Cindy McCain Switches Her Stance On DADT

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikJohn McCainCindy McCainLGBT

Booooo Cindy McCain, boooo!!

The wife of John McCain has reversed her decision of opposing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," to now supporting her husband's stance on the issue, which is unfortunately, in approval of DADT.

Despite appearing in an ad for the NOH8 campaign and saying that "our political and religious leaders tell LGBT youth that they have no future," including the fact that "they can't serve our country openly, "Mrs. McCain tweeted this on Friday:

I fully support the NOH8 campaign and all it stands for and am proud to be a part of it. But I stand by my husband's stance on DADT.

That is totally unacceptable, Mrs. McCain!!

What do U think of her sudden change in position??

i'm going out on a limb to say we're probably finally hearing what she really thinks - when hubby isn't running for something.

  2. 2

I get it totally. She may stand be her husband though her stance is not the same. What she is saying is she supports him in his decision. Isn't that the best thing to do rather than fight over it. Come on you don't want to promote marriage discord do you? This is called a faithful woman who respects the relationship she is in.

  3. 3

It's not a change but a clarification of her position.

  4. 4

It's obvious from your recent comments about John McCain's stance on DADT that you have failed to actually listen to his comments regarding this policy. McCain is not in favor of keeping DADT around forever. Rather, he is opposed to repealing the policy prior to the Pentagon's review being completed. I know that everyone, myself included, wants DADT to be repealed quickly; however, if it is not done properly, it is likely to have a detrimental impact not only on the armed forces, but I feel on the LGBT community at large. It will happen, but it needs to be done right.

  5. 5

Right because its so "unacceptable" for someone to have an opinion that is contrary to your own. Just because you believe in it, doesn't mean it is right. Gays should keep their mouths shut.

  7. 7

DUMB TWO-FACED C#NT ! How stupid is she …. ? Just pissed because she didn't get to be First Lady….Ugly FameWhore ! ! ! Any more BOTOX, and her lips are gonna be behind her ears !

  8. 8

I think she is a bitch and can go fuck herself. She looks like a lesbian herself.

  9. 9

Simple solution, round up all the gays and ship 'em to Europe. It's good for us, it's good for them.

  10. 10

Perez and all you that work for him seem to not understand the virtue of marriage. I think it is applaudable that she stands by her husband rather than furthering your reckless agenda. You are very full of yourselves, only caring about the gay agenda and nothing else. Based on other comments on this site, you guys are even pissing off other gays. Perez you know nothing about the military. I think DADT should be addressed within the military.

  11. 11

Yeah, hon. And that makes PERFECT sense. Kinda like PETA owning a mink farm. PERFECT sense.

  12. 12

and you know what? THATS FINE! she still got a dikey ass hair cut.

  13. 13

    Cindy McCain can suck it.

  14. 14

It's simple, McCain knows how to keep his woman in line.

  15. 15

    WOW. totally unacceptable!

  16. 16

I didn't vote for McCain, and I will never forgive him for bringing that Palin broad into our lives. That woman just won't get lost.

  17. 17

It's B.S. at least her daughter has a backbone even though she is a GOP'er. You can't have it both ways lady. Either you agree with it or you don't and hiding behind your husband doesn't work or gain you respect.

  18. 18

She's obviously a moron then. Can't speak for herself. At least she is giving us forewarning that McCain will most likely filibuster again.

  19. 19

I don't think her personal beliefs have changed, but in the world of politics not supporting her husband doesn't look very good. Should she stand up for her views? yes…but nobody is perfect and she was probably under a lot of pressure.

  20. 20

What? You're entitled to your opinion, but nobody else is? I don't agree with DADT, but this is a free country and people are allowed to think whatever the heck they want!

  21. 21

Just terrible to see that she succombed to the pressure by her husband or his 'people.' How does her daughter feel? (going from so proud of her mother now she must be furious?)

