She's standing behind her film!
There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Angelina Jolie's directorial debut - an as-of-now untitled feature about the romance between a Serbian man and Bosnian woman during the Balkans conflict that took the lives of 100,000 people - most notably a rape scene that has left many Bosnian victims of sexual violence in protest and going as far to convince their minister to ban the actress from filming on location in the country!
While promoting her new film, The Tourist, she addressed the issue, and claims she never meant to offend or upset anyone, and is asking everyone to hold their judgment until they've seen the finished product!
"It kept leaning toward Yugoslavia at the time, I wanted to learn more about it and the people, the more I read and learnt I was drawn to that part of the world. I met artists from that part of the world and found they were extraordinary for what they'd gone through, so I wanted to give them a platform. There's one person who has a gripe. The absolute majority of the people, population, the cast, prime minister, president have been extremely supportive. There are many twists in the plot that address the sensitive nature of the relationship between the main characters."
Furthermore, she claims that 95% of her cast actually lived through the war!
It seems to us that she's taken quite a bit of care with the project, and is approaching the material in a very sensitive nature, so we hope people do take her up on her plea to refrain from judgment until viewing the film!
At least then we can all have an educated opinion!
What do U think?? Is Angie being insensitive??
