JoBros Vs. Jason Mraz

| Filed under: Music MinuteJonas BrothersJason Mraz

jonas-brothers-steal-songs.jpg

It seems that the Jonas Brothers' Camp Rock 2 song Introduce Me sounds a LOT like Jason Mraz's I'm Yours.

So much so, that he commented on it, but legal action isn't in the cards!

Mraz said:

"I heard the song, and it was just a tremendous, tremendous horror of a tune. I noticed a few similarities in the melody, but it wasn't enough to pick up the phone and argue with somebody about it. If anything, I just wanted my $1.29 back that I spent on iTunes."

Wowsa! Do U think the JoBros stole the song?!

  1. 1

wow i love Jason even more for that comment.

  2. 2

I thought the first time I heard that song it was a purpose rewrite of the song for the movie. So yes, it is a blatant rip off of "I'm Yours".

  3. Dusss says – reply to this

    3

    They stole it.

    They did a horrible job!

    Jason Mraz is Cool!!

  4. 4

thats probably the only reason why that song was decent.

  5. 5

ARGH I WANNA SLAP THIS MRAZ GUY ON HIS HEAD. he's just jealous cause Nick writes better songs. #TeamIntroducingMe

  6. 6

When I heard the song in Camp Rock (yes, I admit it, I watched Camp Rock) I thought it sounded an awful lot like I'm Yours.

  7. 7

I don't think the Jonas Brothers stole it. Yeah the melody is similar, but that doesn't mean anything.

  8. 8

    Very, very similar.

  9. 9

Horror of a tune is correct! I had to search for this in youtube, as I am not a Jonas fan, and I must say he TOTALLY ripped off Mraz with that music. The lyrics in this song are some of the worst I have ever heard in my life.

  10. 10

Hahah, Jonas writing a better song? Mr. A-Z is one of the best lyricist ever.

  11. 11

Yup. everyone's trying to sound like Jason, he's top of the charts.

  12. 12

lilalo…I feel sorry for you if you really think that's true……

  13. 13

Re: lilalo – You must be joking. Writing crap about liking cheese on pizza is beyond pathetic. You don't need to rhyme that badly. Jason Mraz has NOTHING to be jealous about with this crap.

  14. 14

Disney "stole" the song, not the jonas brothers, they did not write the songs for camp rock 2. just saying

  15. 15

Even if it was stolen, it wasn't written by any of the Jonas Brothers, so they wouldn't be at fault. Yes, Nick performed it in the movie, but it was written by someone named Jamie Houston for the movie. Source: checked the liner notes in the CD booklet.

  16. 16

Re: lilalo – Sorry to burst your bubble but Nick didn't write the song.

  17. 17

    Re: lilalo – Nick didn't write it….

  18. 18

TEAM JONAS! Jason Mraz is totally wrong about that song! I love that song so much and it fits the movie, Camp Rock 2, perfectly. Also, don't blame the Jonas Brothers!! They did not write the song…the song writers for the Disney movie, Camp Rock 2, wrote the song…so if Jason Mraz is mad, go yell at them! Plus, sorry Jason…but the JoBros are way more wealthy, popular, and cuter than you! SORRY :/

  19. 19

yeah i thought the same thing when I heard the jo-bro song,,but then again, the chord formation is pretty common

  20. 20

Okay…you all need to SHUT UP! The Jonas Brothers did not even write that song. The Disney song writer for the movie, Camp Rock 2, did. So if Jason Mraz is mad, then he should be mad at Disney, not the JoBros. Also, the song GOES WITH THE MOVIE PLOT…so even though some of you think it is cheesy, then it is! It is supposed to be! His character is telling this girl Dana all the random facts about him and he puts it into a song. I personally really like the song and I think Nick looks really cute when he sings it! ;) TEAM JONAS!!!!!!

  21. 21

Re: lilalo – I agree with you! YOU GO GIRL!!! TEAM JONAS ALL THE WAY :)

  22. 22

umm from the 30 second preview i heard on itunes i'd say its pretty damn similar but i would rather not listen to the whole song (it was awful) and if jason's not that torn up about it it can't be that big of a deal

  23. 23

Yeah, there are so many things that song has in common with I'm Yours. He even has "doo doo doo"'s. Jason should slap them

  24. 24

they didn't steal it because they didn't write it. i own the cd and above the lyrics for the song it was written by someone named Jaime Houston, who probably works for disney. Nick was probably told to sing what they gave him. he had nothing to do with it because he is not credited with writing it.

