So Sad

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayPolitikSad SadLGBT

When you hear the facts straight up like this, it truly is devastating.

Check out (above) a CNN interview with Dan Savage, the creator of the 'It Gets Better' campaign, in which he discusses the reality that the LGBT community is the most targeted minority for violent acts and discrimination, and what he thinks needs to be done to help the escalating situation!

We agree with everything he has to say!

We are HUMAN BEINGS, and we deserve the same rights as EVERYONE ELSE!

The time for change is NOW.

The average american is a fucked up asshole. Sad.

So true Perez, I'm not LGBT, however I don't think fighting againist people who are is right in any way, shape, or form. I mean, why fight LOVE when there are way, way more deadly things happening in the world today. And I do believe God loves everyone

  3. 3

That's not the reality, that's Mr. Savage's opinion.
Plenty other minority groups are targeted for violence, too, and Black males in America's cities see far more violence than homosexuals in the U.S. do.

rome wasn't built in day, Perez. Slavery was abolished 230+ years ago, and we still have overt race issues. It's going to take some time.

Thank you Dan Savage for telling CNN that they are part of the problem. Every time I see a homophobic person on CNN I wonder why they allow that garbage on the air. There is a reason why 6 million gay people commit suicide each year, and the media better get a grip soon or the numbers will escalate.

Gays and lesbians do deserve the same rights as everyone else but I would say that people with disabilities are the most targeted for discrimination, especially those with visible disabilities. I'm not talking about hate crimes either.

Yes, Mario, YOU ARE GAY, YES, we expect you to be a spokesperson for thinks that happen in the gay communtiy. BUT, this violence against teens, resulting in the suicide, IT IS NOT JUST GAYS BEING BULLIED PROBLEM. Was that Irish girl Gay? It never came up. Bullies just pick on the person that is DIFFERENT, ALONE, DEFENSELESS. Okay, I did not listen to what he said, but, I do not want it IDENTIFIED AS A GAY PROBLEM. I want it identified as a problem with people who DON'T HAVE MORALS (the people doing the beating, not the gays), People who don't have a CONSCIOUS, People who NEED TO RELEARN THE BASICS IN LIFE, the GOLDEN RULE, ETC. or they SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO LIVE AMONG OTHERS. If you cannot treat another person with decency, respect, if you have to beat the sh*t out of someone because you think it is FUN, it gets LAUGHS, makes you feel GOOD, etc. YOU LOSE YOUR RIGHTS TO BE AMONG OTHER HUMAN BEINGS. bye bye.

No, No you're not. Being gay is a medical condition. You were born with bad genetics. Scientifically speaking a straight person is -superior- to a gay person. Gays are a minority. You have no power. Stop expecting people ESPECIALLY congress to "support" you. Theres a million and one bigger problems in this world or just in the US alone. The last thing on that list is congress wasting their time with a minority over stupid crap like DADT and marriage. Being gay is not normal. DO NOT EXPECT people to accept abnormal with wide open arms.

Re: twistedwords – If weak minded idiots want to kill themselves over stupid crap then so be it. They are weak. Good thing they won't spread those terrible genetics onto their offspring.

  10. 10

Shame on both you and Savage, WOMEN are the majority, yet still the most targeted population.

Re: NookiesWA – Hell to the yes!

Re: twistedwords – I don't know where you got that made up figure but the World Health Organization estimates that there are around 1 million suicides per year in the entire WORLD and I doubt all of those are within LGBT community
there are about 10-20 million attempted suicides per year and the 6 million could be within that, but those are attempts so that is not to say that 10-20 million people attempted suicide per year. I'm not trying to say that this is not a big deal. It's just that if you come to the table with obviously fake numbers people can immediately discredit you and your opinion and in the end are helping nobody.

Don't expect this to change in the next 100 yrs. We still have people in this country that can't except blacks. Accepting of gays may not happen in this lifetime no matter how much you complain about it.

  14. 14

This country has the most double standard and is the most likely homophobe country in the world.

What a shame to be an American.
Instead of bombing other countries for oil, take care of your oen citizen, health care and education, you lack and are far behind than anyone else.

  15. 15

    Re: justtfax – I agree!

  16. 16

Having seen the BAD GIRLS reunion, it seems to me that in the end Mr. Hilton is as part of the bullying syndrome as anyone.

