The Pope Says Condoms Are Cool - If You're A Male Hooker!

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & True

According to a new book-length interview, Light of the World: The Pope, the Church, and the Signs of the Times, Pope Benedict XVI says that he believes that the use of condoms can be justified - as long as you're a male prostitute and don't want to spread disease!

In the six-day interview with Peter Seewald, he said:

"There may be a basis in the case of some individuals, as perhaps when a male prostitute uses a condom, where this can be a first step in the direction of a moralization, a first assumption of responsibility. It's a first step in a movement toward a different way, a more human way of living sexuality."

It may seem kind of silly, but it's definitely a step in the right direction for the Roman Catholic Church!

Let's hope that this kind of tolerance is only expanded upon further!

What do U think?? Is progress being made??

"There can be single justified cases," Benedict said, "for example when a prostitute uses a condom, and this can be the first step toward a moralization, a first act of responsibility in developing anew an awareness of the fact that not everything is permissible and that we cannot do everything we want." this is actually what was said nothing said about male prostitutes

  2. 2

so, what about female prostitutes? I hate religion.

  3. 3

This story is like 2 days old… not exactly breaking news.

Perez …. what the Pope is saying is that the use of a condom represents the fact that people are aware the free sex out of marriage is wrong so they use them subconsciously as a response to the innate human idea that free sex is a sin. …. that using a condom simply means that the person is taking the first step of responsibility in knowing that it's a sin … blah blah and so on ….

  6. 6

Think he looks a bit dodgy - that's not a smile, it's a bearing of teeth!

  7. 7

is it ok also if you are a man of the cloth…………………

  8. 8

Sooo, according to the Pope, a heterosexual married couple cannot use condoms either to avoid contracting a STD or conception, BUT homosexual PROSTITUTES can?

I agree with letting whoever wants to use condoms to use them, but then why is the Pope even commenting on groups that he doesn't even welcome in his own church?

  9. 9

perez just added the male prostitute in there the actual pope just referred to prostitutes in general..stop trying to make everything kind of gay connected and this shit is old

  10. 10

No. Zero progress has been made. It's incredibly irresponsible to not promote condom use. Not only does unprotected sex cause unwanted pregnancies, but it spreads disease. People are not going to stop having sex, despite the Catholic Church looking down on them.

The pope can go fuck himself.

    Religion = philosophy + misogyny + fantasy

  14. 14

So he's into protecting him and his but no one else eh?

  15. 15

Re: rmcgrath – I'm not Catholic and I think the pope is a senile old twat, but your analogy is stupid.

  16. 16

Who gives a shit what this out of touch corrupt reprehensible organization thinks.

  17. 17

Re: BeccxRe: Fyrdanser – Sweethearts, not all of us are like that. Personally I don't have sex, but I don't see anything wrong with anyone else doing what they want with their lives. And I encourage safe sex, along with birth control AND condoms. I'm not a Catholic, I am not a denomination, and I'm more spiritual than actually religious. I am a Christian.

Second, quit generalizing. Just because some people seem to think the Bible hates women, doesn't mean we all do. In the NT the Bible makes it pretty clear about how women are just as important as men. Save for Paul, who loved to give his opinion. But Jesus on the other hand had great respect for many women, especially since a WOMAN carried Him.

Third, just because you don't believe something is true, doesn't mean it isn't. Until you have proof, shut up and get over yourself. You don't have to believe, but until you show me actual proof my beliefs are wrong, you're not right, either.

  18. 18

So now, that drag queen Pope will have his little Tricks wear rubbers when they are pounding his fat ass…

  19. 19

That's good news for you, Mario!

  20. 20

does he know there is a female condom?

  21. 21

Organized religion is bad for the soul.

  22. 22

Condoms? so all the teachers and priests can rape boys in a saver way? Clean the system up before pretending it goes all modern AND human

  23. 23

6 day interview? how appropriate. flippin satan himself.

  24. 24

He doesn't believe in male/female condom use because it's a means to prevent birth and the church does not believe in any birth control other than the rhythm method.

Two males are not going to produce a baby so even though it's against church belief he says it's going to stop or slow down the spread of disease that's what his comment was about.

Women AND men in hetero relations have a risk of acquiring HIV as well. This is an odd place to start, but it's a start. Ah, well, cover the male prostitutes first.

  26. 26

Re: Jochen Pleuger – You almost got it right. He wants priests to use condoms so there is no DNA evidence!

  27. 27

Re: Jochen Pleuger – It is so priest can rape little boys and not leave DNA evidence.

  28. 28

In its essence the christian religion is very good and moral and everything. Good for the society. Respect each other, do good things and so on. But what the church has done with it and the way it twists and spins it, is just wrong.I do not think that they understand the first thing about their own teachings and especially do not bring them up to date with the world today. Whats worse is how they claim to be a moral authority and how some people go by that. Buddhism is the only philosophy (since it is not a religion) that can take the role of being an arbiter in moral dillemas. No need to believe in anything, anyone. Compassion, love, thats it. Christianity not. It is arhaic, distant, cold, theres still the original sin, membership required etc.. sometimes an insult to your inteligence.