  25. 25

Re: raybanlove – No offense, but I believe the Jonas Brothers started the Ray Ban trend wayyyyy before Jason Mraz. So if you are creating that name for yourself, then you should look to see where it came from before you start taking sides. Hypocrite.

  26. 26

Mr. Mraz is jealous because they only hit he has had was I'm Yours and because he needs a bit of fame. Not forgetting to mention he's a total immature man and he's desperate.

And for this stupid people commenting, you have to see the movie to say if the song is an horror, because that's the only way to know if it matches with what's happening in the movie. GENIUS. And second, he did not write the song cause it was for the movie, the songs were already written.

    Now I'm done.

  27. Shark says – reply to this

    27

complete rip off…amazing actually….not just the melody…but the complete arrangement…yes its different words..but with the same spacing and just a complete rip off of jason.
i dont care if you are taking the high road…its a obvious rip off…sue em…at least get an injunction against the jonas brothers singing..its awful.

  28. 28

Such a sour puss, they didn't write the music they sang in Camp Rock, plus I think Nick did a fantastic job on the song.

  29. 29

Yes it does sound like it some.. And I agree with Jason Mraz… I want my $1.29 back!

  30. 30

too bad the jonai didnt write Introducing Me…the Camp Rock writers did!

  31. 31

the Jonas Brothers didn't write this song.
A writer for their movie did. So really they aren't stealing anything.
No matter how many similarities there are.

  32. 32

Honestly, the two songs sound vaguely similar at best. And besides, wasn't that song written for Nick to sing for the movie? I'm sure he had no say in singing the song itself. Honestly, this is a rather douchey sort of comment from the usually very eloquent and humble Mr. Mraz. Introducing Me is a cute song, no where near a terror.

  33. 33

They didn't even write that song!

  34. 34

I noticed it the first time I heard it and then my husband (who was forced to listen to Radio Disney on my kid's birthday) noticed it immediately. Definite similarities….

  35. 35

I'm SHOCKED Jason called it a "Song"!

  36. 36

It is a rip off. Since they didn't write it the Jonas Brothers technically aren't at fault. And, you underaged, overzealous Jonas fans, calm your asses down. That is all.

  37. Dusss says – reply to this

    37

Re: JonasCutie247 – maybe you should look up the meaning of the word 'hypocrite

Jason isn't even mad… yes, there are some similarities (you can't deny that) but nothing to go crazy about.
It's not his style. And the comment about the 1.29. Just irony (look up that word as well) He just can't be bothered.

He doesn't hate, but why do the Jonas-fans?

    Read people, read.

  38. Dusss says – reply to this

    38

    Re: NicoleCth

Ehm… we HEARD the song. We don't need to see the entire movie for that.

  39. 39

Jason is such a hater like the jobros didnt write the song and the song is meant 2 be silly and 4 a younger audience

  40. Dusss says – reply to this

    40

    Re: JonasCutie247 – rayban trend???

When DID they start it? Facts please.
Not just for as long as you can remember because that doesn't mean anything at your age.

  41. 41

OMG I've been saying they sound alike since I heard it when it came out. Thank God someone agrees.

  42. 42

the first time i heard it i thought it was that song. it was horrible and a complete rip off!!!!!!!

  43. 43

Re: NicoleCth – Jason Mraz had a very popular song in 2002 called "The Remedy" (you can trust me on this one; I'm old) and since then he's accumulated a loyal and fanatic fan base of pretty down-to-earth women and guys who know how to score good weed, so I doubt he's jealous and/or needs more fame than he already has, and the fact that "I'm Yours" proves he can still sell singles six years since his debut ("I'm Yours" was released in '08) suggests he isn't "pathetic" (professionally speaking, anyway) either. Also, while I'm sure "Camp Rock 2" is the "Citizen Kane" of made-for-TV Disney musicals, could you please explain its genius for the unenlightened among us? Either way, whether or not a song's lyrics fit with a movie's storyline doesn't change the fact that its musical arrangement might be stolen (ironically, from an album entitled "We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things").

