The Beatles Own iTunes

the-beatles-sell-310k-albums-first-week-on-itunes.jpg

This is freakin unheard of!

In their first week in the iTunes library, The Beatles have managed to sell a ridiculous amount of albums. According to sources, the Beatle invasion resulted in almost 120,000 of individaul albums sold!

Leading the way was Abbey Road, which sold just about 16k, followed by the White Album (13k) and Sgt. Pepper (11k). But what's really sending the numbers off the charts is the Beatles Box set, which includes all 16 of their albums and sells for $150. That set has already sold 13k copies, which adds around 210k individual albums to that total, meaning the Fab Four sold an estimated 310k digital albums in one week!

Wowza! That's just incredible!

Just goes to show you - great music lives on forever!

shouldn't be a big surprise, they are the most influential, iconic band ever. their music is timeless and maybe will give an opportunity for the younger folks to discover their brilliance.
for the beatles hater: every has their own taste in music, but to deny their statue as the greatest is inargueable.
i imagine you probably enjoy some talentless rap, sampling, auto-tuned, over produced, written by some else crap that has infected the music world

Right you are Mario! Yep, I downloaded some myself. This is the best thing to happen to Itunes in a long time and I have been waiting!

The Beatles are what all other music is judged by. Todays music pales in comparison to what the guys put out over 40 something years ago. It still sounds fresh and loud.

I agree I bought some songs today.

You need to revisit that era and watch a documentary or something. You wouldn't be surprised at all.

Perez, while I'm really in agreement with all this, being an obsessive Beatles fan, (AND I appreciate how big a fan you are as well), if you say that great music lives on forever, why in the world do you worship Gaga and Bieber?

    12. 12

Fakers. If you was an actual fan of The Beatles you would already have their albums. Just like when MJ died (RIP)

Considering how hyped this was, that's actually not that good. For internet sales, maybe, but at the end of the day, a collective 310,000 for their entire discography isn't that impressive. I think they should have found a way to market this release better, or not have done it at all, because they've spent more on releasing the Beatles then they are earning.

horse sh!t! statistics can be made to look like any number you want them to. Im in the industry and can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, the Beatles itunes release has been disappointing!

Why are so many people interested in only singles. Many of the Beatle albums should be listened to in their entirety, rather that one offs of their singles.
People, start buying albums (discs), you may be surprised at how cohesive some artists are with the collection of songs that are grouped together on an album. … not to mention the amazing artwork.

:D!!!!! I LOVE THE BEATLES!!!!! :D i used to be a "hater", BUT more like "not my cup of tea", but that's because I wasn't educated lol … so I happened to be the lucky ones that got into the Beatles music class that doesn't occur every semester at school. AND I was gifted with all the Beatles songs digital MP3 version. TAKE THAT lol … youtube has like all the movies like hard day's night, yellow submarine (the blue meanies), i love the Across the Universe :D gives a different take to these songs, etc. i even find myself singing the walrus song and enjoyed it's weird and trippyness. BUT —–> i'm also a huge Katy, Gaga fan with a bit of Kesha in it. So whatever right? I'M A POP FAN. Pop will never be low brow. now I have all their albums … except Keshas lol because it's overplayed on the radio anyways.

Michael jackson will never stop making money.
      Love it

Well done Beatles! They deserve the sales. Sadly PH won't talk about what rock/pop/rap/country have become OR talk about the post-bands music that is trying to get back to basic great music and dump divas, and over production.

Re: TylerVan – Hi. I must disagree. The real fans albums are all scratched up from endless listening, and the older fans wouldn't necessarily have bothered to re-buying CD format as you get busy with your family. MP3's are flawless.

      Re: Ms. B Nice
The cover art is becoming a lost art, but I still prefer discs to downloading.

Goes to show, though, that despite these tunes having been available for years (legally and illegally), and the music industry being in such a slump, people are still willing to buy music when it's good music.