  30. 30

Interesting that you think it was about male prostitutes…

  31. 31

I think a lot of people will cheer when this evil man dies. He's a true corrupt person with to much power. Say hello to Satan you bigot.

  32. 32

I'm so embarrassed to have to admit I was raised a Catholic and went through 12 years of Catholic school. I left all that crap behind as I walked out the door from my graduation ceremony. The Church needs to join the 21st century and realize that people and things in general have changed since the early days of the Church. And they've got to stop electing old farts as Pope because they're just too out of touch.

To some of us, there still seems to exist a hidden agenda of sexism within the church with reference to its imagery and its theology. What was started in our mom's day has yet to be finished: an evolving consciousness which seeks to exorcise internalized sexual sterotypes and a castration of phallocentric ideologies/images. Kudos to the Epscopal church for attempting to offset some of these "concerns."

  35. 35

  36. 36

Tolerance??? How about 'acceptance' - you of all people should know that using 'tolerance' is wrong… I shouldn't be tolerated because I'm gay, I should be accepted regardless.

  37. @v@ says – reply to this

Re: syd3 – I don't even think it's hidden. A woman deacon I know does four times what the parish priest does, and I know this to be so, yet he is the priest, and she can never be as things stand.

  38. 38

Well, you know, if those altar boys catch the STDs it'll look shady - so the Pope is just lookin' out for his boys… ha.

  39. 39

Geez, this board is full of oversexed, dirty, horny rats. Just because people believe in a higher power and hold themselves to higher standards doesn't mean they look down on those who do. You guys are just pissed that you don't have enough self control or self worth to do it yourselves. Keep doing what you're doing and when you get HIV and AIDS don't go crying and whining 'poor me' you were the dirty fucks who couldn't keep your legs closed/it in your pants in the first place. Good riddance!!

  40. 40

    The Pope is gross.

  41. 41

I don't think "progress" is a good word for this. We can progress as humans…but religion? Can you really progress beliefs, tradition and religious doctrine? I guess if you consider yourself religious and want to live a moral life then not having sex would probably be your best bet…then again, I don't think any man can speak for God…The Pope, or whomever.

  42. 42

Call me a skeptic, how weird that the only people who would benefit/be safe from a male prostitute are males who procure their services. ie. priests?
No protection for females of any category nor straight men. Figures.

  43. 43

Who cares what this twat has to say?

  44. 44

If you actually read EVERYTHING that the Pope was saying, you would know that he was using a male prostitute as a specific example of a whole, not as the only instance.

He was saying that condoms were acceptable when being used to prevent infections such as HIV. This is a huge step for Catholics. Stop being such a dick about it.

  45. 45

Re: Sister Mary No No – Don't be embarrassed! At least the Catholic Church is smart enough to not close themselves off from science and has accepted that evolution did happen and the Bible isn't to be taken literally. The Vatican funds scientists and embraces learning. There are some Christian churches that are too stupid to do that and still deny that the world is billions of years old. If only the Catholic Church could make progress when it comes to condoms.

  46. 46

i thiknk media want or like create problem with the pope and christianism.it' s a problem of translation.in germany, they translate a man prostitute,in italia a woman prostitute.so ,in the same time, who cares,a prostitute is prostitute.so it's a big step for the pope, who says " use a condom ".
and yes i agree whith him when he says that people should act with responsability.

  47. 47

It seems very silly to me atleast. Prostitution is gross

  48. 48

I love how the guy who's supposed to represent God and preach his good ways looks like he crawled out of the depths of Hell.

  49. 49

Could people who work for this site please stop posting old and inaccurate news?

so he promotes prostitution pedophilia and alcoholism among other things

  51. navik says – reply to this

why even people give a shit what this old prick has to say !!!! this is so pathetic !!!

  52. 52

From what I understand, the pope is saying that if you are going to do something wrong(from his point of view) like being a male prostitute then wearing a condom to prevent infecting your partner is a step in the right direction. It means that you are more moral(again, according to the pope) then a male prostitute who doesn't wear a condom and doesn't care about his clients' health.

  53. 53

I am horrified that someone with this much power and status would send a message to ANYONE that using a condom is wrong. This particular statement is NOT a gay issue but an issue for anyone who hears him and thinks, "well I'm not gay so I'm not going to use a condom".

  54. 54

I am a Christian, but I also have a mind of my own. What people need to keep in mind is that you cannot change something so big, which has been existing for so long overnight. However it really hurts when people say that all Catholics believe that way just because the pope said so. It is ridiculous at this day and age, that people don't use condoms. They are necessary. What I'm trying to say is, don't judge an entire group of people just by listening to one. It's not fair.

  55. 55

The popes paid male escort made him say that.