  44. 44

FAIL…this isn't a Jonas Brothers song, it was just interpreted by Nick

  45. 45

At first I didn't even recognise the similarities between the two songs, but others did almost straight away, so now I can definately see what they mean. When it comes down to it it's just the same chord progression, no big deal. Remember there's only so many notes to work with.

And btw, the Jonas Brothers should not be blamed for this, Nick performed the song but it was written, produced and mixed by Jamie Houston at B.Y. Studios in Venice, CA.

  46. 46

The songs sound nothing alike. Jason needs to stop picking on the "little people" and grow the EFF up. I love his music and everything but just because Nick Jonas is singing to an acoustic guitar, doesn't mean he stole the song from Jason. FYI Jason Mraz, you aren't the first one to sing acoustically. Both artists are great. Stop hating.

  47. Rawr. says – reply to this

    47

Re: NicoleCth – Im Yours isn't the only popular song that Jason Mraz has written, Lets see Lucky… Popular for Glee to reproduce it? Has Glee ever done a Jonas Brothers song? And your right the song probably wasn't written by the Jonas Brothers, good thing too because that would make me think they have ZERO Talent then, but then the writers of the song should be sued. NOT EVERYONE ENJOYS DISNEY FAKE SONGS! Thats all I really have to say :)

  48. 48

Bahaha, I love all the 14 year old fantards commenting on their love of the JoBros and how cute Nick is. The song is CLEARLY incredibly similar to "I'm Yours" to ANYONE who has an ear for music whatsoever. However, if Mraz doesn't have a problem with it, let it go.

  49. 49

the tune sounds similar but the song is completely different. Mraz just wants people to notice him again. I am not a Jonas fan but I can defend them by saying it is a COMPLETELY different song. In fact I listened to both of the songs at the same time and did not sound like one another. So nice try Mraz.

  50. 50

the people who are saying "omg jonas brothers are the best! jason mraz sucks!" need to shut up. you wouldn't even have a single idea who jason mraz was if he hadn't had said anything about how the song was similar to that crap disney wrote for nick. i agree with jason mraz, it isn't worth making a lawsuit over a shitty ass stolen song.

  51. 51

Re: JonasCutie247 – ray bans have been around for DECADES, the Jonas brothers didn't start any trend in my life. i just think that JASON MRAZ Is FUCKING AMAZING. get over yourself.

  52. 52

Raybans have been around for decades! Jonas Brothers didn't start the "trend." lol Jason Mraz still packs them in at concerts and has a very loyal fan base. He is also very inspirational, political, environmental, and well an adult. You wouldn't understand.

  53. 53

hell yeah i heard that song n im like oooh theyre doing jason mraz i did like the song it was cute but the moment i heard it i was like wtf this is so funny even my niece and nephew started singing im yours but to their surprise it wasnt lol

  54. 54

Both of their CD sales are down so they are trying to "START" something to get you fools to buy their CD & downloads….DON'T DO IT…

Jason Mraz DOES NOT buy/download the Jonas Brothers ITunes…..

  55. 55

    Re: lilalo
    What are you, 12?

  56. 56

Re: DJ Wonderman – BRAVO!!! This post was brilliant! Seriously, one shouldn't attempt to bash an artist and say he has no other hit songs. I recall The Remedy, You and I Both, Word Play, and Lucky all getting air time! Jason Mraz is an amazing talent.

  57. 57

Okay first, Jason Mraz has a point, it's similar. But part of me wonders couldn't he just say that without hating on someone? I mean, God. The insult was as bad as the song. And if he wants to sue someone…it wouldn't be the Jonas Brothers. They didn't write it. Nick Jonas just sung it. And to be honest, I don't think it's horrible. It fit the context of the song really well and it's different from what we're used to seeing from Disney. So, Jason, man up and find something better to do than bitch. When's the last time you put out a song anyway?

  58. 58

I too thought that it was an intentional thing. So either it is intentional or a rip off. Either way, it's Jason Mraz's song being destroyed.

  59. 59

I watched this with my daughter and I knew the song sounded VERY familiar but I couldnt place it. Nice comment from Mraz though

  60. 60

Yup! I noticed the BLATANT similarities to the song "I'm Yours" when I first watched the movie MONTHS ago.

  61. 61

before you start hating on them the jonas didn't write the song, disney did! , and if he wanted to hear the song why he didn't just hear it first on youtube, idiot. besides his song is EXTREMELY boring, why so much drama?!

