    Nelly's got a point, yo!

  2. 2

The hilarity starts with Nelly thinking a record deal is a 50/50 partnership. He should know better that it is not (at least not with a major label). Second, his music is garbage and most of it has been since his solo debut.

It's not the fault of the record label that the majority of his fans listening to him ten years ago have grown up and started listening to real music and are too busy living their lives to waste their money on his cds. And younger fans are not much into his music. I just can't wait for this to happen to Lil' WANG and Kanye West.

maybe it's because nelly is trash and could never rap to begin with - to top it off, he's a wannabe gansta and his girlfriend is Ashanti, another wannabe who sucks at her "art" as much as he does…….

  6. 6

    Didn't know he had a album out….

  7. 7

I think it is a P.R Problem, his album was not publicized at all. His single did well on the charts but no tv commercials, nothing.

  8. 8

Nelly has a new album?? Nelly's with Motown??

  9. 9

Lol! Oh Nelly…you went out along time ago. Pop rap music is a dime a dozen now.

It's not the record label's fault. His music has sucked since "Country Grammar," which was released 10 years ago. In my opinion, he's another Ja Rule.

So not true. Believe me, if Nelly gave them a great record they would market a "great" record. The label is in the business of money $$$ and money alone. Nelly, I'm sorry brotha, but your album sucks. Your first one sucked too. You just got lucky on that one. And, guess what? If your mad at the truth, look me up. I live on an Island in Florida in the biggest house on Platt Ave. We can have a cognac and talk it over.

  12. 12

Maybe you just suck? There's an idea.

  13. 13

His non existent promotion and last couple of singles are the ultimate reason to blame for such horrible sells
Didn't even know he had a cd coming out

  14. 14

its a good album….but there was a huge lack of promo behind it.
now i dont know whos fault that is, but they need to fix it.

Whether Nelly's album sucks or not, he's telling the truth. Record labels are always about money and what not. When they see someone get older or when a person takes a mere break from music, decides to come back and put out an album that doesn't sell well, then they're off to the next big thing. The music industry is shady and don't care about artist's talent or creativity. It always had been and always will be.

I feel bad for him. I didn't pick up his new album yet, but Im planning too. I have always been a fan of his, from back in the day. His "just a dream" single Rocks and he's a very sexy man. I do hope things get better for him.

  17. 17

    In Nelly's defence, it's a good album

  18. 18

If the product is superior, it will sell, despite marketing screwups.
    -
I guess Nelly has just too much talent, unlike Otis Redding, Arthur Prysock, Aretha, Ashford & Simpson, The Temptations, Morris Day & The Time.
    -
Nelly sounds like Obama on Obamacare and "it's just a pr problem".
If only they packaged it properly, the clueless, dumb people would love it.
It's still a turd, at the end of the day, Nelly.

    Hey,
    MUST BE THE MONEY!

Plus, St. Louis isn't exactly an entertainment hub. No paps are gonna follow you and take your picture there.

  20. 20

IMO this album will be a late bloomer.

  21. 21

i have the record. its awful.

  22. speak says – reply to this

    22

Honestly, I didn't know that people still bought CDs….

  23. 23

I'm sorry, I was too caught up in the grammar, punctuation, usage, and sentence structure errors to figure out what he's actually saying. It's amazing to me that all these people tweet, and they don't care how ignorant they sound. Courtney Love is the queen of texts without editing or filter. The dumbing down of America…how pathetic…

  24. 24

yah a lot of people need to understand it, for when an album doesnt do that good

if the promo sucks then it wont do good

  25. 25

I think it's so funny that when an artist's album doesn't do as well as projected, the artist comes out saying how it's the record company's fault and it was 'poorly promoted'. While this may be true in some instances, this exact scenario happens WAY too often for it to always be taken seriously.
Nelly hasn't had a hit since 2004 with "Over and Over". All of his other single releases from then up until "Just a Dream" didn't even crack the Billboard Top 40. His last album didn't even go Gold, it sold less than 300,000 copies. So just because Nelly FINALLY has a hit song again and is somewhat in the spotlight does not mean that he's entitled to a hit album. Lots of artist have great single success but shit album sales…just look at Taio Cruz.

didn't know he had an album out the single he released barley got air time around here and i didnt care to listen to it. so im guessing people hated it and so it wasn't played. im also going to say nelly sucks just in general. he got lucky a couple of times. but what does he expect after he's been in hiding for so long and pops out of no where and expects to be top of the charts again? and really? blaming people? low blow. so you sucked at selling records. big deal ? get to work and work harder on the next one. or is work too much for you nellykins?

  27. 27

who gives a fuck, you and your music SUCK!
