Glee Hits A Season Low In The Ratings!

glee-hits-season-low-in-the-ratings-still-dominates-timesplot

But that doesn't mean it didn't dominate its time slot!

The smash FOX series pulled in about a 4.5 rating, averaging about 10.8 million viewers!

Wowza! It's their lowest, and they're still leaving shows like NCIS and One Tree Hill in the dust!

Impressive, guys! But don't get too cocky - the ratings could still continue to slip! (Pssh. Who are we kidding?!)

Thoughts??

Glee is no longer kid appropriate so they've lost a huge audience.

  3. 3

glee never had good ratings..there just average ,like all the shows out there.

  4. 4

there's wayy to much sexual shit going on.
i'm 16, and it use to be something my 9 year old brother, 14 year old sister, and both parents could watch together as a family, now it's just awkward.

  5. 5

It was a novelty when it first came out and now the novelty has worn off. How many times can watch the cast remix old songs? Pretty boring after a while.

  6. 6

I kind of feel like they pulled out all the big guns for the first couple episodesand now each of them has gotten progressively more boring.

  7. 7

Sorry. America is fickle. Glee is going downhill fast because of many factors. A. They have lost the original vision, whatever that was. The characters don't feel real and approachable anymore, especially with stuff like the GQ spread; B. Because of said spread and all the fallout. They say any press is good press but just because people talk about you for a week does not mean they're watching the show or buying the products. There were some seriously pissed off people over that and for the producers or whomever to just brush it off as people being prudes, well, that's a slap in the face; C. They need less preachy, more sing-y. Tired of the after school special moral messages. Esp. when it's coming from people who OK stuff like the GQ spread. D. The storylines (?) are pretty much non-existent. They jump all over the place. E. It was the flavor of the moment, much like Lady Gaga. But, as a society, we have ADD. Nothing lasts forever, unless it is exceptional. Glee had the ability to be exceptional but somebody got too full of themselves. It's sad. I was really, really pulling for it.

The more GLEE goes in the gay direction with boys kissing, etc….we will all be leaving….

It cannot be a kid friendly show with gay moments….leave children to their innocence.

  9. 9

Only reason I didn't get to see it was cause my satellite thingy for the tv was being a piece of shit!!! I got to see it online today though, wuju! And it was awesome. Very touching.

  10. 10

Looks like all your fawning over this show isn't working, but then again anything you support automatically fails. Sort of restores my faith in viewer's tastes knowing that this truly shit show is doing starting to lose steam. Hope it suffers a quick death.

  11. 11

I would've guess it's a result of the Rocky Horror Glee episode, b/c there was a lot of buildup for it and then I thought that it turned out pretty terrible. But I thought last night's ep was actually really good, so who knows?

  12. 12

It used to be a family show at the beginning. But, parents don't want to watch all that sex stuff and gay stuff with their kids. They want a Cosby type show. Is that really too much to ask? Seems the show went from middle America, to East Coast in-your-face liberalism.

This show has lost its edge by trying to be too edgy
We get it , Your gay, Your writer is gay and you wnat everything to be gay friendly! WE get it

The show has created Monsters and the singing actually stinks!!!!! BLECH!
Get over your self– everyone on the show! The best episode was safety dance!
and the stories about stupid little HS kids and their drama - UGHHHHHHHH
Kids under 12 can't even watch!

  14. 14

They trashed the basis of the show by making it more about sex. New formula for a hit one year old wasn't necessary.

  15. 15

The show has gone over-the-top with its gay, gay, gayness. It is so in your face.
I'm a middle-aged woman, I grew up in NYC, I am quite tolerant, but last night's episode caused me to change the channel several times, as my 10 y.o. was watching. He laughed at the gay kiss! I wasn't fast enough with the remote. Like Sonny says above in post #2, the show has become inappropriate for children.

  16. 16

The show is not really a good show and this past episode sucked big time.

  17. 17

now its too gay. for me.. all the kurt drama is boring and too much drama. i watched it because it made me lol, but now only sue, rachel emma and santana/brittany make me laugh. and they dont have that much screen time. lea michele used to be the lead character, and now she doesn't even have a storyline. we want the old glee!! the one that wasn't the kurt gaylee show!

  18. 18

Can't speak for everyone, but for customers who have Comcast on the East Coast… we had serious issues hearing the episode. The dialogue was strangely inaudible over the music. Unless my TV was cursed and/or haunted, I'll bet that contributed.

  19. 19

NCIS averages 19.5 million viewers per week…I don't think that Glee is leaving them in the dust.

  20. 20

to be honest, its the whole kurt story line (….the only story line..)
I used to really like glee…
i get it, Kurt's gay, enough already. God, my GAY BROTHER even feels uncomfortable watching this show with the direction it's going.
This show actually used to have a story, now it's a different "theme" every week. I'm 25, im not into after school specials anymore… I just want to be entertained and glee has decided to stop doing that and move towards a more targeted audience. (and seriously, gays don't really care all that much about being gay, it's a tiny little part of their life but people don't seem to realize that. the media blows shit way out of proportion when it comes to the gays.)
Why not show us how kurts dad is doing? what about his relationship with finns mom? is kurts only struggle worth telling seriously his homosexuality? Why is it that he cant be portrayed as a normal teenage boy who just happens to be gay instead of "the gay kid". What about everyone else's lives??
What happened to the actual GLEE CLUB? Are they not preparing for sectionals/reginals/nationals anymore? last night was the first night in a long long time i've even heard it mentioned.
ugggh. i don't know, end rant. I just liked it a lot better when glee was about glee club.