  62. 62

Actually, I didn't even expect Mraz to call the Camp Rock song ALL that, and I'm not a MRAZ FAN. O_o

  63. 63

KAY! They didn't even write the song…Nick was given the song to sing it ……GEEZ! Stop hating on both Jonas Brothers and Jason Mraz, people. && plus the song does not sound anything like "I'm Yours." I'm pretty sure the boys already bought an individual copy of the song. So technically they've already paid you $3.87, it's even now right Jason?? Hahhaha.

  64. 64

Wow! I just listened to "Introduce Me" on YT. It is indeed pretty much the exact same piece of music as "I'm Yours"!!! No doubt about it!!!

  65. 65

Don't care about them or their music but I'd totally do all 3 Jonas bros at once.

  66. 66

    Sloooowest…. place……on…… the……… net……. to……. get…… a…….. fucking……. comment……. posted.

I'll check back in 20 minutes. Damn.

  67. 67

How are they getting away with this? they should just quit… this is identical.. just faster… stupid tweeny movies and music.

  68. 68

i love how "team jonas" is jumping all over this. jason mraz is pretty successful and i'd be mad if that was my song. it sounds almost exactly like "i'm yours". so the jonas brothers didn't write it– big whoop. the song still sounds the same.

  69. 69

OMG thats where that song came from! I have been trying to figure out forever what that sounded like. Oh well, i think hes a dick for saying it was horrible because it wasnt that bad, but hes obviously not mad or anything. and anyways all the retards saying JASON MRAZ IZ BETTERRR! stfu DISNEY stole the song NOT the jobros, haters! :)

  70. 70

they stole it, and destroyed it.
    assholes.
I actually think that jason should pick up the phone and argue with someone,
cause there is more than a little similarity.
    Jason is the best!
    I love himm!

  71. 71

    Re: misscarrijebaby

Love your screen name!! I chuckled out loud. Not quite a laugh, but I'm very amused. :O)

  72. 72

my question is, why the fuck did he download this in the first place?

  73. 73

all music is stolen from someone else

  74. 74

There is a place to to well place your complaints online most community's will tell you not to name the place of employment, but will allow you to give details, Not everyone is excited to work for who they work for at all times, try customers_suck on livejournal…there are many others like this, I don't think it is right to post on the company's name personally, there are plenty of other places to complain people, why are you working there if you hate it so much??

  75. 75

The delivery of that song is god awful ! the song sounds similar with Jason Mraz's song. Its hard to imagine anyone listening to the Jo Bros. Listen to "Count on Me" by Bruno Mars - the melody is alot more original but still sounds a little like jason's original tune.

  76. 76

I'm fan of both Jason and the JoBros. and I also thought it sounded like I'm Yours but really if Jason didn't care why we should care?? And yeah Nick didn't even write this song so I think there shouldn't be any problem with that. JoBros didn't write it Jason won't sue so what's the matter. Everyone has they're own points of view. Why the need to criticize? They are also for different ages, JoBros are mostly for kids and teens and Jason has a grown-up audience so they have music for different audiences that's it.

  77. 77

DUDE. The JoBros didn't write the song, Disney did. Everyone… stfu.

  78. 78

Re: lilalo – You're either 15 or you're on crack.

  79. 79

    Re: JonasCutie247 – You're a pubescent twit.

  80. 80

Sounds like stealing to me… it really does sound like an awful rewrite of I'm Yours.

  81. 81

Re: JonasCutie247 – Please…Please…Please…stay in school. In fact, go on weekends, and over ALL the holiday breaks. And during the summer. And if you've already graduated, give back your diploma and re-enroll because you are sorely lacking intelligence.

  82. 82

Re: JonasCutie247 – Rayban's have been popular since before you were a tickle in your daddy's scrotum. Moron.

  83. 83

Re: fuckyourfeelings – Probably because someone said "Hey Jase, there's a rip off of your song on that Disney movie Camp Rock 2".

  84. 84

wow, that song really does sounds just like I'm Yours from Jason Mraz!! He should argue with someone, if not the jonas brothers then Disney. Write your own music!

  85. 85

I love the joe bro's therefore my opinion is really biased, but nonetheless, just because someone picks up a guitar and starts singing random lyrics doesn't mean that they're stealing "i'm yours." And unless jason mraz hid the fact he's trying to grow a mustache and likes to use dude as a noun, an adjective and a verb, then it's just songs that sound very similar. Team JONAS!

