn't mean I'm going to switch teams. For what reason - spite? Why on earth gay people would vote with republicans who are IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS NOT going to advocate for gay rights is beyond me. Fair weather voters are doing nothing but tying the president's hands further.
Just how un informed are the young gay voters today that would make them vote Republcian? The Republican party has never once stood up for the equal rights, minimum wages or health care. Most young gay voters don't even have insurance or can afford it because their wages have been kept down by this party so tell me again why these young fools are voting for this party? Wake up gays and vote for your best interest.
www.thethrifters.net
Gay people love their money too.
Re: CBenji – i agree with absolutely everything you just said. couldn't have said it better!
Re: karlitaj – Have you actually verified those facts? No…I saw this and can rebutt most of it. Half of the links don't even refer to the statement it's under. Just because someone put it on a website doesn't mean it's true. The problem is we are LAZY and can't be bothered to research the real truth for ALL candidates and take what anyone says at face value. Rep and Dems are both guilty.
The biggest fallacy on earth is that the Democrates are "FOR" poor people.
The reality is the democrates keep their boot on the throat of the poor because they know if they every do get their act together, stop depending on the government and become successful, they would most definitely become Republicans because now they want to hold on to their money and not let the government waste it all.
Perez will support Marco Rubio for President, fact.
If gays help throw out the democrats because of gay rights, they are STUPID!
Don't they know what the GOP thinks of them?
Stupid. So a bunch of gays are going to punish the entire country by voting for people who think their sexual identity is voluntary and evil.
So democrats and Obama havn't done enough? Why let's vote for the people who think we should be cured. dumasses.
Re: MrsChitownTex – Chicago Senate?!? Idiot.
Nancy Pelosi can now fly back to witch mountain. We have spoken. I can't wait until 2012. Start packing MIchelle, your husband has made a mess.
Cause Republicans always looked out for Gays. Just stupid. During the 2004 election Cheney wouldn't allow his lesbian daughter to join him on stage because the Republican party thought it would hurt their image. Yeah Perez they should vote Republican. Stupid!!!
THAT IS SOO STUPID! If democrats aren't doing anything about the gays than WHAT THE HELL MAKES THEM THINK REPUBLICANS WILL? A majority of republicans don't agree with gay marriage! Atleast most democrats do
No matter who is President someone will bash and the blame on previous Presidents. I think Obama could be doing a much better job.
DON'T BLAME OBAMA! WHY IS EVERYONE BLAMING OBAMA FOR EVERYTHING?
BUSH LEFT US WITH 8 YEARS OF TURMOIL!!!
NO PRESIDENT CAN FIX THAT WITH IN JUST 2 YEARS!!!
PEOPLE ARE SO FUCKIN STUPID!!! THINK ABOUT IT?
CAN SOMEONE FIX 8 YEARS WORTH OF TURMOIL IN JUST 2 YEARS?
HE IS TRYING HIS BEST!
Fukin stupid asses
Thank God!!! Ive always been a gay republican! I fuckin cant stand liberals! They always give lip service and never do anything! we want to fix the economy and not have a bunch of wasteful spending liberals in office! FUCK LIBERALS they are the most ill informed people and usually only vote based on party and not on facts
That's a big problem with modern Americans. We're so blinded with this party vs. party bullshit that we often ignore the issues and just blindly vote based on whether someone's Democrat or Republican. This country has become such an "us vs. them" place that it's pathetic.
And also, the President has bigger fish to fry than gay rights. You know, we're in the middle of a nonsense, endless war AND our economy is in the shitter. Most Americans can barely afford a roof over their head or food for their children. Maybe gay rights isn't #1 on his to do list.
FUCK OFF PEREZ. It's CONGRESS that has to act, stop blaming the President for this!
Why do you think that because your Gay you have to be a Democrat? They dont go hand in hand!!
I dont think it has anything to do with what Obama promised gays, but since you raised the issue. At least people who are gay know where most republicans stand when it comes to the issue of being gay, the democrats like and say they are so accepting until they get the chance to maybe change it and they back out. You never know where the democrats stand
Well I have a gun if they just want to shoot themselves in the foot…that would be faster, and easier on ther rest of us!
It's amazing what sweeping generaizations all the Libs/Dems on here are making. You say that ALL republicans are against gays. That's the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard along with us being racist and not wanting Obama because he's black. While I will admit a lot of Older (60+yo) Repubs maybe homophobic there is a whole new generation of republicans that have been raised much differently and don't have those views. What we do have is work ethic and wanting some personal responsibility from people with LESS big government. What is so wrong with that? If you think about it isn't that what everyone wants? Do you want the government telling you what you can and cannot do? If more young gays looked further into the republican ideals beyond the media lib hype of all repubs being racist/homophobes you would actually be able to form a REAL opinion. I am a Pro-choice/Pro gay marriage republican and I am one of MANY!
