Facebook To Set Its "Gmail Killer" Loose!

| Filed under: Tech TalkBusiness Blitz

facebook to release gmail killer on monday

Since February, there have been whisperings about Facebook's Project Titan, otherwise known as the "Gmail Killer," and now it's officially being released…on Monday!

Project Titan will be Facebook's "full-fledged webmail client," which the company has internally been referring to as the Gmail Killer!

There hasn't been TOO much information released about Project Titan yet, but we'd imagine it will utilize Facebook's vast knowledge of its users to personalize your email service.

Taking on Google is one serious undertaking, but if anybody could pull it off, it'd be Facebook!

For those of you out there who are taking the threat of the Gmail Killer seriously, we say spend some time with your "@gmail.com" addresses this weekend!

Send out some emails, gchat with buddies, and cherish the time you have left together, because even if you THINK you'll always stay loyal, when Project Titan rolls around on Monday…you just might find yourself logging out of Google Mail one last time and saying "So long, and thanks for all the emails!"

Do U think the threat of the Gmail Killer is real?

Love gmail - get no spam. It'd be hard to get me to leave because of that.

Well aren't you a dramatic little bitch? It's fucking e-mail for christ sakes not a cancer diagnosis.

    ok.

No way, for one reason: people hate the hassle of switching email accounts. It took me years to finally get me friends and associates to stop emailing my old account and send things to my gmail. I'm not going through that hassle again, no matter how promising this sounds.

Just what I want, a client that will mine my email now for 100% more ad-spam than gmail could ever give me.

    yay (not)

Gmail killed Yahoo mail, and this will probably take some time but I would venture out and say YES in time it will be a Gmail killer.

I have had the same email add with yahoo since I was 15…I'm 30 now…not out of loyalty but just dont see the reason in switching.

I don't use Fecesbook to begin with, so there's no fucking way I'm about to switch to Fecesbook Email. Logically, Fecesbook Email will – in all likeliness – be used only by a set or subset of Fecesbook users. Anecdotally, Gmail must have far greater reach and a far more varied user base than that of a social network centric email service.

In any case, I won't be using either. Neither one can trump the control and flexibility that I have with my own personal domain name email.

Hahahaha there's no way they'll be able to "kill Gmail". Gmail is the closest things to a perfect email application and to be honest there isn't that much room for improvement that I can think of. Nobody is going to switch away from Gmail for another email application if it isn't leaps and bounds of an improvement over their current email…
