Madonnas version
Wow I like them both. But bottom line I voted for Chris. They both sound excellent. Trust this is a song I know by heart. I sung along with them. Chris had the longer verison. Lea is great too. But, when I download this on Itunes it will be Chris verison. I already have my DVR set up to tape as I watch.
Chris had me at the song he did with Kristien, Matthew and Lea called one less bell to answer/A chair is still a chair. I had to have as soon as it was available. I like both artist and I will listen again. Thanks Mario this is treat.
Is this gonna be another diva off for the solo at sectionals? HELLZ YEAH! Let Kurt win this one!
Oh hellz no Lea butchered the last note!
An Chris barely sung the last note…wtf!
Lea's is FULL of emotion! Chris's is emotionally stagnant. Lea is a legend.
This is a song written for a woman (a mezzo?) and Rachel pulls it off (Madonna is better though). Kurt´s falsetto is awful.
Lea micheles!!!!!!!!!!
Since the song is written for a woman to sing in the musical, and makes no sense when a guy sings it…I give it to Leah. Why does he keep singing female songs? Gay or not, he is a guy.
Re: jones19 – Hi I see you have a musical ear too. I heard it too.
chris'.
listening to them at the same time is fun too.
Both are good, but Lea's is better. It had more range and, IMO, more "feeling". That and I'm a little annoyed by Kurt's voice.
They are both great!!! I adore them both and they are so talented it is ridiculous. I was about to just stick to both but I think Kurt by a bit. I love Lea but through half of the song Kurt's voice gave me goosebumps! I love how they bring attention to musicals on the show! People should be exposed to them somehow so they can see how amazing they are!!
Lea has the musical theatre background which gave her rendition a boost, adding the emotion.
Both are great, but I just prefer Lea's voice more.
Contrary to popular belief I felt that Chris' had more emotion.
And his pitches were better.
Lea's sounded too modernized.
And the 'don't cry for me' part sounded too happy.
Eva is singing about her death.
It's supposed to be sad.
Did not like either. Patti Lupone is GOD!
so what is it called dont cry for ME argentina or dont cry for MY argentina?
Re: Rigo Irizarry – amen! both crap.
It won't be easy, you'll think it strange
When I try to explain how I feel
That I still need your love after all that I've done
You won't believe me
All you will see is a girl you once knew
Although she's dressed up to the nines
At sixes and sevens with you
I had to let it happen, I had to change
Couldn't stay all my life down at heel
Looking out of the window, staying out of the sun
So I chose freedom
Running around, trying everything new
But nothing impressed me at all
I never expected it to
Don't cry for me Argentina
The truth is I never left you
All through my wild days
My mad existence
I kept my promise
Don't keep your distance
And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired
They are illusions
They are not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you and hope you love me
Don't cry for me Argentina
Have I said too much?
There's nothing more I can think of to say to you.
But all you have to do is look at me to know
That every word is true
I don't care who sung it better. They're doing EVITA!!!! It's been my favorite musical since I was 6 or something! I loved the Broadway show and I've seen the movie over 100 times. The music is just phenomenal. I'm really excited to see Lea and Chris perform it on Glee.
I like Chris' voice way better when he sings in his lower register rather than in falsetto. The fact that he can sing in falsetto like that is pretty amazing, but it just sounds forced to me. In the rare occasions that they've let him sing lower, I enjoyed his voice so much more.
Chris Colfer did an amazing job, but unfortunately, I just think he sounds like a choir boy. It's all very chaste, whereas Lea's voice, while very sweet, has more space for a womanly range. Eva Peron was such a powerful woman, and she went through some pretty gritty phases of life before she ended up at the top. Maybe if Chris sang this song at a somewhat lower key, and really belted out with a rich tone out of his diaphragm, I would have enjoyed his version better.
Brilliant!
Bravo!
CHRIS! WOW his voice is like an angel…I'm bored of Lea's voice tbh
This and The Dog Days are over was the only thing keeping me from giving up of Glee… This episode SUUUUCKED! It lost it's soul of being the voice for the underdogs to featuring Cheerios and Jocks. I'm giving two more episodes… Let's see what Christmas will bring.
