Making Kentucky Proud!

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & True

Ha! Remind us never to get into a quarrel with a drunk man from the South!

This news story out of Kentucky is one of the more bizarre stories we've ever heard. A man comes home to find his buddies drunk and then finds himself at the mercy of their will when they pull a knife to his throat.

What happens next is scary, awful and kind of gross.

Check out the report to hear what this guy endured! (above)

It's a a pretty "hair"owing tale! Ha!

    Kentucky is considered "the South???"

  5. 5

Yeah, I find it pretty insulting that when people do even mildly stupid things like this that people from places like California automatically assume they're southern…apparently, you've never visited the south and your schools are for shit because if they were any good, then you would know that Kentucky is not even located in the south.

Actually Kentucky IS located in the south .. its one of the 4 states in the east south central division.

Re: Ladybug0803 – So Kentucky is not southern at all eh? No drawl when they talk? No farmers there? Now this type of thing that only southern rednecks would do for fun and Kentucky is not in the south? Kentucky Fried Chicken even used the statement "the best fried chicken in the SOUTH" for years… Funny thing is I was going to say only in the Southern US and we have a Southern person indicating thier anger for the norhern school systems… Case in piont?! I think so!

Re: CJLOVE23 – Yes KY is considered part of the south. Eastern KY is about as Southern as you can get in terms of redneck and country.

I was unaware that physical location on a map had anything to do with being a redneck/country. I know many people who live on the North side of the map who dress/act the "redneck" as well…

I am from Southeastern Kentucky and I am educated, cultured, and well-versed. I have a fondness for travel, fashion, and yes, University of Kentucky basketball. The state of Kentucky is a fantastic place to live. It's my personal opinion that the landscape far exceeds that of most urban areas. When I look out my window I see nature. I don't look out and see a brick wall. Kentuckians aren't forced to build our homes on top of one another. Sure we have our problems like anyone else. The drug epidemic in Kentucky is out of control, but that's mainly because doctors were mis-prescribing medications and patients were becoming addicted to medications much stronger than what they actually needed. Myself I never had a interest in drugs. Growing up I was often home reading and imagining myself in luxurious places with lavish, materialistic belongings. Little did I know that after college I would find myself back home in the Mountains of Eastern Kentucky and loving it. Aside from the drug problem there's very little crime in my community. We stand united about most issues. There's a low rate of suicide or murder. I remember having an extremely happy childhood. So while this story is a bit funny and people tend to bully and mock Kentucky, just remember that a lot of us have more to offer than a story on the evening news of being forced to eat one's own beard over a lawn mower. Honestly, it could have happened anywhere. Alcohol and money matters do not mix.

I am from Lexington, Ky, the city where this newscast is filmed and shown mainly. It really is disappointing and a bit pathetic that people are still stereotyping Kentuckians as rednecks, hicks, uneducated, and people who marry our cousins. Any state you go to there are bound to be people that fit that stereotype; whether it is in Kentucky, California, New York, or anywhere else. As for being redneck, yes; some are rednecks, most aren't. As for being uneducated, Kentucky is actually one of the most educated states in the country. And this video is a bit embarrassing because it paints a picture of Kentuckians all being redneck and uneducated. Perez has continued to disappoint me because in the past two weeks, he has posted both this video, and something about how our new mayor is gay. I have nothing at all against gay people, but I wish Perez would have talked about the new mayor's platform or something, instead of just about the fact that he is gay. For all he knew, this new mayor could be a horrible person, but Perez wouldn't know that because apparently his focus of his blog has become talking about how wonderful gay people and Lady Gaga are.