    No respect for her

  22. 22

So her message is that it is ok to be gay as long as you stay in the closet?? It's a wonder that her husband allowed her to do the spot in the first place. Just awful.

  23. 23

u can support someone's stance on something doesnt necessarily mean u agree with them on it.

  24. 24

Oh leave her alone, she hasn't been sober since 1996. Side Note, I've never seen anyone whose skin was whiter then their teeth.

  25. 25

It's total and utter bullshit is what I think.

  26. 26

SWhe can wear white…Lord Knows, she doesn't 'spot' anymore…..

  27. 27

What's new. He flips and she flips. Let's see what his daughter says. She puts down so many Republican's let's see if they says anthing about her own family. Can you image if he McCain was President.

  28. 28

She all dried up down there !

  29. 29

  30. 30

I get what she's saying. She is supporting her husband on his stance. He actually thinks it should be repealed but wants to see pentagon reviews. She personally thinks its wrong

  31. 31

Re: Alliedawn – Dear privileged little blond girl. The DADT debate isn't about "opinions". It's about people's rights; people's livelihoods and the defense of our country. And sure, people can have whatever idiotic opinion they want - but their opinions should NOT be codified in law! Equality now.

  32. 32

John McCain probably yelled at her about it when she got home.

  33. 33

I'm oppose DADT and I fully support NOH8. They are two different campaigns, so she hasn't "changed her stance."

  34. 34

That makes no sense. When she says she stands by his stance, does she mean she respects his stance on DADT or that she agrees with his stance as in, she shares his opinion on it? If it's the latter, then her being a part of the NOH8 campaign is a sham.

  35. 35

Re: TheBadSeed – Thank you for making me LOL!

  36. 36

She CLEARLY stated she still supports the NOH8 campaign. Did you read her first sentence?? She is simply standing by her husband and his right to have a different belief than she. HE is the elected official, and her standing by him doesn't mean that she agrees with all of his views. She is in a tough position and is doing a great job tactfully expressing her feelings.

  37. 37

TYPICAL! YOU ARE WAEK, LADY! WEAK!!!! Stand up! UP! Don't COWER!!!!!!!

  38. 38

Her husband forced her to do it.. what else could it be?!

  39. 39

Re: celebnewsjunkie – You said it. I don't even need to comment!

  40. Low says – reply to this

I don't get the McCain's… you think they are good people. And then they do something that makes you think they are not. :(

  41. 41

Re: sawkerrfan – Wrong. He changed his stance and does not want it repealed. He has become a complete neocon since '08.

  42. 42

Mario, Cindy McCain has zero power. Her phony Republican hubby doesn't have much power himself. Why don't you go after Barry Obama's anti-gay policy with the same vigor you've put into your It Gets Better campaign? Seriously, Mario, for the next 2 years do nothing but harp on Barry to support ending DADT and making gay marriage legal across the land.

  43. 43

@ all of the "what she can't have an opinion?" people

She can have an opinion, but that doesn't mean it is "acceptable" Someone can't go on a racist tyrant and get off on "well he is free to his opinion" When something is wrong, it is wrong. Wrong doesn't become right because they want it to.

  44. 44

people are allowed to change their minds

  45. 45

Re: sawkerrfan – so, since the report is coming out and saying that the majority of the military - a supermajority in fact - are ok with it, is McCain going to change his stance? Did we ask the military how they felt about serving with blacks?

  46. 46

McCain is an idiot. These so-called studies by the pentagon are ridiculous. Decisions on the rights of minorities should not be left to whether majorities think it would be "okay" or whether or not it would lower moral. Decisions on the rights of minorities should only be made to give them the same rights as majorities, in this case, the right to openly serve in the military (so long as they meet all other health/eligibility requirements).

  47. 47

Not going to comment on DADT one way or the other, but great job selecting a photo that makes her look like she's possessed by demons

  48. 48

She supports NOH8! She's allowed to stand by her husband even if she doesn't agree with him. That's part of being in a marriage. He is also entitled to his opinion, whatever that may be, and whether or not you agree with it. Stop making something out of nothing.