So, people are pissed that he didn't do something by an arbitrary deadline that he didn't commit to. LOL!
Re: mel1watt – It was actually progressive legislation at the time — before that it was 'we're gonna ask and you're gonna tell and we're gonna kick you outta here.' Seems archaic today. And it will be a thing of the past eventually.
Let go of the "GAY" issue and concentrate on fixing our Fu@king economy.Quit diverting from the issues so u can cover up ur "FU@K-UPS.
You don't know shit about politics. A president can only do one major thing at a time and universal health care will trump gay people everyday of the week.
I can't believe myself but I just donated to the Log Cabin Republicans. Let's face it guys, Obama is full of empty promises. Let's get to the ones that he is afraid to confront and win the Republicans over by our vote. It's all about who is in power, not who you like. These are elected officials not your friends. They do what their electorate press them to do. The "fierce advocate" brought us Rick Warren at his inauguration. Obama is an ex-gay. The gay community in Chicago will confirm that
I can't believe myself. But I contributed this morning to the Log Cabin Republicans. Let's face it, our "fierce advocate" Obama has done NOTING for us. The Democrats only use us as bait for elections. Let's get to the one who oppose us and influence their positions though our presence in their electorate.
Give your money to the elected officials who oppose you and state loudly your position on our rights as gays. They'll be forced to see that they need you.
that's actually really dumb. policy takes time. it's not over night. you can't expect obama to go in a fix everything within two years. when clinton left office, he left america with a 127 BILLION dollar surplus - and it took bush 8 years to lose all that plus more. the bottom line of all political republicans is to make money for the rich and the corporations. if we don't vote, and we let those nutty tea party people in, it's going to get much worst for us, as americans, gay and straight - and all the colors that we are.
If gays think that equal rights for gays are going to sky rocket to the forefront of congress' priority list with a majority of republicans, they the entire gay community is in for a rude awakening. And if you are so mad about DADT, try blaming the right president. Clinton started it, Bush maintained it and Obama is working on repealing it. It just isn't moving as fast as you want it to. I'm 23, I need a job before I can get married. Will it happen, yes, at some point, but everything takes time.
Obama hasn't done a damn thing for gays. I see Cindy and Meghan McCain out there pushing for gay rights more than I've ever seen Obama speak out about the issue and they're REPUBLICANS. Most gays who vote Republican vote based on economic issues regarding taxes etc that affect businesses that they own. I don't know one GAY BUSINESS OWNER who votes for the Democrats. Gays who vote for the Dems only do it because they think they have to as a gay person. NOT TRUE.
Re: grigor2000 –
Personally I've seen Meghan McCain and her Mother be more vocal about supporting gay rights than I have Obama. Last time I checked the McCain ladies were Republicans. Gay people are figuring out the Obama is NOT going to be the voice for gays in this country that they thought he'd be and now the tides are shifting. I know a lot of gay people who are successful in business and not a damn one of them votes for a Democrat. They have a business to run, and Dems tax the hell out of small business.
This is ignorant. Let the gays vote in people who use the bible and religion as a tool to hate gay people. I think that's a great idea. People saying they are simply voting against Obama because they haven't gotten what they want really need to look at the big picture. Repubs have made it very clear that they are AGAINST gay rights. Educate yourself, or not…you will get what you deserve voting this way….but I don't want to hear you bitching about it anymore.
No one should be a one issue voter. And it seems like Perez is adovcating that.
WHY DOES EVERYONE ASSUME THAT GAYS VOTE ACCORDING TO GAY RIGHTS ISSUES???? That's pretty stupid to think so.
I'm gay and I'm voting Republican because of financial concerns. I see Obama being absolutely ridiculous with spending, and also with the new healthcare legislation that will bankrupt us! Sorry….I'd rather have a stable financial country, than the right to marry.
You may not like hearing it, Mario, but at the end of the day there are more important issues to deal with. People aren't running around screaming "Oh my god, gays can't get married!". They're worried about the economy and whether or not they're able to provide for their families.
I think it's a bit worrying that you're so ill-informed on goings on in your own country that you think gay rights are the most important issue. I am Australian, so I can't really say with a certainty, but I am pretty sure that the economy and healthcare will trump gay rights every time.
The government (and a lot of the people) have spoken, and they don't give a damn because they've got bigger problems.
there are bigger issues than gay rights. sorry.
