WTF PBS?!?!? Tina Fey Censored!

pbs edits tina fey broadcast

Not cool, PBS. Seriously.

PBS aired a broadcast of Tina Fey's acceptance of her Mark Twain award at the Kennedy Center, but they edited her speech!

During the speech, Tina Fey said the following about Sarah Palin, which was edited out of the broadcast:

"And, you know, politics aside, the success of Sarah Palin and women like her is good for all women - except, of course –those who will end up, you know, like, paying for their own rape 'kit 'n' stuff, but for everybody else, it's a win-win. Unless you're a gay woman who wants to marry your partner of 20 years - whatever. But for most women, the success of conservative women is good for all of us. Unless you believe in evolution. You know - actually, I take it back. The whole thing's a disaster."

Here's what was included in the broadcast as far as Tina's Palin-related comments are concerned:

"I would be a liar and an idiot if I didn't thank Sarah Palin for helping get me here tonight. My partial resemblance and her crazy voice are the two luckiest things that ever happened to me. All kidding aside, I'm so proud to represent American humor, I am proud to be an American, and I am proud to make my home in the 'not real' America. And I am most proud that during trying times, like an orange [terror] alert, a bad economy or a contentious election that we as a nation retain our sense of humor."

Here's what an executive producer on the show, Peter Kaminsky, had to say about the edited broadcast:

"It was not a political decision. We had zero problems with anything she said."

More from Kaminsky:

“We took a lot out. We snipped from everyone."

You SAY you snipped from everyone, but it's shady inneresting that comments Tina Fey made about Palin that could be viewed as positive ones were kept in the broadcast.

Smells a little political to us, PBS. Just sayin'!

What do U think about the edits done to Tina Fey's broadcast? "Time Restraints" or Political?

I HOPE all of mainstream media knows the more they bait the American people into this left v.s. right battle the more Americans are gonna wake up and realize they're being duped. At least I realize Republicans and Democrats are feathers of the same bird,2 sides to the same coin. this 2 party system only serves to divide us against each other and only serves to diffuse any organized dissent or revolution. I wish we were more like France! they hit the streets and protest when something isn't right.

Good for PBS. You say it's politically slanted, I say her comments during an AWARD ceremony were politically slanted, and had no business being said in the first place. If not for Sarah Palin, she'd still be a nobody writer. Screw her, get a new shtick already.

  3. 3

    Not political my ass.

  4. 4

The fact that Tiny Fey was nominated was political…a lion of American Comedy….please. Some of you folks forget but we all pay for PBS(I think that should be discontinued) so it should not be political at all

I watched this broadcast, and that part was in the broadcast. At least on the east coast it was. I remember laughing at the "buy your own rape kit" and the "unless you believe in evolution" part. And of course agreeing whole heartily. Anything Sarah Palin related deserves to be laughed at, she's a joke.

    420!

  7. 7

I think she has always been somewhat overrated. Not the be all and end all of comediennes. And tired of her slanting everything poltically.

  8. 8

The Left is in a desperate place, and their rabid-yet-superficial attacks against people like Sarah Palin are evidence of it.

    Just wait until November 2012.

I think Perez is trying to make mountains out of molehills, as he always does.

  10. 10

Yawn…the whole Sarah Palin thing is getting old and just isn't that funny anymore. NEXT!

Those crazy disgusting immoral lying asshole radical liberals should be shunned. They are gross. They paint Palin as dumb because it's become their party line. They are despicable loathsome degenerates. She was a mayor and governor, unlike community organizer Dumbama. See how well that turned out? The most inept president ever, he's a joke to the whole world. Everything he doing has been PROVEN, repeatedly, to fail. And they presume to twist the facts and call someone stupid because they are a patriot?

  12. 12

There are thousands of us Independent chicks Tina that love Palin, and are pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, so get over it. And when you keep spreading lies you look like the idiot time and time again.

  13. 13

Well in the broadcast I watched (west coast) it was scrapped.
I don't have a problem with the edit. Although I'm not a fan of Palin, I find the comments were a bit much. There's a fine line between funny and just plain tacky. Fey really needs to get over her Palin hate

  14. 14

Are you accusing PBS of being conservative??? That would be first…for PBS. You're quotes don't even match. What was said and what was edited are no where near the same. Which, leads me to believe you parsed two none-whole parts together to gain a story. Typical of you.

    Tina Fey is a C-U-N-T.

She needs to shut the fuck up — it's an award not a political speech. Tina and John Stewart need to stop riding conservative coat tails to make their livings.

Did no one pay attention to the election .. the silent majority is pissed and they aren't going to be silent anymore.

I watched the broadcast and the rape kit and evolution comments were in the program. And it wasn't aired live, so there was no "east coast" vs. "west coast" feed. Get your facts straight Perez before you try to create controversy. Meanwhile, I am no Palin supporter, but Fey's remarks were not funny and she was grasping to make a political point and failed miserably. Considering she had time to write an acceptance speech, she was ill-prepared when the time came. And not funny. Mark Twain was likely rolling in his grave.

I like Sarah Palin as a personality, not so much as a politician. Although she had great success in the last election with the candidates she endorsed, so who knows. What I do dislike is women like Tina Fey who believe only women with beliefs like her should get ahead. What a double standard they preach. They live in Hollywood or NYC and have no idea how the average person lives. I admit am politically conservative and do not like to constantly be demonized by the "showbiz" people.

  19. 19

Wow Tina I think I love her even more now. Great trolling I'm so proud to read all of those angry comments. Om nom nom nom. And this is really funny too.

Keep up the good work, ms. Fey. Haters gonna hate.

  20. 20

Almost forgot - go Tina! Yay. All negative comments are yummy and yessss there's gonna be more. Hell yeah. Gonna have some more fun.

    PBS - Bullshit!
Why don't you just tell the truth????
