Wesley Snipes' Wife Comes To His Defense!

| Filed under: Legal MattersWesley Snipes

These are some pretty heavy allegations! We wonder if she's right!

Wesley Snipes has been ordered by a judge to begin serving his prison sentence, which stems from three 2008 convictions of willfully failing to file tax returns, despite efforts from the actor's attorneys to appeal the counts. However, his wife, Nikki, has now gotten involved, and is claiming that her husband has been horribly wronged by the government, and also denies that he ever actually committed a crime!

In a six page letter to family and friends, Nikki claims that Wesley has been "wronged in a way that I thought only existed in the movies," and that although her "warrior husband is still standing strong," she feels the need to reach out to friends "for the sake of our five wonderful children's future" and for "my man's integrity and dignity," which she believes to be tarnished by the media and the government.

She continues by expressing her belief that it's "more than obvious that the government has been abusing" its power, and that the legal system is making Snipes an example for "a crime he NEVER committed," and the media has played "a HUGE part in the government's propaganda to make his case appear as a tax fraud crime scheme." Snipes, she explains, is "an artist who simply needs an honest accountant."

The letter concludes:

"Please feel free to share the truth if you happen to come across misinformed people."

So, there it is. The alleged 'truth.'

What do U think?? Is Snipes at fault or was he, as his wife believes, a victim of a government and media smear campaign??

Two minorities and one of them's black? This is America baby they're screwed!

  2. 2

He's guilty of tax evasion. He should just man up and do his time.

  3. 3

I would not be surprise it there is some truth to her statement. You hear about this all the time in regard to accountants. I wonder who is montoring them?

  4. 4

Her only outrage is that Wes won't be able to buy their son the G.I. Joe with the Kung Fu Grip for Christmas.

    He gave it a shot
    And he got caught
    Time to get used
To 3 hots and a cot

With murderers and rapists getting slaps on the wrist all the time, and the fact that he admitted somethine went wrong and taxes weren't paid, and he is now paying what he owes, I think they are going overboard on wanting to send him to jail for so long….America's justice system really has it's priorities screwed up.

Why do artists think they do not have to be fiscally responsible? Ignorance is not an excuse. If you do not file a tax return, you are willfully not paying taxes, the media publicized the story because we are all interested in famous people who do illegal acts. Conspiracy, please.

Oh PULEASE!! Even Capote couldn't f with the IRS. She is upset that this is one area where being a celebrity just doesn't always work. If you are making that kind of money and are not paying attention to what is being done with it, ESPECIALLY re: the tax man, then you are just arrogant enough to deserve what you get.

Wesley is absolutely RIGHT! USA government is taking advantage of people and scaring them into paying taxes when in the constitution it clearly states taxes are illegal. The only pay that are supposed to pay taxes are people who make income. Working at a company is not income it is defined as labor. Therefore 99% of USA should not be paying taxes. Reagan also stated clearly that not a penny of the taxes collected go towards USA.

The 16th Amendment authorizes the income tax, but the 16th Amendment was apparently never properly ratified. See for yourself at the end of this page.

It is spelled out in the Constitution what forms of taxation are permitted and what sort of taxes are not permitted under the Constitution. An income tax was specifically NOT permitted

yes i think jail is highly overrated for this if he's will to pay the money back plus fees he shouldn't have to go to jail he's not a criminal and he can give the money so yes this is highly unjustice

Re: billabong031 – Damn, is that truth. SMH.

  11. 11

He should've paid his taxes but still, the punishment greatly exceeds his crime, come on people! Kudos to his wife for FIGHTING so strongly behind her man….a perfect example of a partner taking their marriage vows to heart.

  12. 12

Your husband should have paid his taxes, pure and simple! He's not a victim, he's a criminal. More $$$ than you need, and you want to hold onto all of it? Of course the IRS will make an example of you! Idiots like you are free advertising for the IRS!!!

i don't know about he media BUT someone else was handling his financial affairs and in all probability had power of attorney. in that situtation the person thus becomes the responsible party. In this case they held wesley snipes responsible. yes, they are making an example of him and its mind boggling that he got 5 years!!!! i think most people who say otherwise work for minimum wage and resent the kind of $$ these actors make. which is totally understandable. but IF his financial advisor had power of attorney he was legally responsible not W.S. And for any judge to make this decision should scare us all.

    Re: GothamGirl

Hmmm…Yes, he makes a lot of $$$ and because of such there is a lot more to his finances than someone who makes 65,000. People of high means hire people who have a good reputations and assume they are doing the right thing. And lets not forget the man who was his financial advisor is the same man found guilty of embezzling and mishandling millions of dollars from celebrities. I'm 200% sure at WS appeal he provided the courts with the same documented information Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedwick, Kelsey Grammer, etc. gave the courts showing misuse of funds.

  15. 15

Yeah right honey.. He decided not to pay his taxes like all the other dumb celebs cause he thinks hes special. Whats his excuse for not filing them like the rest of us? Snorting coke off a hookers ass for a year straight?

  16. 16

Bottom line, why isn't the man afforded the same chance as Nicholas Cage and some other less than black celebrities, who served no time.

  17. 17

Re: justcruisin – Kevin Bacon and Kelsey Grammer did not fail to file a tax return. Wesley Snipes failed to file a tax return for 5 years, that is what he was found guilty of, and that is why he is in jail.

I love how we have to work our entire lives to pay off our homes. Then continue to pay taxes every year only for the government to tell us what we can and cannot do in the privacy of our own homes. Cough *weed* cough. Why should rich people..Or hell why should -anyone- continue giving this garbage government money just so they can continue sinking this shit country into the ground?

  19. 19

the prison time for snipes offense is crazy. when George Bush sr. was president, noone turned a hair when he claimed texas on his state taxes, though he had lived in residence in maine for years. there is so much creative tax evasion going on in this country that i am suprised that we are wasting the tax money we did recieve on pointless trials such as this. prosecuters should have worked out a settlement three years ago and been done with it.