  86. 86

They stole it because they are talentless brats. When are they gonna go away ?

  87. 87

Jason, you are fucking awesome. Finally we meet someone WITH talent and WITH SENSE. Of course this talentless fuckers would steal a nice of a beat as I'm your's, Song's a classic. Not them.

  88. 88

Re: JonasCutie247 – The Ray-Ban brand was founded in 1937, the Jonas Brothers parent's weren't even born yet! Trends come and go, Ray-Bans have been popular for over 70 years. Oh, and btw, ray-bans have NOTHING to do with whether Jason Mraz or Jonas Brothers are more talented. A battle which Jason Mraz would easily win. Especially if it stood between Introducing me and I'm Yours. JB might have all the lovesick 15 and down girls on their side, but JM has the rest of the world backing him on this one.

  89. 89

The JoBros didn't write the song, Perez. I'd think you'd have known that.

  90. 90

the jonas brothers didn't write the song, and its a really cute song, its nothing serious, but it works with the story line. im glad jason mraz didn't take any offend but people on this website a so judgy that it's annoying… people should think before posting stupid/ignorant comments

  91. 91

It dosen't hold a candle to Jason's Love Is!!!!! It's a shame that they are running out of material and copying the great songwriter singer though……….

It seems alot of singer's jump on the bandwagon of what's hot at the moment and try to recreate a hit for themselves. This will never change, that's why all the music starts to sound the same!! Stay original, that's where it's at!!!

  92. 92

OKKKK. I got to 10 secs of the song on Youtube and can totally see the similarity. Kinda cheap yes but on the positive side, it's a compliment…. Kinda. I guess. Mraz is all about the positivity so yes we'll say it's a compliment.

  93. 93

Hooooly rip-off…Jason's full of class to not take action…I totally would have

  94. emgus says – reply to this

    94

WHO CARES WHO WROTE THE EFFING SONG?!?!?!!!! That has nothing to do with anything! The question is: it is a rip off? Yes, yes it is. No doubt about it. The whole song sounds like I'm Yours, but written for a disney movie. For kids, hense the stupid lyrics. I'm not a big fan of Jason Mraz nor the Jonas Brothers, but I think Jason should sue the shit out of the disneywriter. If the guy who sued The Black Eyed Peas for like three chords of the intro of one song then Jason should sue for this shit. It's not just a couple of chords, it's the whole song.

  95. 95

LOL. embarrasing my fellow JONAS Brothers fans. no wonder so many people dont take the fandom seriously. you cant even defend
them sensibly. and calling out to JAson Mraz? He is an amazing lyricist. and so is Nick. but cmon be realistic. anyway, I heard Nick's
version, and yes it did sound similar to IM YOURS, but if i'm not mistaken, ive read it somewhere that
they got license from whoever to re-do the wrong. and CMON, even if you dont take Disney seriously, they
are not stupid enough to allow such an atrocious action. and besides Nick Jonas is a songwriter himself, he would know and realize that
the song is familiar, he probably have asked about it. he's not stupid.

    _in GD's words, "I'M OUT"

  96. 96

I think the Camp Rock song was heavily inspired by Jason Mraz and his style of music. However, I don't think it's similar enough to be considered plagiarism, that's for sure. Disney wrote all of the these songs for the movie, NOT the Jonas Brothers, and they have a history of writing music that is purposely created in the style of popular songs that are on the radio at the time. The funniest part of this article is that Jason Mraz paid money for a Disney song on iTunes.

  97. 97

Technically, the Jonas Brothers didn't steal it. They sing it in a film and on tour but it's not their song.

  98. 98

Likely yes… Jason Mraz is one of the new artists that useshis own voice and talents and the Jonas girls are just a new version of any pathetic boy band developed to sell and make money for Disney… They'r stuff sucks, they suck on TV and they are boring in that they are nothign different for anyone to listen to… Truth is harsh! God for JM!

  99. 99

Re: JonasCutie247 – Wow you're exactly the type o person talentless actors adnsinger rely on to get rich! Keep doing what you do and there will be many more useless "artists" getting serious coin for doing nothing you or I couldn't do… Betchya lov Jersey shore too right?

  100. 100