  17. Low says – reply to this

Everybody is a little gay… meaning we are all homosexual to a degree. You could be 90% vs. 20% … and it's those weak people that have a hidden urge and they don't understand and lash out in anger and hate towards weak gay kids. If everybody that was gay came out at once it would change the world - "quote"

Re: alemeh2 – Are you severly retarded?! People in other countries are given the DEATH PENATLY just for being gay, you think that is less homophobic than America?? Good lord please tell me you are not a citizen of this great nation- what a joke!!

re: Low - Seriously- 90/20. Did you even pass kindergarten?? Please please stop passing the stupidity around. If you aren't even smart enough to add to double digit numbers together than you shouldn't have the right to speak. My gosh, I didn't even know they bred stupid to your degree.

    Re: justtfax – Nicely said

  20. 20

Ummm first of all that is opinion, not fact, and secondly…as long as we're throwing shit out there wouldn't WOMEN be the most targeted minority for violence and on a much grander scale?

  21. 21

    Re: jeremyandkristy
You must be kidding. Don't call someone else stupid when clearly you do not know how to read or understand exactly what you are reading. Before you go around telling people they are "retarded", maybe you should try to just mildly grasp the concepts of what you are reading. What Alemah said was completely accurate. It's called a Kinsey Scale. Kinsey was a Zoologist, and conducted a multiple decade study about sexuality amongst animals. It is probably the most important study of sexuality ever done. Maybe you would know that if you were educated beyond your closed-minded beliefs. Your beliefs are not fact.
The study says that someone can be 90% gay (meaning they will most likely never be attracted to someone of the opposite sex, but it can happen) or they could be something like 20% gay (meaning they will be attracted mostly to people from the opposite sex, but may show gay tendencies at some point in life). THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE ADDED TOGETHER. These aren't definitive values. It is different for every person. One person can be 40%, someone else could be 50%, or 60% or 10% or 30%.

  22. 22

Also, don't comment on other people being stupid when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
And don't even think about calling the study bullsh*t. It is highly respected in the scientific community and has been extensively proven. It was also done in the 60s when hardly anyone was openly gay.
Don't belittle others because of your lack of education. It just makes you look like an idiot when you comment on something you know nothing about.

  23. 23

it's not just gays that get bullied perez. society says women are lesser people. people that are overweight are looked at as lazy and unmotivated. while I respect your passion. bullying just doesn't affect gays.

  24. 24

I think we need to re-evaluate this whole Gay Bullying situation… There are far more individuals that get bullied for what they wear, how they speak and who they hang out with than individuals that are homosexual. Let's not forget those numbers!!! I don't want others to think that because they are not Gay that their bullying doesn't matter… Bullying needs to be addressed but not on the scale that it is dedicated to homosexuals…
And while yes we should embrace all nationalities, religions, race and sexual orientation, we still have inequalities on all those subjects. So yes let's fight for equal rights, but let's fight for everyone's equal rights. Right to food and water, right to clothing, right to heat & hydro, right to transportation, right to health care… c'mon it's not just about the Gays…
I still don't get paid equally and I am a woman… at least homosexuals can vote!!! It took years, decades even for the right to vote for women to come into effect. Let's not get our history mixed up!!!

  25. 25

it's disgusting that harmless gays are targeted with violence when the world is full of gun happy murdering negro's and they get all the respect!! fucking warped world!!

  26. 26

Re: NookiesWA – You and people like you are the reason Americans have such a bad reputation in the rest of the world. Most Europeans (inc. me) straight or otherwise can't absorb the idea that anyone could really believe this tripe. Get yourself a couple of brain cells to rub together and perhaps a serious education at a reputable establishment… it might help.

  27. 27

Re: CrazyCanadianChick – as women we are still fighting our fight, all over the world. But this is another worthy fight, locally and globally. Not getting it twisted is fighting for equality on as many fronts as we can.

  28. 28

Re: red rascal – I'd say you're the niave/dumb one. If you can't even realize that being gay is a DISORDER/MENTAL SICKNESS. It's bad wiring and or a chemical imbalance in the brain..

  29. 29

It really is time for people to be more accepting of different (and wonderful) kinds of people. I think the It Gets Better campaign is fantastic. I also commend Perez for continuing to put this in the faces of all the negative people in the world who want LGBT to go away. It's time for more change!

I don't believe anything he says.