  49. 49

She's looking VERY lesbionic herself these days.

  50. 50

How can you say that you think gays are treated like second class citizens and how this country tells them "you can't serve in the military or get married" and then say I stand by my husband trying to keep DADT alive… what?

  51. 51

    Cindy cares only about Cindy!

  52. 52

whoever said he yelled at her is a joke you know the angry littlle man beat her with his fists until his gaurds made him quit hitting her face.people could see her face. he is a nasty old man who grew up thinking its ok to drink lie cheat and beat your women.
hell he has admited to doing these things.

now on top of being a horrible person he is senile.

  53. 53

So a different POV, I am in the military w/many openly gay friends. I don't see it as a problem in the community in which I work in, however, there are different jobs w/in the military which tends to have a smaller IQ which leads to animosity towards things that are different. I believe DADT sucks, and I fully support the LGBT community, however sometimes there are necessary evils that one must face. I hate to say this but most of the people that I have seen or know about being pushed out of the military because they were gay wanted to get out. So hate this, disagree, and curse me, but I think another POV is necessary.

  54. 54

Saying she "looks like a lesbian" is denigrating, isn't it? Sounds like a slur to me….you make it sound like "lesbian" means something bad, right?

There are reasons men and women don't bunk together in our armed forces. Why would they let homo's (I can still say homo, can't I??) stay with hetero's??
What are you thinking? New barracks? Most hetero's would be very uncomfortable and you're not gonna get around that.
Perhaps you could come up with some ideas on that instead of spreading even more hate. Gays are apparently no different than the hetero's they are trying to force to change.

  55. Logan says – reply to this

Who gives a fuck…. I want real rights that actually apply to me.

  56. 56

I see no problem with gays and straights bunking together in the military. Neither one is going to be interested in the other. It's how they conduct themselves as individuals that will count. All these bills are going to pass anyway. It's just time. Eventually every state will allow every tax paying citizen to marry. 50 years from now, this will be looked upon as segregation was, when black people had to sit at the back of the bus. Why not just do it now and get it over with….but no, there has to be all this hassle for the current generation.

  57. 57

Re: wooooozee – I agree and that's very disappointing!! Boo Cindy, is right!

  58. 58

Wow, you people are really ignorant, selfish, idiots!!!! You want DADT repealed for a political agenda, and haven't even once stopped to think about the consequenses of your actions!!! Repealing DADT WILL RESULT IN THE DEATHS OF MANY GAY AND LESBIAN SOLDIERS!!! You think just because the people around you are tolerant, that everyone else is.
Repealing DADT will mean that soldiers and sailors who have hidden it, will then open up about it, and many of their so-called buddies will be upset, they may not show it, but instead when that gay soldier is in a dangerous situation and thinks there is someone there who's got his back, he will discover that they don't and will be lucky if one of his buddies bullets doesn't end up in his back!!! Or, when that gay sailor comes out, and his fellow shipmates find out they've been showering with him, and bunking with him, he will go up on deck for watch and never be seen again!!! BAND of BROTHERS IS JUST A MOVIE PEOPLE IN WAR THERE ARE MANY CASES OF FRIENDLY FIRE!!!
By repealing DADT, all you are doing is endangering the lives of many gay and lesbian military members…….all for a political agenda…..SHAME ON YOU!!!! Just because, some are tolerant, doesn't mean everyone is, and there are ALOT of good ol' southern boys in the military!!!
So think about the above, before you continue on your crusade to repeal DADT

  59. 59

    Re: TrannyTakesATumble

You are the one who should keep your stupid motherfucking mouth shut you idiotic cun*t.

  60. fiera says – reply to this

She has her own opinion, but is standing by her husband's opinion. I guess they respect each other's difference of opinion.