Americans do not want the health care system our Pres is putting into place. Every American wants a pay check and a job. That's where our Pres made him mistake. Many more Americans are going Rep. because of this factor.
any of the gay people who have commented on this post who voted republican i'd love to hear who you actually voted for. would love to see which of your candidates are pro gay rights. please list them so i can educate myself. as for the new speaker of the house Republican John Boehner here's some of his history of how he voted regarding gay issues.
*
Voted NO on prohibiting job discrimination based on sexual orientation. (Nov 2007)
Voted YES on Constitutionally defining marriage as one-man-one-woman. (Jul 2006)
Voted YES on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Sep 2004)
Voted YES on banning gay adoptions in DC. (Jul 1999)
Rated 0% by the HRC, indicating an anti-gay-rights stance. (Dec 2006)
Obama is a loser President who is way over-rated and always has been.
Obama just made too many promises and underdelivered….let's face it… he was inexperienced and surrounded himself with bad advisors…in 2011 he needs to replace a number of them…thank God R Emmanuel resigned…Gibbs, Guitner, Napolitano, and others should go too.
This posting is seriously ridiculous! So, a liberal president is having a hard time passing gay rights laws so people think REPUBLICAN conservatives will do it?!?! They DON'T WANT TO DO IT. THEY NEVER WILL. If gay rights are ever passed, it will be because of liberals. Don't you think Obama has a lot of pressure and he's working on some other important issues? Sorry he can't do everything at once….. Did you forget it's only been two year? He got us out of Iraq, got us healthcare… and he's got a lot on his mind. So voting Republican is the dumbest thing to do….. So how far it takes the gay community!!
Gay rights or recognition has gotten better, but it didn't happen overnight. I support the President and believe changes will happen through discourse not through disloyalty to one's own Party.
Obama couldn't get anything done because the repubs blocked him at every possible turn, and to make the outcome even more in their favor they spread lies and fear the entire time- and still going strong… and then frustrated idiots vote them all in thinking that they will fix everything- after they just spent almost two years making sure it didn't? Effing Genius.
Re: Mere1973 – It was also on Rachel Maddow, if you have ever watched she backs everything up with facts, unlike Fox news and other right wing media that tells blatant lies. I don't believe every website I read, this one just so happened to have the same information as Rachel so I posted it. Thanks for your concern.
The assumption of some libs here that think they know more about gay people than the gay person knows him/herself. Your grouping a whole group of people together-so does that mean your a racist/bigot because that's you what you do with the republicans.
A lot of the libs I know are some of the worst kind of racist and they pass it on to their kids.
You libs to like ram it down are throats that we are bad. It's getting old beside you attacking George Bush being your other fave thing to do.
If this is true, then they are stupid. Republicans don't support gays or a women's right to choose. Because they are not happy with steps Obama has made towards helping them achieve their most recent goals, they vote republican? They are stupid then.
Im gay and I never once thought of Obama or his unfulfilled promises to the GLBT audiences. I was too busy thinking of friends and a partner who have lost their jobs in the past year, businesses that are shuttered, a house that won't sell, taxes, unproductive bailouts, a healthcare plan nobody bothered to read before they voted in, staff we had to let go, and an obscene national debt. Before this year, I usually voted D. No more. Now we vote the issues, as are a lot of our friends.
Re: MissJ0604 – If they dump the healthcare law, cease all the over spending, and/or provide any help to small business or the economy, they will have helped me greatly.
umm…… he sorta has some other stuff to do. i mean i love gay people but gay rights isn't really at the top of his to do pile. i'm thinkin the economic crisis and the war come first. and probly health care. poverty too. and jobs. so calm the hell down. and if you think the republicans are looking out for the best interest of gay people, you'd be wrong. one of the main reasons we haven't been able to get stuff done is because of the republicans attempts to block all progress and make the administration look bad.
and i'm tired of people acting like everything is president obama's fault WE HAVE THE SYSTEM OF CHECKS AND BALANCES FOR A REASON. WE ARE NOT UNDER A DICTATOR SHIP OR AN AUTOCRACY. THE PRESIDENT DOESN'T DECIDE EVERYTHING THEREFORE SHOULD NOT BE BLAMED FOR EVERYTHING.
It takes more than a year to change laws that have been set many many more years. Give the man a chance. He's doing more to change these ridiculous laws than any president we have seen to date. Give him a chance and calm down!
Gosh. I'm really sorry to say that ’cause I'm half American myself but sometimes a lot of Americans are really stupid. You thought Obama was black jesus and would make all the problems just go away with his magic powers and when everyone realized he's just human they started hating him. That's seriously dumb.