It has nothing to due with the gay kiss… People are just finally realizing what I've been saying since day 1. THE SHOW JUST PLAIN SUCKS!

  22. 22

I don't watch it, but the kids love it! How are they getting the correct rating when everyone DVR's all the shows. I know my kids have a ton of homework and usually need to watch it on a different night. I just wonder if the networks are making the right decision axing all these shows so early.

    23

Not enough Sue, and yes for 8pm, pushing it when they don't have to, Shark Jump!

  24. 24

I would probably say that one of the main reasons the ratings are down is because of a lack of Jane Lynch. She's hardly been in the last few episodes and I'm starting to wonder why I put in the effort to watch the show when she is either not in the episode, or only appears for a few minutes. She's the reason I watch the show, and if she doesn't start getting more screen time soon, I'm going to stop watching it.

  25. 25

Last night show was pretty good. I like the song and dance they do.

  26. 26

Its good to push the enevolpe. But when things get cocky ( and I mean self entitlement) people get turned away. It was a family show, and self degradedment by pictures meaning sex is the only option to make provokative thought, people had a problem. There is a way to do things classy and trashy. I think most felt trashy and didn't want their teens susptiable in this day and age to reduce to somewhat trashy by photos, etc. Great issues bad excution. More thought as writers needs to happen, easy ways are easily dectiaBLE. Thus lower tolerance of sex appeal. Everyone knows sex use to sell it's a has been.

  27. 27

The continuity of the shows is off. The storyline are too lonely..It needs a bit more happy and irony that have no loose ends. More Jane too!

  28. 28

RATING HAVE GONE DOWN BECAUSE THEY ARE EMPHASIZING GAY CHARACTERS AND THE MAKES PARENT UNCOMFORTABLE, THEY WONT LET THEIR KIDS BE EXPOSED TO STUFF LIKE THAT

  29. 29

I loved this show last year, now it's all about gay stuff and themes. It gets tiring.
    It's become a joke.

    30

Glee is overrated!Never liked this shit anyway.Too gay for my taste.

  31. 31

The show SIMPLY has become very boring and predictable……..Wow ,you are Gay.who in the hell cares………The reason most people have a problem with gay people is because they try to shove it down their throat……And having this Kurt character having to profess to every Goddamn person he meets that he is Gay is beyond aggravating……..If people want acceptance,,,Love who ever you feel comfortable with,,enjoy your life..There is no reason for flags ,,parades,,THERE IS A HELL OF ALLOT MORE TO LIFE THAN WHO YOU SLEEP WITH……….Simple the show will fade away……………………….

  32. 32

I agree with PatM - Sue Sylvester was the funniest part of the first season!!! More Sue, more Sue! I honestly just tune in these days to hear the funny things Brittany S. Pierce might say… The first season had twists and turns… This season has none of that.

  33. 33

GLEE ROCKS SO STOP HATING HATERS!!

  34. 34

    Glee is crap these days.

  35. 35

I liked the show for the first two episodes then the auto tuned to death songs and constant "rachel-centric" singing starting to annoy the crap out of me. Now I think it's just turned into a mushy soap opera with near constant singing. But that's just my opinion…

  36. 36

    LIKE I SAID….. EVERYONE HAS THEY'RE FIFTEEN MINUTES….
Maybe if they STOP posing half naked on magazines all the parents of the kids that watch will let them start again and the rating's will go back up….

  37. 37

I am a GLEE Freak, but i agree there are just way too many guests coming on the show. The show is about everyone besides the actual cast. And these people on here saying stuff about gay issues, well that is stupid do you know how many gay people watch glee? Get back to the basics Glee!!!!

  38. 38

    Re: URwhatUeat

How can you type? I didn't know the leftovers from a botched abortion had fingers.

  39. 39

wtf are people talking about!? i think the ratings went down for the simple reason that they gave a repeat for one week, gave the rocky horror episode the next week, and then had off another week, and then came back. that's totally how everyone stopped watching desperate housewives too. i actually forgot twice and so did the 3 other people i live with who all love glee. i think the story lines have been okay lately but just like the other season and a half, there are good and bad episodes. it's not a very consistent show but i don't think it ever has been. people are fans because they fall in love with the characters and the music, not necessarily the storyline which does stray quite a bit. and all this about being kid-appropriate…i think it's completely kid appropriate. it's message is to be accepting and it doesn't getting more kid-appropriate than that. if you think hannah montanah and all that nickelodeon crap is better, you're retarded. also, the whole 'gay thing' that everyone attributes to the downfall, WTF are you talking about. oh yeah, cause parents would totally love for their kids to see a pretty teenage girl getting knocked up instead and then having the baby and giving it up for adoption. yeah that's totally more appropriate.

  40. 40

It definitely doesn't have the magic of season 1. too bad….it had something special, and the storylines are just insane nowadays.

  41. 41

Re: kaaaay – YESSSSSS! thank you for putting it so eloquently!

  42. 42

I'm gay….and KURT is the singular most annoying gay I've ever encountered in my life. seriously. That whole episode where They forced Finn to room with Kurt, and Kurt was trying to secuce Finn was OBSCENE AND WRONG!!!!! and when Finn acted out the only way he knew how, they shamed him! I know that's just a fake storyline, but I'm pissed they handled it that way.

  43. 43

Actually, NCIS had 19.8 million viewers.Close to double that of Glee.
    EPIC FAIL PEREZ
And I love both shows, but you are clearly biased to Glee if you aren't doing the correct fact checking.
    NCIS dominates EVERY week.
