Harry Potter Nation!

| Filed under: Film FlickersHarry PotterBusiness Blitz

Holy shit! This is absolutely EPIC!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1's weekend premiere has reportedly grossed $125.1 million at the domestic box office, pulling in over $20 million more than any previous film from the franchise in its opening weekend!

That's absolutely INSANE! But well-deserved, of course!

We can't even begin to imagine how much Part 2 is going to make!

    Amazing :)

I wonder why the U.S. market laps this all up when J.K. Rowling was clear in her insistence that the movies be made with British actors as its stars.

    Just sayin'.

I am glad these movies have remained authentic. I am also happy JK Rowling WAS persistent in keeping English only actors from preventing the movies from being swallowed up by Hollywood, which has been proven to be more tacky than glamorous in recent years. Excellent books-movies have also come a long way! Props to Rowling and Yates and all the lovely cast that continues to project class.

Very good movie!!! It not a surprise at all. I just can't wait for part 2! It's going to bring in lot more viewers for part 2, cause it's so addicting. Can we wait this long for part 2?

Re: caroaber – Cause they're really really good movies and they stay TRUE to the books by being set in Britian with british people?

Re: caroaber – so what's your point?

  18. 18

Its because they all die in the end part. I could give a shit less about the other movies, and I STILL want to see it. And @caroaber, yes, yes, we all feel bad for American actors, what with all those damn British actors always taking the good jobs and all. Sheesh.

  19. 19

We went to see it on Friday and it was brilliant! More faithful to the book then any of the other films. Can't wait for part two!

This is just the US and CA. The film made over $300mil worldwide during the W/end.

Once again, you fail in your reporting. This movie, when adjusted for inflation, actually made less than previous movies in the franchise. Try to report at least one thing a day accurately will you?

Re: caroaber – maybe people arent as insular as you seem to think. i watch american films and im british, an accent or a location doesnt dilute or much alter a story, especially not a great one like this.

  23. 23

The movie was so good. They did a good job incorporating things from the book this time (since the 6th movie did a horrible job). I can't wait till it comes out on DVD and Part 2!

  24. 24

    Potter wins! :D

This is why my country, Britain makes me proud.