I'm amazed that people are figuring this stuff out now. He never supported gay rights from the beginning. This was no secret.
Re: vanity_vicious – How can someone be "half American". The majority of Americans are of mixed ethnicity. Unless you're half Native American, that makes absolutely no sense. You sound like full blooded dumb ass to me.
Why is everybody being so fucking stupid? Voting all these republicans in office! Are we forgetting that it's the republicans that got us into this mess? Republicans don't look for what's best for the country, they look out for themselves and the rich, and mark my words if we elect more republicans, things will get infinitely worst! And if the gays really think that the republicans will do ANYTHING, or even give a fuck for any their causes, they are far out of touch with reality and just setting themselves up for huge disappointment. Thats all I got to say about this.
Re: vanity_vicious – You can't be "half American". You're either American, or you aren't. Which one is it?
Re: seespeakhear – not impatient just been waiting a long time
It is possible to be half American. If you are born to American citizens in certain foreign countries you have Dual citizenship. Many children who's parents are military and stationed in England and many other countries have dual citizenship. If they were born and raised for part or all of their life there, they consider themselves to be half American.
Re: karlitaj – OMG…just because its in Rachel Madcow disease show…it's true? I'd believe Perez first before I believe what that lesbo says in her show….she's next to go. Happy to see Oberjerkman go.
maybe people should vote based on the candidates' personal views and not based off their political party affiliation, it really keeps americans close minded
That's sad to hear especially since Republicans are notorious "gay bashers." In Obama's defense, he is trying to do everything for all people but the fact is healthcare and the economy are priorities. These issues effect all Americans.
To me this just proves there are a lot of dumbass gays out there.
FINALLY you made intelligent statements about politics!!!
I agree with April 20th.
Someone shouldn't vote on a particular label. To me, it's very ignorant to vote purely on a party. You're saying Perez, you'll never vote Republican. To me, that is fairly ignorant. Not that I don't support your choice, because democratic views are something you support more of. I support more of Republican views. But I look at WHO is running, because I could vote just Republican and the people I vote for, don't even support what I do and what a disappointment to me.
Obama doesn't give a shit about gays, he's been asked many times on gay movements and he really hasn't had a response. He cares about saving all the lazy asses on welfare. To me, that's all I see him caring about. He's screwed us middle class people over badly. So much for sticking to ONLY democrat. Not every Republican is against gay marriage either. I'm not against it! I can definitely respect most democratic views.
This country is severely and dangerously separated by 'parties'. Democrats have a bad rep to Republicans, and Republicans have bad reps to Democrats. What is going to happen to our future? Not saying everything should be the same, but these days it's not really separated like it used to be. Maybe open your eyes a bit to both parties like I have! Makes life easier.
Re: kylielover02 – Dumbasses gays are? For what…? They've been let down. What's wrong with looking into other options? Obviously you don't give a shit because it sounds like you also don't like gays…
If anyone/anything is dumb here; it's you, your smart ass comment, and your ignorance. Respect people, I'm shocked you even call yourself a Liberal… aren't most Liberals for peace and equality???
WHAT NOW, tables have turned!
Re: SistaSoulja – I'm a Republican and I'm not a gay basher, nor is my family =). There's a lot of bad rumors of Democrats, but I don't think that unless someone makes it obvious. It's sad that this country has divided in such a political party civil war.
Re: sunflowers – Exactly! I never vote on just one party. I look into both candidates, so does my husband and my family. We all support more of the Republican views on certain things, but we respect most Democratic views as well. Our mayor is black Democrat and he is amazing. We're very lucky to have him, because our city needed what he supported to build it into a better place all around. We actually voted him in, because mostly republicans. So not all rumors are true about either party. It's the rude and out spoken people from each party that create the hatred.
Re: Eyes Crying Purple Tears – I see why you feel the way you do because media likes to stir up rumors… but you're making a HUGE ass out of yourself. You're exactly the type I shake my head in shame to. Republicans didn't get us into any mess, nor did Democrats. The people who were put INTO OFFICE RUINED IT.
Types like you are the reason why this country is going to shit as well, not just who is president at the time. You must have bananas for brains or something like that. Good lord. Maybe you should go home and have your mom wipe your butt for a while again, we got some maturing and realization to face first before we vote again I think.
Re: sillygur – The Health care plan he created actually will raise our taxes. He is getting our money more and more, he's just putting it under the bed and doing it slowly so no one notices. Pay closer attention, you'll notice he is doing it just like Bush was.
Re: tvmaven – Thank you for that, I'm a republican with a lottt of democratic friends and it's really nice to see other people respecting each other like you did too.
