TLC Makes Real Housewives Of Atlanta Knockoff

| Filed under: Real HousewivesReality TV

Don't mess with the original Southern Belles!

TLC has ordered three hour-long episodes of a new "docu-series," which stars five women from rural Dothan, Alabama and will focus on their struggles with family, careers, and relationships.

Hmm, sound familiar??

The cast will range in age from 24 to 39 and will feature a radio personality/real estate developer, an ex-beauty queen, an Army reservist, and an internet entrepreneur.

TLC production and development senior VP Nancy Daniels described the series:

"Bama Belles is exploring a group of women, a city and a life that we think our viewers will really connect to. TLC is taking a real look at the southern lifestyle of these women in a relatable and fun way."

This show does sound a little more "real" than RHOA so maybe it does have a chance after all.

Will U watch?

This sounds better than RHOA, because it sounds like they'll have real women, not pseudo wealthy women. Being in Alabama, it could be very entertaining, especially for us Northerners that aren't familiar with the Southern way of life.

the "internet" person is just a girl from Jersey born and raised with NO connections to alabama but a tv contract — there is no such thing as reality tv, its a fake as the rest of the shows out there.

No, I am not going to watch. To tell the truth I am getting boring with all the Real Housewives franchise too. It's the old same, old same: fights, products to sell in subtle form, etc.

I live in Alabama, we are no different then women anywhere else! The town I live in is beautiful…the surrounding area is just as nice. Fairhope Alabama, Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Alabama. Google us….they originally came here and our city officials said NO way to filming….we have a huge tourist industry and they wanted to call the show "redneck rivera". I live on the bay, with the gulf of mexico 25 miles from my front door and 5 miles from the River! We are a coastal town,,,,,hiden paradise! Difference b/w southern folks and the rest of the world is southern hospitality!

This show is going to be a trip in a half! I have lived in Dothan AL my whole life, and I'm pretty interested to see the spin they put on us. Bring on the stereotypes!

Hold on tight folks! I also live in Dothan and am so excited for the rest of the country to see how we do it down south!
This is sure to be hilarious! I can't wait!:)

I am an Alabama Southern Lady, and I can guarantee that you will be amazed to see how REAL these women are. We have alot of personality and do alot that other women would never ever try. So i will watch every episode, and hope that everyone will too. I think you will be very entertained.

Hey ya'll. I'm very excited about this - especially since Dothan is my hometown. I live in Arizona right now and people around here asking me all the time where I'm from b/c I'm so nice - even to strangers! You can't get no better than southern women! Thanks Perez for putting this on your site - I'll be watching every episode.

I was involved with the production….the pilot was shot over a year ago. Redneck Riviera just came up this year…not the same show. I agree with you about southern hospitality and beautiful Fairhope…nothing like it!!!

I live in Dothan and know Aime. You don't get any more real than she is. Can't wait for the premiere.

Do the f***s writing these articles understand the definition of rural. A city with over 65,000 citizens is hardly rural.

This show will be nothing more that tlc showing what the people of Dothan with money look like. I live about 30 mins away from there. How about showing some real southern people. This will be far from it. Just a bunch of snobs with money who think their sh*t don't stink, and they are better than you. Won't be viewing this sham that is for sure!

Wow no surprise my comment no longer shows up guess people can't take criticism. You know you are going to have that!

i remember when TLC used to mean "The Learning Channel."

Re: fuckyourfeelings – lol yea..and now all you learn from it.. is how to be narcisstic and plan over the top weddings… and have other people come in and clean your messy house for you.. or you can "learn" how to survive in a polygamist relationship… TLC…. definitely has strayed from their original meaning.. now its more like Trite, Leach, CashOut!
