Ellen DeGeneres Thinks Having Same-Sex Dance Partners On DWTS Is Weird!

| Filed under: TV NewsGay Gay GayEllen DeGeneresLGBT

Really? We couldn't disagree more! We think it would be great!

When Kelly Osbourne visited Ellen DeGeneres on her show today, the ladies got to talking about Dancing With The Stars integrating same-sex couples into the show. Kelly thought it was a fabulous idea, but Ellen shockingly had reservations. She said:

“I think it’s weird. It’s not a romantic thing. It’s an art form and in dancing it doesn’t matter. We are just so used to seeing a man and woman dancing together.”

She later clarified that she thought it would be "great" if it did happen, but couldn't say if Portia will be the one taking the dancing plunge. She admitted:

“I don’t know if she is going to do it or not. She won’t tell me. We’ll find out.”

We hope she does! Maybe it will dispel some of the weirdness.

You idiot, I watched this show and you are taking it out of context! Kelley was saying that its weird that ISRAEL has same sex dance partners before America does!! Thats when Ellen said "It is weird." and then went on to say that dancing is an art form and it shouldn't matter what the partners sexes are.
    Get it right before reporting!!

I watched the show and you are definitely taking this out of context! See what happens when things are misquoted!

Ellen just went up a notch in my book. Two females dancing together would be too weak to pull off moves that require upper body strength. Two males together wouldn't have the beauty or elegance that female dancers possess. Perez, can you please tone down the number of gay stories here? It's fucking unreal. And to all the asswipes who are gonna write to me to stay off this site if I don't like it: fuck you! I'm never leaving this site. I'll be here til it's belly up…roughly Feb of 2011

YEARS ago there were more girls that attended dances than boys and the girls danced together. No one cared or said anything. Ellen is right. It is an art form not a sexual thing on DWTS.

    Re: Dexter625 – exactly!!

funny how you usually have videos to show what was said but this time you dont while people are saying that this take out of context..silly perez trying to get stories out of nothing and trying to cause drama..stop trying to point out everything that might be anti-gay

Perez, please try to be just a little bit objective when it comes to Gay Issues!! The fact is that we live in a puritanical society that would never tolerate two men dancing together on a show like Dancing With The Stars. Stop trying to shove your agenda down our throats and just get over it!!!

I'm not the first to say this, but you definitely took what she was trying to say out of context. I watched the show.

This picture says it all. As well as pictures of effeminate men. No matter what, natural normalcy IS male and female, whether it is real or artificially mimicked like here.

  10. 10

Not all gay person are effeminate like you and not all lesbians are butch…so if two women dance who will perform the masculine role and if two men dance who will perform the feminine role? Do you think this would be fair for the straight professional dancers? I'm all for gay rights but this is just ridiculous to me.

  11. 11

ya you may want to watch that again and PAY ATTENTION! OR MAYBE YOU SHOULD WATCH THE INTERVIEW YOURSELF instead of having someone else watch it for you and report…..

  12. 12

Perez didn't take it out of context. The site he took this story from took it out of context.

  13. 13

uh are you serious? did you see the show? she was saying it's weird they DON'T have same sex partners here yet. jesus christ perez. or who ever is behind the site.. please straighten out your thoughts before yo post on here..

  14. 14

I also think is weird, I have nothing against gays but that just shouldn't be! it's like the movie ¨blades of glory¨ two men as figure skating pairs is just riddiculous, and I think this same sex dancing is just for publicity they don't really care about gays

    gurls got some big dogs

  17. 17

Perez nobody cares what you want to see. You continue to push your agenda on people and WE THE PEOPLE are sick of it!!! Just get a life and get out of others!

  18. 18

"It’s not a romantic thing. It’s an art form and in dancing it doesn’t matter."
I've said that from the beginning! It's true!

  19. 19

I agree with Ellen…It is weird; and I'm not sure the audience on TV could stomach that. Besides who will be the pro dancer that take's that on….They need to try this on a gay network… I think it will hurt DWTS … and make a mockery of it.

Re: blsdjan – but it was about being gay then

  21. 21

Re: gerry in sf – I agree with u.

  22. 22

Boooooooooring! Is this news? Why? Because Ellen is gay? Who gives a sh$t? I hope that she and Portia have a long, enduring relationship. However, I get suspicious when Portia starts making money off of her relationship with Ellen like that other blond twit who went back to men. Ellen picks 'um young and this one may walk after she's financially set.

  23. 23

I've never had a problem with gay and lesbian relationships. I think whatever makes you happy is what everyone deserves in life. But I have to agree with Ellen. DWTS having same sex partners would make me very uncomfortable. It just doens't seem right somehow. How can a sexy romantic samba between 2 men or two women ever have the same impact as a man and a woman. I suppose that gay men and lesbians would beg to differ on that one. To each his own. I couldn't watch it. Not even as a curiosity.

  24. 24

You should really take this down, I mean you wanted to change your image and you can't even report facts? Talk about taking a part of what someone said to completely change it.

  25. 25

see this is exactly why i love Ellen.. she is so awesome.. she doesnt let her sexuality define her.. Ellen for president! LOL