  61. 61

maybe she supports her husband's right to his stance on this subject — some may be homosexual, but we're not homogenous — deal with it

  62. 62

I don't think anyone, John McCain included, wants a good soldier expelled from the military for being gay. That being said there are circumstances that they have to deal with that those of us not in the military do not understand. I think they need to be the ones to decide how to best to handle it.

  63. 63

Re: WildOrchid1298 – Well said! I really think this is what she means.

  64. 64

    Love her hair!!!

  65. 65

OBVIOUSLY she's only doing it because their daughter has enough balls to say that she doesn't agree with her father, so in order to make it look like he's the only one in the family who agrees with keeping DADT in place she changes her stance. Flip Flopping much??

  66. 66

yeah, that's totally an oxymoron. If someone is willing to die and fight for this country, they should be able to be open about who they really are and shouldn't have to hide anything.

  67. 67

    H - Y - P - O - C - R - I - T - E - !

  68. 68

If she supports DADT, she DOES NOT SUPPORT NOH8 in any way, shape or form. She made a statement, and then contradicted it in the very next sentence. Cindy McCain is no friend of the GLBT community.

  69. 69

I'm all for equal rights and I am strongly against DADT - and that comes from being a military wife. Perez you have NO IDEA what's actually going on in the day to day of the military - stop berating all of us who do.

  70. 70

Re: ObamaMugabe – First off, abuse and harassment towards LGBT happens all the time in the military, it wont start once DADT is repealled- that's very misleading. Are you suggesting then that we tailor our rules and laws based on the actions of bigots and homophobes? You should show a little more respect for our military and not hold such a low opinion of them. Soldiers are soldiers because they faithfully serve our country, even when it contradicts their personal beliefs or opinions. If the military only issued orders that everyone in the military really liked and enjoyed following, they wouldn't be doing much, now would they? If DADT is repealed, soldiers will serve effectively next to open gays and lesbians because that's what they're ordered to do. If they can't follow orders, maybe the military isn't the best place for them

  71. 71

Re: bgbreakdown – Did you miss the part where I said I don't agree with it? Don't tear me apart when I have the same stance you do. Dear goodness. This country is about freedom and liberty. I'm aware that the gay community doesn't have the same rights that the non-gay community does. I get that and I think it's wrong. All I'm saying is that she's entitled to her opinion…even if it is wrong. Don't be a jerk to me about it.

  72. 72

Fuck you and your hypocrisy, Cindy.

  73. 73

People are so ignorant sometimes. DADT does NOT mean gay/lesbians cannot serve in our armed forces. It's no secret they serve. What it does prevent is it becoming a problem between soliders. When you sign on the dotted line, you are basically signing over every right you have to the government. You don't like that, don't sign. It's that simple. Members of our armed forces have to have a certain haircut, a certain dress code (on or off base), no visible piercings and even tattoos, they cannot smoke while in uniform, they cannot walk and talk on a cell phone while on base/post, men and women do not bunk or shower together, these are just a VERY few of the rules they have to follow. So is the government going to spend millions of dollars building separate barracks because maybe a heterosexual man isn't comfortable bunking with a gay one? The military cannot give gay/lesbians special treatment and not expect an uproar from straight members. For example a straight man wants to bunk with his female friend, well he can't because that isn't allowed. But it's o.k. for two gay partners in the military to bunk together? Because that is what will happen. This will kill moral at a time when it is needed most.

  74. 74

I don't think you will understand this Cindy McCain - but - this makes you a hypocrite!

  75. 75

Cindy McCain can stand behind her husband all she wants. And we here in Arizona can Gaycott her Budweiser distributing company all we want. I say hit her in her mega millions pocketbook. Stop Drinking Budweiser in Arizona!

  76. 76

Re: celebnewsjunkie – It has been addressed in the military… they want it repealed.

Republicans MAKE ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE!!! she supports gays and their "freedom", yet she opposes they serving the military as who they are… is she BIPOLAR?? lady u are insane and please go get help.
